Hank Harper is the protagonist of Rewind.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
At school Hank witnessed his former best friend Ashley James being shot by Ella. Trying to stop Ella, Hank rewinds him and tries himself back in his class. He prevents Ashley from being shot.
He later met with his other friend Graham. They were attacked by Ella who accused Hank of spying on her and being part of a sexist conspiracy against her. Ashley helped Hank and Graham escape in a truck.
At Ashley's home, Hank, Ashley and Graham talked about another friend Hanna who disappeared. When Ashley's stepmother, Madison Simone, returned home, Ashley had Hank and Graham hide as she did not want to be catch with boys at home. Hank and Graham were forced to watch as Madison found a Batman comic in Ashley's room that she considered "misogynistic" and punished her stepdaughter by belt whipping until blood was drawn.
Hank researched the source of his rewind powers. He learned that Daniel, a boy at his home rumoured to have raped Ella, had blacked out from drugs Ella gave him.
He convinced Ashley of his rewind powers by telling her everything what would happen in the next 30 seconds. Later, Hank and Ashley went to a "secret lair" they and Hanna used to hang out and had sex.
At school, class was interrupted by a student telling them Daniel was on a rooftop about to jump. After Daniel jumped, Hank rewinded time but was unable to go back far enough to prevent him from jumping again. Making another attempt at saving Daniel, Hank ended up freezing time.
He and Ashley broke into the principal's office to investigate Hanna's disappearance. They learn Ella's mother had been covering for her grades.
Hank found himself in 2010, in his 12-year old body, on the day Ashley's mother Josephine died in a car accident. Hank steals her keys, prompting Josephine to catch the bus instead.
In the present, Hank found Annie was now his girlfriend. He finds Josephine alive but Ashley's father, David, is still dead and Ashley is in a vegetative state due to a car accident Josephine blames herself for.
Further exploring this new timeline, Hank learned his mother had died, Daniel killed himself as he no longer prevented his suicide and the killer has also killed even more girls in this timeline. He was later attacked by an old man who knew about Hank's power and wants him to back time back. Not wanting to live in this timeline anyway, Hank went back to 2010 and allowed Josephine to die.
With the original timeline restored, Hank and Ashley investigated Ella's room, having learned the room number from Daniel. Ella caught them both but was beaten up by Graham.
The clues led Hank and Ashley to an abandoned barn with hidden stairs. Underneath they found photos of tortured girls, including Hanna.
They went to a nightclub Ella frequented to find she wasn't there. Ella texted them both telling them she was going to remove the evidence, prompting them to return to the barn.
At the barn, Hank was injected from behind with a sedative and tried to warn Ashley but she was shot in the head, trying to save him. Hank found he couldn't rewind time with the sedative in effect but was able to see Diane Phillips before blacking out.
Hank woke up in the underground room in the barn. Inside he found Annie's body. Phillips Ella for being an liability. Hank attempted to rewind but the drugs in his system caused him to fast forward instead.
Hank found himself on trial for the rape and murder of Hanna, Ella, Ashley and Annie, having been framed by Phillips. Since the drugs were completely out of his system at the time he was in, he was able to use his rewind powers to go back to before he and Ashley went to the barn and anonymously called the police, telling about Phillips' barn.
Going back to the present, Hank found himself still being held captive by Phillips. Ashley's uncle, Jack Simone, arrived to rescue him but Phillips killed him. Hank rewinded and warned Jack who overpowered Phillips and shot her when he found out she killed his niece.
Hank went back and warned Ashley not to go the barn.
In the new timeline that resulted, Phillips had been arrested thanks to Hank's tip and Ashley and Annie were both alive.
Unfortunately, Hank found himself in another reality where the place was deserted. He sees Daniel jump to his death again before finding himself in class before Ella shot Ashley but everything is moving backwards. Exiting the classroom, Hank found himself in a maze with Phillips, Ella, Madison and a Minotaur stalking him. The Minotaur captured Hank and dragged him into a room resembling the barn and forced Hank to watch Phillips torture Ashley. Hank was able to escape with Ashley only for her to disappear. He ended up in a fight with the Minotaur and defeated him to find it was the Old Man he encountered in the alternate timeline. The Old Man told Hank that time was still altered because he prevented Ella from killing Ashley. The Old Man attacked Hank again, morphing into a copy of him. Hank was saved by Ashley.
Hank then found himself winding forwards and backwards through various points in his life.
He then found himself back in the present, the storm being attacked by a storm filled with monsters. The other Hank appeared and repeated his warning. Ashley told Hank he had to restore the timeline to how it was originally and Hank reluctantly agreed.
Hank went back to before Ashley was first killed and allowed the events to play out.
Hank went to Ashley's funeral with his parents, Madison, Jack, Graham, Daniel and other students.
Season 2[]
During the following nineteen months, Hank studied martial arts.
Unable to prevent Ashley from dying, Hank decided to go back to 2012 to relive moments with her. The two of them and Hanna (who was alive at this point) went to a rave and brought drugs from Charlie. Hank ended up fighting off two girls who thought he was planning to rape Ashley and Hanna.
At school, Matt got into a fight with Ella. Ashley tried to help Ella but Hank stopped her out of spite for Ella's future actions. After school, Hank, Ashley and Hanna went to the park where Hanna saw a couple and got upset.
Later at the hangout, Hanna told them the woman was her mother, Moira. Hanna got distressed and ended up generating fire. Hank admitted that he was from the future and could rewind time.
Hank learned the man Hanna's mother was seeing was in fact Hanna's actual father, Mal. Knowing that Mal had been seen with Charlie, Hank, Ashley and Hanna visited him. At the meeting place they instead found Salazar, wanting to know why they were looking for Mal. Salazar learned Hanna was the DA's stepdaughter and stabbed her, prompting Hank to fight Salazar.
Hank and Ashley investigated further and learned Hanna's mother, Moira, had hired Salazar to kill Mal.
When Ashley warned Mal, she was attacked by Salazar who knocked her out but Hank was able to fight him off.
Hank later returned to 2015. After Ella shot Ashley again, Hank decided to go back to 2010 and gives Ashley a night out before her mother dies. Together they find a capsule buried in 2005. Inside they find a message Hank and Ashley recorded, warning that Ella and Miss Phillips were part of a cult with Ella's mother.
