Five Nightmares at Freddy's is a survival horror game and a reboot to the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.

Plot[]

  • Opening: As a child, Mike Schmidt was in the hospital after suffering a bite on the shoulder but entered a peaceful dream where he met some interesting characters: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate. He was scared of them but they calmed him down and made him into their friend. They fed him, played with him, and even took care of him. Eventually, he had to leave to recover from his injury and they understood but he knew one day, they'll meet again.
  • Day 1: 10 years later, a now teenaged Mike wakes up in the morning and begins a usual routine of eating breakfast with his family, attending school, and getting ready for Summer. However, his family is behind on cash, he is outcasted at school for his childhood obsession, bullied by the sadastic Juvie 4 and people are now distant from him because they want him to grow up. He then sees something about Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and decides to get a job there as a night guard but keeps it a secret from his sister or friends because he fears that they would either force him to not go or to mock him. Instead, he writes a note about having a night shift. At the place, he meets the manager Scott Cawthon and have a friendly greeting but the owner Dave Miller is rude to him and tells him to hurry up. However, Scott trusts in Mike and agrees to hire him. At night, he takes a car to the place and goes to do his job but gets worried to see a different guard quickly leaving after thanking Mike. Despite this, he still goes in and gets changed into his uniform.
  • Night 1: Once 12:00 A.M. begins, Mike gets a call from Scott and is welcomed to the establishment while being introduced to the animatronics: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox. Scott then tells him that his job is to watch the monitors, look out for any intruders, close the doors when absolutely necessary, and to treat the animatronics with respect but does warn him that if they see him, he'll only be seen as an endoskeleton and be put into a costume, that has cross beams, wires, and other materials that could cause comfort and death. However, he thinks that Mike will be fine and just suggests following the rules of a game for the animatronics.
  • Day 2: Once the morning begins, Mike angrily confronts Dave and scolds him for not informing him about what's going on but Dave dismisses him and demands him not to quit or he will sue him. When Mike presses on, Dave suddenly slaps Mike and yells at him, which Scott fortunately stops. After Mike correctly accuses Dave of treating his family like that, Scott sympathetically tells Mike to just continue the job and Mike does agree but warns them that he'll quit after the job's done. At his house, he gets ready for school but is confronted by Mary. Despite wanting everyone to know, he reluctantly lies about working somewhere else and hopes that she buys the lie. She doesn't believe him but let's it go for now. At school, he's trying to study hard but is so tired from the previous night. As he's starting to fall asleep, Jeremy pulls a prank on him by putting a snake on him but he surprisingly didn't react to it. The teacher notices but instantly blames him and tells him to go to the circus to play with the animals, making the class laugh. However, Mike just ignored this, which Cheryl notices and is getting worried. At the lockers, Cheryl talks with him but he tries to kindly brush her off and assure that it's nothing. She presses on but before he can accidentally snap at her, he sees a Freddy plushie and falls to the floor in shock. Jeremy laughs at this and admits to being the one who put it there but Mike angrily pins him to the locker and asks what's his fear. However, Cheryl stops him and Mike apologizes before walking away. Jeremy looked surprised by this and wondered what just happened. After calming down, Mike waited at home until nighttime to get back to work.
  • Night 2: At 12:00 A.M., Scott congrats Mike for making it to the 2nd day but warns him that Foxy is now active on this night and that he's a good runner. At 1:00 A.M., Bonnie and Chica just went eye wide at this and questioned this but Freddy was excited and happily finger whistled for their friend, who just came out of Pirate's Cove with a smirk. However, Mike was happy to see him because Foxy was his favorite, much to the fox's surprise but now happiness.
  • Day 3: At daylight, something happens to Mike and he suddenly becomes aggressive to friends and bullies alike, which he gets worried about and wonders what's wrong with him. Even worse, he unintentionally hits Cheryl during a fight with Jeremy and gets so remorseful that he runs away from school, much to her concern.
