Grand Theft Auto V is an 2016 action crime comedy movie based on the video game of the same name. It tells the stories of expert bank robber Michael De Santa (Mark Wahlberg), ambitious gangster Franklin Clinton (John Boyega), and unstable drug lord Trevor Phillips (Will Ferrell). Rated R but unlike the game, there is no N word.

Plot

Nine years set before the movie's events, bank robbers Michael De Santa and Trevor Phillips accompanied by Brad Snider hit a bank in North Yankton but are ambushed by the police there. Towards the end, Michael "dies", Brad is killed and Trevor disappears.

Then in Los Santos in 2013, it is revealed Michael has faked his death and is alive and well, living rich in a big mansion with a wife and two kids. Gangsters Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davis are then tasked with repossessing two sports car for their boss Simeon Yeterian. The two are successful and then are tasked with repossessing a green motorcycle from a Vagos member in a Vagos-controlled territory. The Vagos are alerted when Franklin opens one of the garages, with a massive shootout starting. Franklin then chases down the biker and steals his motorcycle after driving into him causing him to fly towards another car and dies from impact. But Lamar then keeps the bike for himself. For his next job from Simeon, Franklin arrives there but Simeon claims he is a traitor to the business to which Franklin reveals the truth. Calmed down a bit, Simeon tells him to "redeem" himself by repossessing a yellow SUV from a customer named Jimmy De Santa. Franklin collects it but is held at gunpoint by Jimmy's father, Michael, from the backseat who orders him to keep driving to his boss. Franklin is then forced to drive through the windows of Simeons' business, scaring off customers and shocking Simeon. Michael gives Franklin money and tells him to run off, Michael then angrily beats up Simeon. Michael proceeds to smash Simeon into one of his cars and almost passes out, Michael walks away and warns him to never cross him and his family again or conning anyone else he knows.

Simeon later calls Franklin to again call him a traitor, informing him that his fired and then angrily hangs up. Franklin then meets with Michael at his home but it is revealed that his son is being kidnapped by a group of thieves who plan to steal Michaels' boat. Michael and Franklin get his son back but the boat is stolen since the car Michael is in has broke down. When Michael returns home, he angrily smashes up his sons' TV for his attitude and then go out for a bike ride at the beach. Though, at the beach, Jimmy informs his father that Jimmy's sister, Tracey, is on a boat with a group in the porn industry. Angrily Michael dives into the ocean and boards the boat, crashing the party by destroying the radio, knocking a man offboard and dragging Tracey away. The two flee on a jet ski while the boat's owner, Freddy Slade, along with his henchman, Blake, pursue them and fire at them with their pistols in revenge. Though Michael shoots their jet ski with his handgun, causing it to cause Blake to flip his ski over and be stopped in his pursuit. Freddy though follows them through a tunnel but Michael causes him to knock into a pipe and be stopped in his tracks.

Later, Michael discovers his wife is sleeping with her tennis coach so he angrily chases him down and him alongside Franklin Clinton pull down the house he was hiding in. Mexican drug lord Martin Madrazo confronts him about the incident, forcing him to repay for the damage he caused. So Michael meets up with one of his heist team friends, Lester Crest, responsible for planning the heists to help him rob banks again in order to repay Martin. Lester agrees to help him but Michael successfully does one job for Lester first which resulted in the death of Jay Norris, Founder and CEO of Lifeinvader. Lester then helped Michael hit the Vangelico Jewel Store along with Franklin Clinton who served as a getaway driver, Eddie Toh as another driver, Paige Harris as a hacker and Gustavo Mota as a gunman.

Franklin sets up the motorcycles outside the store then Michael, Eddie and Gustovo infiltrated the jewel store, knocking out the security guard with his gun. Michael then ordered everyone in the store to get down and give themselves up. Michael and Eddie ransacked the store while Paige prevented the alarm from going off and Gustavo made sure the hostages were kept down. The trio then went outside where Franklin was arguing with a police officer about the motorcycles, Michael threw him down on the floor and gave him the chance to forget about anything he saw. Franklin, Gustova and Eddie then got onto the motorcycles and evaded police cars, going through a sewer tunnel and then was still being chased but Michael, driving a truck, crashed into their vehicles and stopped the cops. The team escaped the cops and all got inside a truck, where Michael and Lester informed them to split up as the cops are searching for a team and their money will be transferred into their bank accounts eventually. After this heist, Lester has Franklin live in a nice house at Vinewood Hills.

