Several Languages are spoken by sentient beings across Patria, Zedylric being the most common. Since Patria is on another plane of existence from Earth, several of the languages of Patria are identical to various Earth languages.

Most languages use a real language as the equivalent, but others use a constructed language instead.

Several languages have either fallen out of use in general society as a result of language shifts, or have become extinct from a lack of speakers. Several still remain as a liturgical language.

Notes & Trivia

  • Most languages all use the same script, while all other languages use different script.
    • Kalaharic uses cuneiform for script.
    • Obyrtitani and Dawi, the languages of the Alfheimish fairies and Dwarves respectively, both use Runes for written script.
      • Both scripts are generated from Runesribe: Obyrtitani is transcribed without the three boxes checked, but Dawi has all three checked. This creates a differentiation between the scripted languages.
        • Note: To transcribe either language to runes properly, the diacritics must be removed.
        • Note: When transcribing Dawi, if the translation includes the letters Æ, ð, or Þ, change it to ash, edh, and thor, respectively.
    • Scalthor (the Lizardfolk language) uses Glagolitic script.
    • The three branches of Elthar (the languages of the elves), use Tengwar Annatar, created by J.R.R. Tolkein, using Tecendil to transcribe the language. But so far the author can't get the character fonts onto wikia.
    • Yanyu, Hanashi, and and Joseonite use real-world Chinese, Japanese, and Korean script for writing.
      • In Yanyu's case, the written script uses seal, regular, and other calligraphic styles.
  • Although the texts in the stories The Silver Bat and The Secret of Garvis is in English, unless someone is stated or shown to be speaking a different language, the spoken language is Zedylric. It should be firmly noted that characters in the stories do not speak in English (while it is the real-world equivalent).
    • Example: The quote "I am the lunaculus of Eurodon, reborn in the Transylvanian Kingdom as a princess of the Tepes Dynasty." would be "Eu sunt lunaculul lui Eurodon, renăscut în Regatul Transilvaniei ca prințesă a dinastiei Tepes." in Zedylric.
      • In Zedylric Script, with solely the Graphemes, the message would look like this: "Patrian I Patrian APatrian M Patrian TPatrian HPatrian E Patrian LPatrian UPatrian NPatrian APatrian CPatrian UPatrian LPatrian UPatrian S Patrian OPatrian F Patrian EPatrian UPatrian RPatrian OPatrian DPatrian OPatrian N, Patrian RPatrian EPatrian BPatrian OPatrian RPatrian N Patrian IPatrian N Patrian TPatrian HPatrian E Patrian TPatrian RPatrian APatrian NPatrian SPatrian YPatrian LPatrian VPatrian APatrian NPatrian IPatrian APatrian N Patrian KPatrian IPatrian NPatrian GPatrian DPatrian OPatrian M Patrian APatrian S Patrian A Patrian PPatrian RPatrian IPatrian NPatrian CPatrian EPatrian SPatrian S Patrian OPatrian F Patrian TPatrian HPatrian E Patrian TPatrian EPatrian PPatrian EPatrian S Patrian DPatrian YPatrian NPatrian APatrian SPatrian TPatrian Y."
      • It's the same for other languages that use the script, like Old Zedylric or Vampiric.
        • For example: the phrase "Rest in peace," which would be translated "Requiesce in pace," in Old Zedylric, and "Odihnească-se în pace," in vampiric, would be transcribed "Patrian RPatrian EPatrian QPatrian UPatrian IPatrian EPatrian SPatrian CPatrian E Patrian IPatrian N Patrian PPatrian APatrian CPatrian E" and "Patrian OPatrian DPatrian IPatrian HPatrian NPatrian EPatrian APatrian SPatrian CPatrian A-Patrian SPatrian E Patrian IPatrian N Patrian PPatrian APatrian CPatrian E" respectively.
          • In the Talmyric language, which also uses Zedylric script, the phrase would be "Gweddill mewn heddwch," and would transcribe to look like this: "Patrian GPatrian WPatrian EPatrian DPatrian DPatrian IPatrian LPatrian L Patrian MPatrian EPatrian WPatrian N Patrian HPatrian EPatrian DPatrian DPatrian WPatrian CPatrian H."