  • Night 3: At 12:00 A.M., Scott is being impressed by Mike's progress but warns him that Freddy gets dangerous on this night. However, Mike gets angry during this night and unintentionally yells at Bonnie, who is getting concerned instead of upset. Despite this, Freddy gets aggressive at this and tries attacking Mike, who gets worried at Freddy's anger as well. However, Bonnie decides to have them both sleep to calm them down. It turns out that some mysterious influence is infecting them and they decide to gain control of their emotions. They succeeded and Mike feels remorse for how he acted.
  • Day 4: In the morning, Mike decides to make amends with everyone he got angry at. At home, he saves his sister Mary from an abusive ex and gives her the diary she lost. He assures her that he didn't read it and wants to know why she's distant from him. She admits that she actually wants him to grow up and move on from his trauma but now has come to understand that Mike just needed help. He accepts the answer and goes to school. At school, Mike sees Cheryl and gives her flowers as an apology but Jeremy throws a football again. However, Mike just smiles and kindly throws it back, which Jeremy just laughs at. Mike notices Fritz and gives him a wave, which he replies back. Despite this, they find out about his job but decide to support him. After school, they all make plans to hang out there. At 9:00 P.M., they go there and meet the animatronics, who kindly greet the group. They have fun with them and even party all night for 1 hour. However, Dave arrives at 10:00 P.M. and angrily yells at the kids for coming here but Mike stands up for them and claims to have let them in only for Dave to yell at him to shut up and threaten that he'll deal with him later. Cheryl tries defending Mike but Dave rudely orders her to get out of the way and inappropriately calls her sweetheart and honey, much to her offense and disgust. Mike tells him to not call her that but Dave claims that he can call her whatever he likes since he likes them young, much to their disgust. However, Scott arrives and glares at Dave, warning him to back off or he won't like how this ends. The animatronics agree with Scott and also glare at Dave, who finally does back off but still threatens the kids to leave by saying that he'll call the cops on them. Not wanting his friends to get in trouble, Mike reluctantly tells them to leave, which they agree but don't blame him at all and just glare at Dave for his rude behavior. As they leave, Dave sarcastically claims that he'll make sure to hear Mike's screams so he'll know where to find his body, causing Cheryl to angrily call him an a**hole and Jeremy to flip Dave off. Scott apologizes to Mike and the others for Dave's awful behavior and will try to correct him for this. At 11:00 P.M., Mike changes into his uniform but does still apologize to his friends for Dave's behavior, which they brush off and only blame Dave for how he acted.
  • Night 4: At 12:00 A.M., Scott is happy that Mike is doing a good job and because of that, Mike is also now going to bond with the group. Mike gives Bonnie a new guitar as an apology and spends some time with the others. At 1:00 A.M., Mike sees the Juvie 4 on the monitor and is shocked that they're breaking into the place. He then decides to call the police but only to be shocked when his doors close and gets a message from the animatronics that tells him that they'll handle this. At 2:00 A.M., Kevin was in the arcade and smashing machines for slot coins but encounters Bonnie. However, he chooses to insult the bunny but the latter pushes him down and picks up his burnt guitar before using it to bludgeoned Kevin, killing him as he didn't have time to scream.
