Have You Ever Seen The Rain? is a 2013 American coming of age teen comedy written by Raynold A. Gideon and directed by Rob Reiner starring Albert Brooks, Meredith Baxter, Glenn Close, James Franco, Stana Katic, James Badge Dale, Ginnifer Goodwin, Katherine Heigl, Malin Akerman, Josh Hartnett, Trevor Donovan and Anna Torv. The film secured an Emmy and three BAFTA nominations for the performances of Albert Brooks, Meredith Baxter and Glenn Close.

The film's title is derived from the 1971 Creedence Clearwater Revival song Jave You Ever Seen The Rain which is prominently featured as the end credits' beginning song. 

Plot

Three high school geniuses: Finn Bolander (James Franco) a science whiz with a disapproving father (Albert Brooks), bullied Mathmatician Thomas Lubberman (James Badge Dale) with a popular cheerleader sister (Kelly Stables) and English major Ben Hartwell (Josh Hartnett) plan to gatecrash the big formal after-party as they are removed from attending.

They however find themselves side-tracked along the way as a foreign exchange student Ariela (Stana Katic) strikes the attention of Finn, Thomas finds himself harboring three fugitive students: Lara Obendale (Ginnifer Goodwin) the principal's daughter, Betty Foster (Katherine Heigl) and Cora Foster (Malin Akerman) who are the daughters of the school's lesbian P.E teacher and Ben takes an interest in the school's head jock's (Trevor Donovan) cheerleader girlfriend Molly Scott (Anna Torv) who is a secret poet like him.

A wild night ensues the night of the party as Ariela brings Finn to the party, Thomas takes the crazy trio of girls whilest they are drunk on a joyride in a car they stole and Ben engages in an affair with Molly.
