Gabriel Garza 2 is American 2014 3D Computer Animated Adventure Comedy Film produced by Gingo Animation and Universal Animation Studios for Universal Pictures. 17 features in Universal Animated Features canon, it was directed by series creator Geo G. and written by Geo, Dan Fogelman, Erica Rivinoja, and Brian Lynch from story by Geo, and is sequel to Gabriel Garza, which began Reboot Franchise of Gabriel Garza Series. Sometime after the 1st film, Gabriel, Roge, Leno, Cole, and Loy go to visit Donnie Stampla, Loy old friend and assistant, along with his 2 enthusiastic children Lily and Lester Stampla. But reunion quickly takes bizarre turn when New Foe arrive in Sinking Spring, with plan to transform all of Garza brothers Elves into leek monsters.
Zachary Gordon, Elijah Wood, Alexander Gould, Jonathan Morgan Heit, Hayden Panettiere, with Frankie Jonas, and Alan Tudyk reprise their roles as Gabriel, Roge, Leno, Cole, Claire, Jan, and Loy, respectively. New cast members include Isla Fisher as Lily Stampla, Jake T. Austin as Lester Stampla, with David Tennant as Donnie Stampla, and Rob Corddry as Mr. Leek.
Gabriel Garza 2 premiere at Annecy International Festival on June 25, 2014, and was release in US on July 2, 2014. It was met with positive reviews from critics and was nominated for 2015 Annie Award for Best Animated Feature, losing to Big Hero 6. In 2011, after Gabriel Garza was 1 release, series creator and director Geo G. commented on possible sequel stating look like we answer most important question about another Gabriel Garza. we love to bring those characters to big screen back once more, but we have started writing it yet. We have bunch of other ideas. In 2011, Universal Animation Studios and Gingo Animation announced that sequel had been greenlit, and was set for release. In 2013, which was later rescheduled to July 2, 2014. In 2012, it was announced that Erica Rivinoja had been hired to do rewrites of original screenplay by Dan Fogelman. In 2012, Universal announced that sequel would be title Lost In Read, but it was later title as Gabriel Garza 2 in 2013, as market research did like it.
In 2012, Rob Corddry was cast as villain, while Isla Fisher was in early negotiations Fisher previously work with Universal and Gingo as voice of Nina in BJ and Wally. Geo tweet in 2012, that Fisher had been cast in film. In 2012, Universal announced that Zachary Gordon, Elijah Wood, Alexander Gould, Jonathan Morgan Heit, Hayden Panettiere, Frankie Jonas, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jack McBrayer, with Chloë Grace Moretz, and Alan Tudyk would reprise their roles for sequel. Several merchandises were made for Gabriel Garza 2, such as toys and figurines. Universal team up with market partners in US and UK to promo film through McDonald's Happy Meals with set of 11 toys. Art Of Gabriel Garza 2 was published on June 26, 2014 by Sharon Gosling and Adam Newell with foreword by Geo and shows artwork that went into making of film, with storyboards, research photographs, and character sketches.
Video Game based on film was release on June 10, 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U.