  • Day 5: In the morning, Mike has finally had it with the animatronics and finally confronts Scott and Dave. Dave just rudely orders him to go away but Scott had enough of lying and shows Mike all the missing reports of previous night guards. The company thought that they were unable to get the place shut down so they decided to hire night guards to keep the characters at bay and that the animatronics are actually the murdered children themselves. They have mistaken Mike for the killer and want revenge. He also finally reveals that the founder William Afton was a serial killer who murdered the children and stuff them inside the suits before he himself disappeared and was never seen again. Dave orders Scott to shut up or he's fired but Scott stands up to him and claims that Dave was more eager with this ritual. Dave finally admits it but claims that it's not their problem that these people can't do their jobs. However, Mike angrily calls him a monster and scolds him for what he's done but Dave abusively yells at him to shut up and claims that he owns him and the animatronics, who actually get angry at Dave's comment. Scott is disgusted and also calls out Dave for his true nature while Mike is even more worried that Dave probably enslaves his family as well, which the guy also doesn't deny. Mike finally gets fed enough with Dave and punches him in the face before leaving. Dave holds his bleeding nose and tries to yell at Mike but Scott tells Dave to shut up and also leaves while the other employees didn't stop Mike and tell Dave that they quit. At home, he starts preparing for the final night and decides to fight the monsters himself. As he prepares for it, he gives a note to Mary to finally tell the truth about what's going on and that he loves her. At school, Mike encounters Cheryl and finally confesses to her about his feelings while telling her what's going on and he's sorry that he never told her sooner. Cheryl is stunned by this but assures him that she can make a broadcast out of it and let everyone know what's going on. He thanks her and kisses her, which she happily returns. Jeremy congratulates him on that and Mike is stunned by this. They finally tell him that they found out what's going on and show concern for him but he tells them that he can't quit or he'll get sued. They encourage him to finish this night and never go back. At night, he has one last meal with his sister and she finally apologizes for how she acted towards him, which he lets her know that she's right about him needing to grow up and has decided to do the job one last time to move on from his past. She supports him doing this and lets him know that she loves him. They then hug it out and her friends also join in, even the mean ones. They then give Mike his uniform and wish him luck. At 11:00 P.M., Mike arrives and Dave rudely asked him what took him so long but Mike finally stands up to him by knocking him out with another punch to the face and says "F**k You" to him before entering, which everyone online saw and even laughed at it. As he tries to yell at Mike, the young man closes the entrance and locks it before flipping Dave off with a smirk and walking to the office as Dave realizes something and tries to get in to no avail.
  • Night 5: Once 12:00 A.M. begins for the last time, Scott calls again and reveals that the public is finding out about what's happening because this final night is being broadcasted but the call becomes disturbing because Scott's been found and is about to be killed. Scott tells him to forget the pay day and to just kill the animatronics, which Mike promises him that he will. Then the jingle is heard but Scott accepts his fate and wishes Mike good luck and goodbye before being jump scared and killed. Mike decides to indeed take down the murderous animatronics. However, Dave demands him to stay down and just do his job or he's fired. Everyone was getting appalled at this abusive behavior but they all get shocked when they see that Mike is not wearing his uniform and he throws it away. He then smugly tells Dave that he quits and also gives him a speech about why the guy is such a pathetic coward who might have a backstory to why he's jerk but now tells him it doesn't excuse his irritating attitude towards others and he doesn't have to feel bad for him while claiming that no one cares at all. He also does believe that Dave mistreats his own family and expresses sympathy for them having such a pathetic excuse for a husband and father who's just a cowards that thinks he's so tough picking on others to make himself feel superior. He then tells him that kind of behavior is getting old and pathetic before calling him a weak old man and finally telling him to do everyone a favor by shutting up and letting him do his job. Dave is shocked at Mike's back talk but gets more shocked when everyone sides with Mike and also call out Dave for his behavior. When Dave angrily tries to reprimand him, Mike reminds him that when he's done, he's not going to listen to Dave anymore and he's also going to make sure that Dave goes to jail for life. Dave smugly claims that he'll be free but Mike takes out a recorder on his phone and plays the argument he had with Dave, exposing the guy's true nature. As Dave tries to defend himself, an officer sends out a warrant for Dave's arrest and to charge him with multiple accounts of murder and attempted murder. Mike then smugly says good night to Dave and also tells him to "F**k off", making everyone cheer and Dave angry. At 1:00 A.M., Mike then picks Foxy first and finds him in the dining area. Foxy