It generally had a more mixed reception, with praise to it's visual effects, action sequences, cinematography, plot and actors who play the characters, but was criticized for it's pacing and tone. It was an overwhelming success, with it grossing $379.2 million, and made it the lowest grossing film in the MonsterVerse.

The sixth film in the MonsterVerse, Godzilla B.C., was released on June 2, 2024.

Premise

A former Apex Cybernetics engineer named John Denham is on the run from the government, who wants to capture every person involved in the creation of Mechagodzilla. He convinces his longtime friend, Caption Englehorn aboard Englehorn's ship, called the Venture, as well as tagging a few along that also worked for Apex, but a tropical storm swoops them to Skull Island, which had recovered from the catastrophic storms. There, they meet a longtime descendent of Kong, that Kong himself does not know about. They try to get this "Son" of Kong to a deep entrance into the Hollow Earth, in the depths of Skull Island, but in the process, encounters titans that can always get a chance to kill them.

Music

Brian Tyler composed the music for Kong: Hollow Earth. While Henry Jackman's music for Kong: Skull Island (2017) was adventurous and explorer-themed, Tyler was told to make it "big and bombastic." He said how he was a fan of Kong since he was a child and wanted to bring him the best piece he could ever think of. He reflected on Jackman's music, as well as Tom Holkenborg's music for Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), other pieces from his earlier filmography and erailer King Kong movies.
