Influenza is an American-Indian medical disaster web television series, created by Eli Brezhnev. The series premiered on Netflix on October 17, 2021. The show is set in 2021 Boston, following the lives of three American families during a pandemic of a previously unknown disease, "caprine flu", coming from India.
The series stars an ensemble cast including John Hawkes, David Harbour, Jackie Chan, Melissa Leo, Jennifer Ehle, Joan Chen among others.
Premise
February 2021, Surat, Gujarat, India. Two toddlers get hospitalized because of their problems with breathing and a high fever. One of the toddlers dies on the next day, and head of the family is hospitalized too, dying of a high fever. The same fate meets the other two children in the family, as well as their mother. A doctor from the hospital starts coughing at home, infecting his wife and his mother. Later, his mother goes to the local market, where she starts coughing too. Camera focuses on her touching the market stalls, the food.