Meanwhile in Blaine County, Sandy Shores, Trevor Phillips is seen having sex with a woman named Ashley Butler (girlfriend of the Lost MC leader Johnny Klebitz) while watching the news where it is revealed Michael is still alive, Trevor is shocked and stops having sex, going outside of his trailer where his associates, Wade Hebert and Ron Jakowski, are attempting to stop Johnny Klebitz from confronting Trevor. Angered by Johnny, Trevor brutally murders him by smashing a bottle onto his head and stomping on his head violently multiple times. Trevor along with Ron and Wade go to Clay Simons and Terry Thorpe who are with some other Lost MC bikers to inform them of Johnny's death, ultimately betraying the biker gang. Trevor has a shootout with the Lost MC at one of their territories but the bikers soon retreat and Trevor then goes to deal with Ortega, leader of the Aztecas gang. Trevor warns him of his enterprises' rise to power and tells him to stay out of his way, then Ortega is left spared while Trevor, Ron and Wade returns to Trevor's trailer. Trevor orders Wade to go to Los Santos to find Michael. 

Trevor then goes to the local bar to meet up with a would be associate for his gang, Mr. Cheng who is in charge of the Triads gang. Instead Cheng's son, Tao Cheng, and his translator shows up to look at the business. Trevor goes to show them their meth lab but the meth manafacturer, Chef, reveals the Aztecas are plotting to attack the lab after Trevor recently attacked Ortega. Trevor so had Tao and his translator take cover while Trevor and Chef fight off the Aztecas attackers. After being almost wiped out, Ortega and the remaining attackers show up downstairs in an attempt to kill Trevor. Ortega personally hits Trevor with his shotgun, then prepares to finish Trevor off, but Chef saves Trevor by shooting Ortega with his shotgun, killing him instantly and saving the meth lab. Tao and his translator then leave.

Trevor returns to his trailer to find his property getting trashed, angered, he along with his most trusted associate, Ron, go to attack the Lost MC for their actions. Ron blows up the place while Trevor covers him with his sniper rifle and then collect the weapons to sell to Oscar Guzman. The two steal two planes and give the weapons to Oscar, receiving payment and then lands at his hangar. It is then revealed to Trevor that Mr. Cheng is planning to instead work with the O'Neil Brothers, so Trevor murders the majority of the brothers and destroyed their meth lab.  Trevor then goes with Wade to Los Santos to find Michael and temporarily stays at Wade cousins, Floyd's apartment. Trevor then plans to commit a heist of his own to rob a prototype weapon from Merryweather Security. He scouts this at Los Santos's Port where it is being held onboard a boat. 

Trevor then steals a submarine from the boat and takes it to Floyd's apartment for safety. He then finds and reunites with Michael, the duo go to stop Tracey at a Fame or Shame audition from being humiliated. They chase the host, Lazlow, for doing a sexual pose with her. Trevor forces him to take his pants off and dance, recording it on his phone, sparing his life though. 

Michael then does a job for Dave Norton, a corrupt FIB Agent and friend, to infiltrate a city morgue to confirm the death of an FIB suspect. He does this and managed to escape the IAA agents from the building. Michael then meets Dave's superior, Steves Haines who is another corrupt FIB Agent, and was given a job to retrieve a man named Mr. K who is being tortured by the IAA. He this successfully with Michael capturing him, Trevor as the helicopter pilot and Franklin as their cover sniper. Michael and Trevor then meet up with Steve again with the job of Trevor torturing Mr. K for information and Michael goes with Dave to assassinate a terrorist suspect. They do this and Steve orders Trevor to kill Mr. K but Trevor instead takes him to the airport.

Trevor, Michael and Franklin then pull off their heist. Franklin took out Merryweather guards onboard the boat, Michael blew the boat up with C4 explosives and Trevor then stole the valuable cargo. Though they were forced to return it after it was revealed that they would be hunted down.

