Gardevoir (SciiFii)

A gardevoir (Gardevoirus deinonychius) is a species of bird of the family Opisthocomidae (which includes hoatzins and relatives) that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii due to demand for real life Pokémon species. Gardevoirs are common household pets throughout the world, however, they have established feral breeding populations throughout southeastern United States and California, but there are no known impact the gardevoirs have to the ecosystems of both areas they live in. The gardevoirs are much larger than their relatives, the hoatzin, growing to be around 5.4 feet tall and weighing about as much as an emu. The gardevoir is a herbivore that mainly feeds on fruits, vegetables, leaves, flowers, and seeds, just like the hoatzin, the gardevoir has an enlarged crop used for fermentation of vegetable matter, in a manner broadly analogous to the digestive system of mammalian ruminants. Due to feeding on a wider range of plants than what the hoatzin feeds on, as well as having a complex digestive system, the gardevoir has a stronger odour, almost as strong as a skunk spray, which is caused by the fermentation of food in its digestive system. Due to the gardevoir's reputation as the stinkiest bird, gardevoirs kept as pets are often fed grapes, bananas, and citrus (even oranges), which reacts differently in the gardevoirs' digestive system, preventing them from producing the strong odour. The gardevoirs are flightless due to the lack of flight feathers, however, it makes up for being flightless by also retaining clawed fingers, just like baby hoatzins, but unlike adult hoatzins, gardevoirs retain clawed fingers through adulthood, primarily used for climbing, digging (for laying eggs), and defense against predators. The unique characteristics among birds is a large red spine protruding from its chest, which is used not only for defense against predators, but also by males for fighting to win a right to mate with the females. The tail feathers of the gardevoir are long and thick, which are used to help balance the bird as it is climbing and are also used to help shield the eggs as the animal is in the rain. The gardevoirs are social animals that live in flocks of up to around 25-50 at a time. The conservation status of the gardevoir in the wild is Least Concern due to its wide range and its tolerance to most of human activities.
