The panda wombat (Hulitherium australiensis, name meaning "Australian Huli beast", after the Huli people), also known as the marsupial panda, is a species of zygomaturine marsupial from northeastern Australia and New Guinea. It was once extinct since the Pleistocene, but has since been brought back from extinction by SciiFii. The panda wombats naturally inhabits montane rain forests and feeds only on bamboo, making it a marsupial analogue of the giant panda. In New Guinea, it is one of New Guinea's largest mammals, standing at 1 m (3 ft) tall, close to 2 m (6 ft) long, and with the weight of 75–200 kilograms (165–441 lb). The conservation status of the panda wombat is Vulnerable due to habitat loss and historical poaching, however, the conservationists have protected panda wombats against poachers and the natural habitats of panda wombats are preserved.