Michael then tries yoga with his wife and her instructor, Fabien. Meanwhile Franklin returns to his aunt's home where Lamar is also at. Trevor also meets with Franklin there and finally meets Lamar, to which Lamar grows to like. They do to a drug deal with the Ballas gang but it goes wrong resulting in a shootout at Grove Street between the trio and the Ballas. The police soon became involved and chased them down though they hijacked MC Clip's jet ski's, and then managed to escape the cops.

Steve Haines tells Michael, Franklin and Trevor to commit a heist which involved stealing agency funds from an armored truck. Franklin gathered a getaway vehicle while Michael gathered masks and boiler suits and Trevor gathered the tow truck and garbage truck. The trio pull off the heist successfully, killing various cops and NOOSE soldiers in the way.

Michael then goes to meet Devin Weston a billionaire with power over various businesses who offers Michael to work with his idol, Solomon Richards, and offers Trevor and Michael to steal five rare cars for him so he can sell them to Chinese government officials and then he will pay the two for the jobs. Michael, Franklin and Trevor, then went to steal an Entity XF and Cheetah for Weston. Trevor and Franklin then went to use an LSPD Helicopter to find Chad Mulligan and rob him of his Z-Type, Franklin robbed it and took it to Weston's hangar. Franklin then sneaked into a movie set and robbed the JB 700 for Devin.

Meanwhile, Michael meets Solomon Richards and has been sent by him to confront Rocco Pelosi. Michael sneaks into the place, secretly takes out various workers and then brutally beats up Rocco and then manages to convince Anton and Milton to return to Solomon. Martin Madrazo then orders Michael and Trevor to shoot down his cousin's plane to collect a package and have him killed. Michael uses a van to shoot down the plane and Trevor follows it and kills Javier to collect the documents. Trevor confronts Martin and tears his ear off and then kidnaps his wife and steals his car for refusing to pay him. Trevor and Michael are then forced to lay low in Blaine County. 

After being informed by Ron, Trevor used a plane to rob weapons from a Merryweather cargo plane. Trevor was almost successful but the air force shot the plane down, causing Trevor to abandon it and escape via parachute. Trevor, Lester and Michael then scout the bank at Paleto Bay, with Trevor robbing military hardware and then then Michael, Franklin and Trevor pull off the heist successfully with Gustavo, giving the money to Steve Haines for an upcoming job. Michael and Trevor then loot a Merryweather train, repaying Martin. Before returning to Los Santos, they pull off a job to infiltrate a research facility and steal a nerve gas. After completing this, Trevor tearfully returns Martin's wife to Martin and Trevor threatens to kill him if he discovers she's been mistreated again.

Trevor then returns to Floyd's apartment but Debra attempts to throw him out by threatening him with a weapon only to kill Floyd in the process, however Trevor angrily murder Debra in return. Trevor and Wade then go to the Vanilla Unicorn strip club so Trevor murders it's manager, Leon, and takes it over. Lester then arranges a meeting for the trio to meet at Trevor's new home, they begin to plan out and scout out the Union Depository bank for the big score of their lives. For the big score, they hire a large crew including Chef, Gustova Mota, Eddie Toh, Taliana Martinez and Paige Harris for two gunmen, two drivers and a hacker. They then steal a Police Transporter and four Gauntlet muscle cars to be used for the upcoming heist.

Michael and Jimmy then go from the mansion to sort the family out as well as deal with Lazlow Jones and Fabien again. Michael gets them to agree to move back in the mansion. Michael then goes to Solomon Richards' studio where he witnesses Rocco Pelosi and his accomplice beating down Solomon for revenge, Michael then goes after the two to kill them on Solomon's request. While driving up a mountain, Michael crashes his car off it, Michael follows them down and finds Rocco survived the crash but his accomplice died. Michael then began to beat down Rocco badly like he did to Solomon, then threw him off the cliff and killed him.

Michael is then called back to the studio by Solomon. He heads there and instead of Solomon, finds Devin Weston and Molly Schultz who are planning to shut down the studio to make more money for themselves. Michael chases Molly who has a copy for the movie he and Solomon are making, Molly was accidentally killed and Michael felt remorse, but ended up retrieving the copy and returned it to Solomon. 

Meanwhile, Franklin is called by Lamar to finish their job in stealing the cars for Devin. Franklin and Lamar steal the Monroe and place it on a truck with the other cars to transport them all to Devin and make the trio their money. Though it is revealed that, after Weston had the cars transported, that he had betrayed them and decided to not pay them for their services. 