threatens to feast on his face and starts attacking him but Mike finally snaps and starts fighting back leading to a boss fight, which actually shocks Foxy himself at how Mike can fight back. Mike wins and beats Foxy until the left side of his head is broken. He then rips the hook arm off and impales Foxy in the head with it, killing him. The audience and animatronics were shocked but the former declared it bad a**. However, Dave gets angry and tries getting in to confront Mike, who laughs at Dave's attempts to come in. Freddy glares at the smirking Mike and finally agrees that this means war. At 2:00 A.M., Mike spots Chica in the kitchen and she sadistically asks if he's ready for dinner. Another boss fight happens and Mike wins again. He manages to break Chica's hands off and finishes her off by striking her jaw with axe, killing her. This angers Bonnie, who may have loved Chica. At 3:00 A.M., Mike locates Bonnie in the bathroom and the said bunny decides to play mind games with him. After the sadistic mind games, he attacks Mike but our protagonist manages to fight him back and defeat him. He finishes Bonnie off by breaking his upper face on the urinal and ripping the said face off. At 4:00 A.M., Mike decides to have fun and manages to finish the last minigame, making everyone cheer for his victory. However, he gets held at gunpoint by Dave, who finally reveals his true nature as a corrupt and greedy man who cares more about the reputation than innocent lives and had known about what's been happening all along. Mike tries to reason with him but Dave still doesn't care and threatens to silence anyone who ruins his horrible plans of sacrificing anyone to the animatronics so he can finally be rich and live his own happy life. When seeing the audience, he finally reveals his true nature to them and admits that he doesn't care about them or their children but instead cares more about his dreams of becoming rich and being paid to cover up crimes before then selfishly blaming Mike for starting to ruin his life by surviving the nights, standing up to him, and causing him to be exposed now with no job, no mistress, and that he now has to be going to jail. However, Mike sees that the missing posters also showed his parents and is angered that Dave admits to sacrificing them before claiming that Mike is next and cruelly insults Mike's parents as useless nobodies who couldn't do their job right, angering everyone and especially Mike. He then yells for Freddy to come and get Mike but when Freddy shows up, Dave abusively berates him for failing to kill Mike and demands him to stop being such a useless dumb animal who can't do his job, pretty much acting like an abusive master and owner to a pet or toy. Freddy then sees a picture of his parents and tearfully misses them but Dave goes too far by snatching it and ripping it apart while yelling at him to grow up and stop being such a crybaby, much to everyone's horror and disgust. However, an angry Freddy also stands up to Dave and decides to murder him by clawing him in half as punishment for abusing him and his friends as Mike and everyone online watches in shock. Despite this, Freddy is still angered by his friends' deaths and tries avenging them by attacking Mike and temporarily incapacitating him but Mike survives and decides to prepare for battle, which Freddy honorably decides to let him recover. At 5:00 A.M., Mike makes some weapons and Freddy agrees to fight him, which everyone is interested to see. After they stared each other down, they then start fighting but Mike becomes better this time and manages to beat Freddy. The said bear is too injured to fight but does accept his defeat. The audience encourages Mike and starts chanting to him to Finish Freddy, which Freddy nods to him. Mike does so out of mercy by ripping Freddy's head off, much to the cheering of the audience. Mike smirks and shows Freddy's ripped head before throwing it to the floor. He then goes back to his office but sees Golden Freddy. However, he gives Mike a smile and a nod of respect, which Mike smiles back and salutes him. After the animatronic disappears, Mike waits until 6:00 A.M hits, finally completing the night and setting Mike free from his miserable job and his traumatic childhood.
  • Ending: Mike starts seeing his old childhood versions of the animatronics smiling at him and thanking him for stopping them. They then show him the entrance which is covered in light. He starts to walk towards it and opens it as the white end credits roll and Pocket full of sunshine song plays. After the credits, Mike receives a check that says he will be given 10,000 dollars for an excellent job at Freddy's, getting rid of the animatronics, and compensation for his troubles while a newspaper reveals that the place is closing down due to the current murders and that Scott's given a funeral while nobody cares that Dave died.

Humans[]

  • Mike Schmidt: The protagonist of the game. He knew the gang since childhood and still acts like an adorable person. However, he gets bullied in school because of it but things change when he lands a job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
  • Cheryl Roberts: Mike's love-interest. She seems to like him too and is sympathetic towards him while getting mad at her former friends for bullying him. She is revealed to have a mutual attraction to him
  • Jeremy Fitzgerald: Mike's rival and bully. However, he does show concern when the animatronics try to kill Mike and starts to feel bad for bullying him. It turns out that he also likes that place but felt embarrassed.
