The returning cast is joined by Wood Harris, Zendaya, Cate Blanchett, Crispin Glover, Anthony Anderson, and Alan Tudyk, who voice the new characters introduced.

Madagascar 4: Australian Outback was released in theaters in the United States on May 30, 2025, for the franchise's 20th anniversary. It is the best-reviewed film in the franchise with a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving largely positive reviews from critics, who praised its story, humor, animation, voice acting, and Hans Zimmer's musical score. The film was also a massive commercial success, grossing over $1.078 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing Madagascar film, the highest-grossing film produced by DreamWorks Animation, and Universal's highest-grossing animated film not to be produced by Illumination. At the 97th Academy Awards, the film was nominated for Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, but lost to Walt Disney Animation Studios' Kenya.