That night, it is revealed to Michael that Solomon is showing their movie, Meltdown, in the cinema and has freely invited Michael there and Michael decided to bring his family to watch it. Michael and Jimmy first get there in a limo but Devin shows up and informs that his family won't be coming. Angered, Michael and Jimmy head back to the mansion to save their family. There, Michael ordered Jimmy to hide while he sorts things out. He sees Amanda attempting to fight off an armed man on the stairs, so Michael shoots him in the leg to stop him and Amanda kicks him down the stairs, leaving him to die from blood loss. They then go into Tracey's room, where Michael shoots her captor in the head, killing him and saving her. Michael then has the two take cover in the room while Michael eliminates the enemy. Michael kills the majority but the final one manages to surpise attack Michael from behind and points his gun at his head, preparing to finish him off, but Jimmy saves his father and kills the man by hitting the guy's head with his bong. Jimmy then "teabags" the guy, much to Michael's amusement and this was for making an alternate Scarface ending. Michael then has the family move out the mansion for some time for their own safety until he deals with the man who sent them, Devin Weston. 

Michael then goes to Lester's office to find out information about this. He learns then that Devin Weston has connections to the private military Merryweather, owning 11% of the company, and them soldiers were a few of it's members. Steve Haines and Dave Norton then show up to give Michael his final job, to break into the FIB Headquarters and erase incriminating evidence against Steve about his crimes and corruption. To do this, Michael enlists Franklin for the job too. Michael and Lester then go to follow a janitor there named Harvey Molina to steal his clothing and equipment for the raid. Michael follows him into his home, stealing his equipment and told him to keep quiet about this. Franklin then follows the building's architect, Chip Peterson, in order to steal the blueprints to make plans for their raid. Franklin follows him into an elevator at the construction site, knocking him out by punching him in the head and robs him of his blueprints, and then escapes the site and gives it to Lester at his office. 

The plan was to steal a Fire Truck along with some of the Fire Department's equipment and keep the janitor equipment, Michael hires Gustova Mota and Daryl Jones for the heist. Michael goes to the building the following night with janitor clothing and plants C4 around the building, then leaves the area and gets into his fireman equipment and gets into the Fire Truck with Franklin, Gustova and Daryl to raid it. Michael detonates the explosives, setting fire to the top floors so they go in to get the evidence. They do this but Daryl dies when some doors blast open and Franklin is knocked out, though he awakens and kills some FIB Agents on the way, leaving the building and gives Steve the evidence.

While sitting in his mansion, Trevor comes to Michael and eventually figures out the possibility of what happened in North Yankton. Michael chases Trevor to the airport, they later go to the graveyard to which Trevor discovers the corpse of Brad. Shocked and enraged, Trevor points his handgun at Michael to which Michael points his handgun at Trevor. Some Chinese men with guns head into the graveyard, firing at them and so Trevor throws his handgun at Michael and retreats, leaving him to fight them off. Michael kills the majority and gets into his car, then was held at gunpoint by two of them and captures him. Trevor is then seen in a plane and heading back to San Andreas, he was then called by Mr. Wei Cheng, looking for revenge, telling Trevor to give up TP Industries in order to save Michael. Trevor refuses and heads back to Sandy Shores, Trevor is then called by Franklin to meet him at his aunt's house. Trevor tells Franklin Michael is being held hostage by the Triads members, but angrily refuses to not help Michael and claims his glad for him to be killed. Franklin, with the help of Lester, locates Michael and rescues him as Wei Cheng and his translator leave the meat packing facility. Michael is then called by Dave to meet him at the Kortz Center, which he does and demands for him to be cut loose. Steve and Andreas show up and attempts to arrest the two and blame them for his crimes, but the U.L. Paper Contact leads a group of FIB Agents there and a group of Merryweather mercenaries arrive. The contact knows of Steve's crimes and Steve discovers Andreas has betrayed him, a mercenary shoots Steve in the leg so Steve kills and shoots Andreas in the head. A shootout starts out with Steve escaping and Trevor then unexpectedly shows up, sniping the enemies and helping Michael and Dave retreat. 

