Here You Come Again is an American sitcom created by Ifan Barber that originally aired on NBC from September 17th 1987, to May 11th 1995, with a total of 192 half-hour episodes spanning eight seasons. The show stars Bill Marsden and Rochelle Elliot as two single middle aged former high school sweethearts, Marty and Ellen respectively, who are coincidentally reunited at a mutual friend's funeral and pursue a relationship. Supporting cast members include Rita Moreno as Ellen's neighbour and confidante Marissa and Dick Van Dyke as Marty's brother Ronald. Other recurring characters introduced during the course of the series include Marty's ex wife Val, Ellen's children Doug and Mel, and Marissa's elderly mother Eliza. It was produced by ILB Productions, in association with NBC Studios.

Here You Come Again received critical acclaim throughout most of its run and won several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series twice. It also won three Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Each of the four stars received an Emmy Award, making it one of only four sitcoms in the award's history to achieve this. The series is frequently compared to fellow NBC sitcom The Golden Girls due to it's cast being made up of mainly older actors and it's out-of-the-box setting.

The series also ranked among the top-10 highest-rated programs for six of its eight seasons. In 2013, TV Guide ranked Here You Come Again number 54 on its list of the 60 Best Series of All Time. In 2014, the Writers Guild of America placed the sitcom at number 39 in their list of the "101 Best Written TV Series of All Time".

The show revolves around Marty Rice (Bill Marsden) and Ellen Wright (Rochelle Elliot), a pair of middle-aged former high school sweethearts who find themselves single for the first time in decades, one divorced and one widowed. They reunite for the first time since their split at graduation 35 years earlier at a mutual friend's funeral and rekindle their relationship. Ellen seeks guidance from her best friend and neighbour Marissa Gonzalez (Rita Moreno), while Marty tries to get back in the dating game with the help of his older brother Ronald (Dick Van Dyke).

Season 1

Season 1 of Here You Come Again was greenlit by NBC as a result of the success of fellow middle-aged-centric sitcom The Golden Girls and a pilot was produced in May 1987. NBC ordered it to series in July 1987, with Rita Moreno and Dick Van Dyke being added to the cast and the pilot being reshot that summer. Season 1 premiered on Thursday September 17th 1987 and ran for 24 episodes. The show ended for the winter break on December 3rd 1987 and returned 6 weeks later on January 14th for another 12 week run, concluding on April 7th 1988.
