I Know What You Did Last Summer is a horror fanfiction based on the films I Know What You Did Last Summer and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

Plot

The fanfic opens up with seven teenagers celebrating the fourth of July at Dawson's Beach in Southport, North Carolina. After attending a party, Julie James and her friends Ray Bronson, Barry Cox, Karla Wilson, Tyrell Martin, Helen Shivers and Will Benson celebrate Helen's victory for winning The Croaker Beauty Pageant and discussing their futures since the group graduated high school. Soon after, the group leave the beach and head home.

Elsewhere, a sullen fisherman named David Egan is contemplating suicide off a cliff but an unknown figure wielding a hook appears and stabs an unsuspecting David in the back while lifting him off the ground. After suspending the hooked David in the air, the hook begins to slice open his back, causing the dying David to fall off the cliff to his death.

Back on the road, the group is trying to control a drunken Barry who is fighting with Tyrell in the backseat with Ray trying his best to break up the fight. During the chaos, Julie sees a body falling off the cliff and she screams at Ray to watch out but is too late as the car hits the body. After an hour of arguing and debating, Barry decides to dump the body as a horrified Julie attempts to back out of the idea and opts to report the body to the police, which angers Barry further. As they dispose the body, Julie discovers a long stab wound on the back of the body and realizes that the person they hit was already dead.

At the same time, a car pulls up to Julie and the driver is revealed to be her friend Max Neurick. He is joined by stoner Titus Telesco and Max's girlfriend Nancy. After Julie assures them that everything's fine, the group then toss the body off the cliff and vow never to mention the incident as long as they possibly live. Since then, the kids go their separate ways.

One year later, Julie returns to Southport for the summer after a year of college and gets an anonymous letter with no return address which reads, "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER". Disturbed, Julie reunites with Helen, whose acting career in New York failed and is now working with her sister Elsa and a now mature Titus at her family's store. Upon showing Helen the letter, they take the note to Barry, who is now rich, grizzled and conceited. When Barry brushes it off as a joke, Julie reveals to him that the person they hit was revealed to be David Egan and that he was found in a shrimp net a few days later with reports calling it an accidental drowning.

When Barry suspects Max being the one sending the letter, he along with Julie and Helen head to the docks to confront him which ends with Barry threatening Max. Soon after, they encounter Ray and Tyrell who are now working as fishermen and they catch up on everything that happened last summer. Ray tries to rekindle his feelings for Julie but fails.

While leaving the docks, Julie runs into Karla who grew up to be a personal trainer and they go out for a drink for some time to catch up. Later that night, Barry heads to the gym to work out and gets stalked by an unknown figure clad in a rain slicker while taking a shower. After showering, he finds a picture of his car from last summer with a note which reads "I Know" and finds his jacket missing. A livid Barry storms out of the gym only to be run down by his own car driven by the same assailant that stalked him in the showers. Seriously wounded, Barry tries to scream out for help but the assailant towers over him and brandishes a large hook. The figure proceeds to stab Barry to death before pushing his body into the water.

Meanwhile, Julie is visited by a now grown Will who went on to become a successful radio DJ. After having a discussion about the accident and the note, they rekindled their friendship and part ways on good terms. As Will is far from the safety of Julie's house, he is attacked and left hospitalized by Barry's killer. The next day, the group decides to come clean to the police and at the same time, track down Will's attacker and question his motives for sending the letter and about how he witnessed the accident.

Julie, Helen and Karla decides to visit David's sister Missy outside of town. Missy tells them that she and her family were devastated by her brother's death which she labels as an apparent suicide and was visited by a friend of his named Billy Blue while paying David some respects. Convinced that Billy Blue is the one behind sending the letter and witnessing the accident, the girls return to town with this information.

Meanwhile, Max is visited by Nancy at the Southport Pier Shack where they have sex in the frying room after Max proposes to her to marry him but little do they know that the fisherman is stalking them through the steam. After that, Nancy leaves the shack for fresh air and for her to admire her new engagement ring but her happiness doesn't last long as she finds Barry's corpse on the shore of the beach covered in crabs.

While getting dressed, Max hears Nancy screaming from finding Barry's corpse on the beach and rushes to her aid but The Fisherman intercepts him and slashes his throat before stabbing him multiple times. Nancy rushes back into the shack to call the police but is viciously attacked by The Fisherman while doing so. After being stabbed several times, the dying Nancy makes one final attempt to flee the shack but catches sight of Max's disemboweled corpse sitting on a fryer. Before she has time to react, The Fisherman grabs her by the hair and scalds her face in a fryer filled with boiling hot water before stabbing the hook into her skull, killing her instantly.