Michael escapes and meets Trevor, who reveals he wants him for the big score. Franklin then meets Tanisha Jackson at his house, who convinces him to go rescue Lamar from the Ballas as he was set up by Stretch at Paleto Bay, Franklin along with Trevor and Michael go there and rescue Lamar from the Ballas gangsters. Franklin tells Lamar he should give up his gangbanging lifestyle and get a real job as well as stay away from Stretch. After dropping off Lamar, Franklin comes across Steve and Dave who order him to kill Trevor as he is a liability to them, to which Franklin states he doesn't want to leading Steve to threaten his life. 

Franklin is then called after Lester reveals that the big score has been set up and will be set in motion if Micheael, Trevor and the heist crew meet at the Vanilla Unicorn strip club. There, Trevor and Michael will dress up as Gruppe 6 security guards with Chef and Gustova Mota, then they get into the Stinger and drive to the tunnel. Two Securicars attempt to through but a spike strip is planted and stops the trucks. The four then force the security guards out, take them hostage and Trevor forcefully lines them up. Chef and Gustova rob them of their ID's while Michael selects a guard named Casey to be used in the heist, returning his ID to him. Trevor then has Chef tie up the hostages in the back of the Stinger while Michael, Trevor, Gustova and Casey begin the other part of their score, telling Chef to meet them where the Gauntlets are and tells him to bring the Stinger with the hostages. The four collect the gold in the trucks while Franklin and Paige direct the traffic lights to allow the four get to the Gauntlets quicker and prevent Merryweather from getting to them. There, Chef brings the Stinger with the hostages who have been tied up and gagged inside the back, Chef gets out and the four arrive, then Franklin arrives to meet Eddie and Taliana. While Eddie, Chef, Taliana and Gustova load up the gold inside the cars, Trevor violently holds Casey at gunpoint, to which Michael releases, gives him one of the gold and tells him to keep quiet.

Merryweather mercenaries arrive to kill them, so the trio hold them off while the crew load up the golden bullion in the muscle cars. This is successful and the crew escape when they enter the trucks and escape with the gold. The trio along with Lester meet at Michael's home, to which an argument happens. Lester mentions that the stolen gold is being melted at a foundry, Lester promises he'll give them the money in their back accounts soon. Upon returning to his home, Franklin is greeted by Devin Weston who gives him three choices: kill Michael for him, kill Trevor for Steve or spare them and have his life at great risk. Franklin calls and meets Lester about the problem, who devises a better plan on how to handle the situation. Ambush their men at the foundry and kill them all, then think of how to deal with their enemies. Accompanied by Lamar, they kill the FIB Agents and Merryweather Mercenaries there, then meet outside to take out their enemies: Devin, Steve, Cheng and Stretch. Michael confronts Stretch who is hanging around with some Ballas gangsters at the BJ Smith Recreational Center, Michael shoots the gangsters and then see's Stretch who comes at him with a knife. Though Michael grabs his knife and uses it to slash his throat, killing him and destroying the Ballas. Franklin then goes to kill Mr. Cheng who is leaving the Pacific Bluffs Country Clubs, using a Grenade Launcher to kill him, Tao, his translator and some Triads members. Trevor then goes to the pier and then snipes Steve in the head, killing him while his shooting one of his TV show's episodes. 

Trevor is then called by Lester about Devin's location, his own mansion. Trevor kills the guards there and knocks him out, placing him in the trunk of his car. Trevor then takes him to the mountain where the trio use the car to push him off the edge, killing him and causing it to explode. After this, the trio remain friends and Trevor forgives Michael. Trevor returns to his trailer, where he is a given a special quad bike by Ron. Franklin returns to his home, where Lamar arrives and thanks him for the thrilling fight. Michael returns to his mansion, where his family moves back in knowing of Devin's death and is greeted by Lester who is happy of their victory and all the trio receive their promised cash. Also him and his family decide to watch Tracy's performance on Fame or Shame. At first, he finds the dancing inappropriate but Michael loves the song and hugs Tracey. However, the judges choose the "M**********g Monkeys" as the winners but Lazlow stands up for Tracy and gets in a fight with Hugh Harrison, the British judge. An angry Michael promises to kill those judges.

Trevor walks into his apartment but finds Dave Norton. However, Trevor realizes this is the end and allows Norton shot him to death with machine gun. Dave cleans the fingerprints off and leaves the apartment.