  • Vicki Lewis: Mike's ex-girlfriend and Jeremy's current girlfriend. She cheated on Mike for his obsession with his childhood, his life in poverty, and because he wasn't ready for sex but then regrets it and gets worried upon finding out about Mike's job.
  • Fritz Smith: Mike's best-friend and a popular guy at school. However, their friendship is being strained due to Fritz's popularity and not doing anything to help him out but then this changes when Mike gets in danger.
  • Tina Carter: Fritz' girlfriend who used to know Mike but distanced herself from him due to how he still lives on his childhood. However, she does show concern when he gets targeted by animatronics.
  • Kevin Rodney: Mike's classmate who doesn't interact with him but is known by him. However, he does show concern when Mike is getting targeted by the animatronics.
  • Melissa Vanroe: Kevin's girlfriend who also doesn't interact with Mike at all but is known by him. However, she does show concern when Mike is getting targeted by the animatronics.
  • Mary Schmidt: Mike's older sister and will be the protagonist of the spin-off. She actually seems to act like his legal guardian and takes care of him very well. She knows that he runs a night shift but didn't know it was Freddy's. Of course, she distanced herself because of his obsession with Freddy's and just wants him to be normal but then becomes nicer upon finding out about his PTSD from the past and now wants to make amends with him. She shows concerns when finding out about the animatronics' true nature.
  • Barry Davis: Mary's boyfriend. Just like his friends, he was distant from Mike but he does show support for him and gets worried when finding out about the animatronics' true nature. However, he himself is a fan of the Fazbear gang and feels like a hypocrite for how he's treating Mike. He helps Mary raise Mike and try to help him out when he's getting tired.
  • Max Batson: Barry's best-friend. Just like his friends, he was distant from Mike but he does show support for him and gets worried when finding out about the animatronics' true nature.
  • Olivia Langstrom: Mary's best-friend and surrogate sister to Mike. Just like her friends, she was distant from Mike but she still supported him and showed concern when finding out about the animatronics true nature.
  • Marilyn Sherie: Mary's rival. She is very abusive towards Mike and insults him for his childhood trauma, not caring about his PTSD. However, she gets horrified by the animatronics' true nature.
  • Simon Fritz: Marilyn's boyfriend. Just like her, he's sometimes a complete jerk towards Mike and insults him for acting like a kid but does show concern and horror when the animatronics' true nature is revealed.
  • Scott Cawthon: He's the manager of the establishment and the phone guy. Unlike the original games, he shows genuine care and concern for Mike's safety and treats him as a friend. His last call is on Night 5 where he is killed after going to save Mike.
  • Dave Miller: The owner of the establishment and Scott's superior. He knows about what's going on but doesn't care at all and threatens to sue Mike if he dares quit. However, he does get killed for how he treats Freddy.
  • Henry Emily: The overarching protagonist of the game and the posthumous CEO of Fazbear Entertainment.
  • William Afton: The overarching antagonist of the game and the posthumous founder of the establishment. He is secretly a murderer who caused the events of the story.
  • Juvie 4: A quartet of bullies and juvenile thugs that terrorize people for fun and laughs while mostly bullying Mike the most and making fun of his childhood trauma without any remorse. Even Jeremy hates them and thinks that they're worse than him. However, their antics led to their downfall when choosing the dumb choice of robbing a haunted establishment and this caused them dearly for life.

Animatronics[]

  • Freddy Fazbear: The titular mascot and the main antagonist. Due to Mike's childhood, they know each other.
  • Bonnie the Bunny: Freddy's best friend.
  • Chica the Chicken: The female member of the group.
  • Foxy the Pirate: The pirate of the group and the most dangerous of them all. Instead of just screaming at the player during a jump scare, he now gets inside the office and charges at the player if they fail to close the door, most likely biting them or stabbing them with a hook. It's revealed that he did this to a 4th nightguard and it proved how important Foxy is. Sadly, he is mistreated by Bonnie and Chica because of the Bite incident but Freddy still loves him and treats him with respect.

