High Fall is a 1999 American Slasher Horror film written by Silvio Horta and directed by Cathy Konrad starring Winona Ryder, Jeremy Renner, Ewan McGregor, Selma Blair, Jenna Elfman, Taye Diggs, Luke Wilson, Amy Adams and Corey Feldman.

The film was shot almost entirely in Boston, Massachussets and was released theatrically on September 12th, 1999.

The film was shot under a tight 8 month schedule in 1998 and closed production on February 23rd, 1999.

High Fall was directed by Sam Raimi and distributed by Touchstone Pictures.

It is rated R for Intense horror violence and gore, sexual content, language and drug use.

Plot

The film concerns seven youths of Beckett High whom are all being stalked and tormented by a mysterious, ominous psychopath.

The elusive maniac leaves threatening messages, photographs and at the opening of the film brutally kills one of the seven youths Helena Davis (Amy Adams).

The other six Robert Forrester (Jeremy Renner), his beautiful girlfriend Carmen Fisher (Winona Ryder), Varsity Jerk Jock Edward Turnball (Ewan McGregor), braniac Marina Everett (Selma Blair), cheer captain Anna Bastion (Jenna Elfman), Joker stoner Nathaniel Short (Taye Diggs) and Helena's boyfriend Walter Matthau (Luke Wilson) all find themselves targeted by Helena's murderer and after finding no help from the local police set out to stop the madness themselves.

However as the body count rises they find themselves torn apart and a shocking truth about to surface which threatens to destroy them all.

Death Sequences

  1. Helena Davis: Killed at home whilest parents are away following chase out to car where she is dragged during rainstorm to a large rock which is used to smash her face in and crush her skull
  2. Walter Matthau: Killed after having head slammed mutliple times in jammed garbage chute in in dormitory, being pursued to car, and upon driving off and trying to contact police has another concealed assailant advance from backseat with a large butcher's knife which stabs him through the back out the front. His car then ultimatley crashes following this.
  3. Anna Bastion: Killed after being sliced across back and arms with butcher's knife and chased into girl's locker bay at night following late night training before the big Graduation party. The assailant who cut her advances her at the exit bombarding her from it but is rendered to the ground and another two emerge with knives but miss her and are knocked to the ground, one of which is severley injured as Anna kicks her foot down upon the assailant's face. She is finally killed by a fourth assailant which emerges at the other exit in the locker room and pushes down a row of lockers which eventually land upon the back her head and smash it upon the wall she is near.
  4. Marina Everett: First at home during a family dinner before departing for party is stabbed by her mother and three masked assailants and then upon in a bloody mess rocking up at the party as everyone is leaving is killed as a masked assailant appears and throws a large circular plate which knocks her backwards and causes her to snap her back.
  5. Nathaniel Short: Killed after emerging from Edward's basement having been tranqulized with his spiked drugs. He is shot multiple times by Edward's father who arrives home.
  6. Robert Forrester: After Nathaniel's death Robert and Carmen flee from Edward's property whilest he is passed out upstairs and attempt to contact for help. Seeing as Edward's nearest neighbours are 2 kilometres away they try to reach a nearby road payphone. They come to find in Edward's father's car Anna's body and upon getting hold of a set of guns threaten Edward's father and Marina's parents. Then Robert's and Carmen's parents arrive and Robert is stabbed multiple times in the back by surprise by Edward's father as Carmen is disarmed and held down. He bleeds to death in Carmen's arms.
  7. Edward Turnball: After it is discovered that Helena Davis' neighbours are the leaders of an occult organization which includes all their parents who are out to kill them after being spiked with a supernatural toxin Edward awakening from unconsiousness from his spiked drinks barricades himself and a blood covered Carmen upstairs in his father's study where they discover all his occult books and discover he unlike the other parents were not spiked by the toxin. It is discovered they all during a drunken Halloween joke accidentally took the life of the Feldman neighbours' child which is actually also Edward's half brother. Edward dies sacrificing himself with a study explosion which takes him and his father's life as Carmen escapes out the study window. Carmen then shoots the Feldman's dead and the rest of the parents revert back to normal free of the toxin administered to them.
  8. David Blair: David was the killer and was killer by decapitation with a billhook while explaining his motivation by Carmen.
