Jack Jameson Gilchrist was the 42nd President of the United States, following Paul Hamilton, who left office after his first term due to ill health. In 1990, one year into Gilchrist's presidency, the McKinley Massacre took place. Gilchrist was highly praised for his handling of the situation. In spite of this high praise, he was defeated in the 1992 election by Wesley Cole as a result of the economic downturn the country underwent during his time in his office. Gilchrist had a stroke in 2006, followed by another in 2009 and is currently confined to a wheelchair.