Extras[]

  • Carl the Cupcake: An obvious cupcake animatronic that resides in the office but is helpful and just chooses to stay with Mike. He proves instrumental in exposing Dave Miller's crimes.
  • Golden Freddy/Goldie: A mysterious animatronic form and actually an anti-hero who influences Mike. However, he's still the boss of the animatronics and they also see him as their leader or just their entity.

T.V. Tropes[]

  • Abusive Parents: During an argument, Mike's response to be hit and yelled at by Dave is to accuse the guy of doing that to his own wife and kids, which Dave seems to not deny and this implies that he might an abusive father and husband who doesn't care about his family and is probably only doing his job for the money, not for anyone else. Even worse, the creators confirmed this and also reveal that he cheats on his wife with someone younger while starving them and not letting his wife get a job just to own her. Even worse, the robbers he hired are bullies at his son's school and he hired them to bully his son in his twisted way of making him grow up and toughen up.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: A few people have this:
    • Since Mike isn't Michael Afton and instead a teenager, he still has his good looks and doesn't get scooped.
    • The animatronics sometimes look like people in costumes right now but aren't really bad looking.
  • Adaptational Heroism: A few characters are this:
    • Unlike the canon timeline, the animatronics act friendly towards Mike and actually keep him awake during their game while also even sparing a lost little boy and spending time with Mike's friends.
    • Unlike the canon timeline, the phone guy is now loyal and does care about the protagonists.
    • Unlike the canon timeline, Golden Freddy is actually a secret ally and is only motivating Mike to defeat Springtrap. Justified as it's actually Henry Emily that's possessing the suit this time and it's obvious that he wouldn't blame Mike for what's going on.
  • Adaptational Jerka**: Jeremy Fitzgerald is a bully in this and is nothing like his canon self who was no doubt a responsible person but he does get better.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overgoal: Unlike canon, Mike and Springtrap are not related at all but are just instead enemies to each other. However, Mike is revealed to actually be the guy's grand-nephew through marriage.
  • Adaptational Villainy: He was never really good but Dave Miller is no longer William Afton anymore and is now just an abusive and corrupt man who tries to sacrifice Mike to the animatronics and also enslaves his own family with no remorse.
  • Affably Evil: Despite hunting Mike, the animatronics are still friendly towards him and just want to make sure he follows the rules while treating his job as an innocent game. They know he's up to the challenge and usually don't get mad at him for his fear of them because they understand that they are attacking him when they actually just want to move on to the afterlife. Even Mike doesn't hate them and can understand that the place happens to be their home right now.
  • A**hole Victim: The animatronics are not treated as this since they have reasons to be evil but some other people are this:
    • Dave Miller is easily not missed by everyone, not even Mike feels saddened by the guy's death but was only shocked by how brutal it was and was more worried about Freddy appearing due to the said leader being vengeful now. As a matter of fact, everyone only mourned Scott but could care less about Dave due to his true nature being revealed to the public. Even his own family were happy at his death due to how he treated them.
    • Even Mike didn't seem saddened by the Juvie 4's deaths but was still shocked by how brutal their deaths were and got worried about the animatronics hurting people. Not even their families ever mourn them nor even try to look for them.
  • Big Bad: Freddy Fazbear in the story mode, Springtrap in the DLC, and Dave Miller in a spin-off video.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Dave Miller is considered this as he's the owner of the establishment and has always tricked night guards into getting killed by the animatronics as a sacrifice so he can get paid to cover up the crimes and profit from their deaths. However, he's a lesser threat than the titular antagonist but still would make a true main antagonist if the animatronics were good guys. He does serve as the main antagonist of the spin-off video The Bosses, which shows him as a horrible husband and father that abuses his family, cheats on his wife, starves them with only smaller leftover food, refuses to let his wife get a job just so he can own her, forced his own daughter to do dangerous housework by yelling at her or even whipping her with a belt, hired the robbers to bully his son so he can make him grow up and toughen up, tried to kill his own dog for biting him to stop him, and threatened his own wife into not leaving him. He even served as threat to Scott Cawthon, who is the protagonist of the video and had saved the family from him by destroying the trackers and having them take a car while Dave is unconscious.
