Lorcan Darcy is an American live action/animated science fiction adventure film, directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Seth Rogen. The film stars Cole Sprouse as the titular character, alongside with Samara Weaving, Hailee Steinfeld, Joey King, Chandler Riggs, Finn Wolfhard, Simon Pegg. It pays a tribute to Stan Lee where the statue of him appears in Marvel Park. In the film, Lorcan and his siblings got seperated to different worlds as they must find their way back to their world and save the world from a brainwashing cult called Omega Pride.
Rogen were set to write, with Sprouse added in 2018. Principal photography began in September 2018, taking place in Atlanta, New York City, and San Francisco.
Planning for the 2019 Lorcan Darcy film to be developed by Spielberg, Lord and Miller wanted the film to have its own unique style. Completing the animation for the film required up to 140 animators, the largest crew ever used by Sony Pictures Animation for a film. The animated sequence with different styles, such those Walt Disney cartoons, Hanna Barbera, Tim Burtons, South Park.
Plot
Lorcan Darcy, a teenager who's a disillusioned cartoonist and writer, prepares to finish up his final year of high school and lives up to the expectations of his siblings, Jenny, Max, Molly, Toby and Dawn.
Cast
- Cole Sprouse as Lorcan Darcy, the titular character who's a disillusioned cartoonist and writer. He's Lucy's boyfriend and is three months older than his half-sister, Jenny.
- Samara Weaving as Lucy, The Darcys' neighbor and Lorcan's girlfriend. She has a romantic crush on him since middle school.
- Hailee Steinfeld as Jenny Darcy, Lorcan, Max and Dawn's half sister and Molly and Toby's older sister. She's three months younger than Lorcan.
- Joey King as Molly Darcy, Lorcan, Max and Dawn's half sister, Jenny's younger sister. She is questioning her sexuality.
- Chandler Riggs as Max Darcy, Lorcan and Dawn's brother and Jenny, Molly and Toby's half brother. He and Toby are acting like they're best friends when they have something in common.
- Finn Wolfhard as Toby Darcy, Lorcan, Max and Dawn's half brother and Jenny and Molly's younger brother. He and Max are acting like they're best friends when they have something in common.
- Cailey Fleming as Dawn Darcy, Lorcan and Max's sister and Jenny, Molly and Toby's half sister. She is the youngest of the Darcy Kids.
- Simon Pegg as The Father, the film's main antagonist who's the leader of the Omega Pride.
- Frankie Muniz as David Mason Jr, Marissa's older brother. He followed his father's footsteps but left when he came out gay. He is serves as the secondary antagonist.
- Eden Sher as Marissa Mason, David Junior's homophobic sister who always hated the Darcys'. She's Lorcan's arch nemesis and the minor antagonist.
