I Didn't is the fourth extended play by American actress & singer Peyton List. It was released on March 8, 2024. The EP was written entirely by List, alongside Taylor Swift over a three-day period while List was in the hospital, recovering from the car accident in which she broke her right arm and right leg.
The EP sold 120,000 copies in the US in its first week.
Background[]
List recorded numerous songs for her fifth album while on tour for her fourth album, The Blues. During this time, she was slammed by Hailey Balwin after she had accused List of having an affair with her ex-husband, Justin Bieber and also noted that she was the reason behind their divorce. This led to List getting a lot of hate from Baldwin's fans with some even physically harassing her at award shows and fan meetups. Eventually, during Christmas 2023, Bieber was forced to break up with List. She had been dating him for nearly three years and they were secretly engaged for a month. This sent List into a deep depression.
A week before her car accident, List announced she would be releasing the lead single from her fifth studio album on January 12, 2024. However, once the accident occurred, her record label pulled the single and announced it would be released at a later date. While in the hospital, List was visited by her friend, Taylor Swift, multiple times. The pair wrote three new songs together.
Once List began getting better, she went on many interviews and revealed on Ellen that she would release an EP which will include three brand new songs, one song from her upcoming fifth studio album and two "soft and vulnerable" acoustic covers which fit the lyrical tone of the other four songs. List continued promoting it until it was released on March 8, 2024.
Release and promotion[]
List didn't release any singles from the EP. Instead, she posted trimmed acoustic demo recordings of the four songs. These clips lasted 30-45 seconds. A week before the release of the EP, List performed the first song on the track list, Crushed, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon alongside the house band The Roots as a tiny preview. The performance was of a shortened version of the song. In North America, the EP peaked at number 18 on the Canadian Albums Chart, 4 on the Billboard 200 and at 21 in New Zealand.