  • Bigger Bad: Springtrap is the man behind all of this and proves to be a bigger threat than the titular antagonist and Dave Miller.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Bosses video ends with Dave's family finally being free from him and being happy that he's gone for good but still mourn Scott's death and have to make a funeral for him. However, they still have support from Mike's supporters and even got a good life now.
  • Complete Monster: Dave Miller is the corrupt, abusive, and manipulative owner of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria who doesn't care about the night guards, his family, nor the children at all but instead only cares about his pay day and keeping his job at all costs. He knows about what the animatronics have done to innocent night guards but chooses to let the said guards die and tries to cover everything up just to keep his job and get paid. Even worse, Mike's parents were killed as well and Dave still covered it up. Even before his true nature's revealed, he's acts like a dismissive jerk towards Mike and rudely tells him to do his job while his partner Scott Cawthon is at least nice to Mike and shows concern for his safety. When Mike finds out how dangerous the job is, Dave doesn't care at all about Mike's life and forces him to not quit with the threat of unfairly suing him if he does. When Mike tries to call him out, he is suddenly slapped by Dave and yelled at to do his job, which Scott fortunately stops and scolds Dave for doing that. Heck, Mike then accuses Dave of treating his family like that and Dave doesn't even deny that accusation, which implied that he's an abusive husband and father who treats his own family like that and it's later confirmed that he does treat them like that. When Mike is progressing through the night, Dave still treats him terribly and doesn't show gratitude for Mike's hard work but instead claims that it took him long enough. When Mike's classmates came to support him, Dave shows hostility towards them and even inappropriately calls Cheryl sweetheart or honey, which she rightfully shows disgust towards and demands him to not call her that. When Mike tries to stand up for her, Dave yells at him to stay out of this and claims he can call her whatever he likes since he claims to like them young, indicating that he also cheats on his wife with younger girls and is a misogynistic pedophile that is confirmed to be true. He then even threatens Mike that if they show up again, he will report them for trespassing, which forces a reluctant Mike to ask them to leave. After they left, he warns them to not come back ever again and also sarcastically assures them that he'll make sure to hear Mike's scream so he can know where to find the body, causing Cheryl to angrily call Dave an a**hole and Jeremy to flip the bird. When Mike finds out what's happening, Dave tries to dismiss him but then ends up admitting it and showing no remorse nor care at all for what happened to innocent people. When Mike angrily calls him out for it and calls him a monster, Dave yells at him to watch who he's talking to and claims to own him and the animatronics, which makes Mike now accuse him of enslaving his family that Dave doesn't deny and it's later on confirmed that Dave has starved his own family with only smaller leftover food and refused to let his wife get a job just so he can own her. When Mike returns for a final night, Dave rudely told him what took so long, only to be rightfully punched in the face by Mike. After Scott's death and Mike's declaration to end this, Dave yells at him to stand down and finish his job but gets shocked when Mike changes into normal clothes and angrily quits before giving Dave the Reason You Suck Speech, which Mike indicates that Dave could have a sad and miserable past but points out that it doesn't excuse the guy at all and simply tells the man to just grow up, shut up, and let him do his job. When Mike is destroying the animatronics in self-defense, Dave gets angry and goes to the place to confront him. When arriving, he holds Mike at gunpoint and finally reveals his evil nature as a corrupt man who cares more about his payday and is willing to make sacrifices for his own selfish and greedy needs while vowing that he would even sacrifice his own family to make his dreams come true and threatens to silence anyone who gets in the way of his dreams. During his breakdown, it's also revealed that he hired the Juvie 4 to trash Freddy's and steal stuff just to get Mike fired and reveals that they were bullies at his son's school, meaning that he also might've hired them to bully his son in his own twisted way of making him grow up and just toughen up. When Mike finally remembers what happened to his parents, Dave smugly admits and still shows no remorse but instead cruelly mocks them as useless nobodies who had it coming for failing at their job. He then spends his last moments demanding Freddy to kill Mike and doing it in an abusive tone that shows he also abuses the animatronics as well and treats them like slaves to use for his own needs while also going too far by ripping up a picture of Freddy's human family and yelling at him to stop being such a useless crybaby, which only leads to his own downfall as even Freddy has had enough of the guy's abusive and evil nature. The Bosses spin-off video pretty much confirms how much of a horrible person he is by abusing his family, cheating on his wife with a younger woman, starves them by refusing to share food but instead only leaves smaller portions for them, hired the robbers to also bully his son as a twisted way of growing up and toughening up, forced his own daughter to do very dangerous chores by cruelly whipping her with a belt without any concern for her well-being, tried to kill the family dog for rightfully disobeying him and biting him, disrespected his own in-laws, refused to let his own wife have a job because he wanted to own her, lock any of them in the closet or basement for a cruel punishments, and even worse of all, he admitted his crimes to his wife but showed no remorse for them and even threatened her into not leaving him by assaulting her and even nearly choking her to death. When Scott tried to intervene, he pointed his gun at the guy and threatened him into not interfering while even threatening the family as well, which Scott was forced to let the situation go but still wants Dave to pay for it. During a conversation with the Juvie 4, he is confirmed to have hired them and found the idea of killing Mike very tempting but only shuts that idea down because it would be suspicious and not out of actual standards. Heck, his reason for hiring them is to get Mike out of the way. When the events of the 5th night happened, he finally found out about his family leaving him and angrily threatened them that when he deals with Mike, he's coming for then. Even as a ghost, he still doesn't see what he did was wrong and claims that he'll forgive his wife if she comes back to him, only for her to rightfully hang up on him and remove his number which left him unable to contact her again.
  • Death By Adaptation: The animatronics get destroyed instead of just being left alone by Mike but it's now justified as it's now the only way to stop them or get pass them.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: The story mode and DLC have this:
    • After spending 5 nights in a life-threatening job, Mike finally completes all the nights and gets paid while also finally being allowed to not come back and the place gets shut down. Of course, the manager is dead and his family needs to be comforted but the owner is at least dead as well and has been exposed for the monster he is while his long-suffering family is free from him.
    • After what he went through, Michael finally manages to defeat Springtrap and is rescued by authorities. Sadly, this won't last long but it's still going to remain happy for now.
    • Dave's family also has this because after suffering from him for too long, they are finally free from his abuse after he dies in the story and get financial support from Mike's supporters to help them move on. Heck, Mike helps them out with their happy ending by getting them a home to stay into and giving them counseling to move on from him. Of course, Dave's spirit tries calling Ellen to please come back with him and claims that he'll forgive her if she does but she fortunately had enough of him and hangs up on him while deleting his number and blocking it, setting her free from him forever.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Not Dave but instead, the animatronics themselves.
    • Despite being dangerous killers, the gang clearly care about each other and get mad when the other gets killed.
    • Unlike Bonnie and Chica, Freddy respects Foxy and treats him like family while rightfully scolding the others for mistreating him. He even tearfully comforted Foxy's corpse and screamed in agony at it.
    • Despite how they treat him, Bonnie and Chica still get upset at Foxy's death and actually feel bad for mistreating him.
    • Heck, Freddy even remembers his parents and misses them, which motivates him to kill Dave for his cruelty and ripping up the picture.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: The animatronics have this a few times:
    • On the 1st Day, they welcome Mike to the establishment and treat him kindly while also being annoyed at Dave for his rudeness.
    • On the 1st Night, they also show shock and worry at a young boy being at the place at night due to getting lost and allow Mike to peacefully escort the young boy out to a friendly officer, that takes the boy home.
    • On the 2nd Day, they also too get mad at Dave for slapping Mike and yelling at him for rightfully questioning what's going on.
    • On the 2nd Night, they scold Foxy for cheating at the so-called game by scratching Mike's officer door with the hook, which even Foxy agrees shouldn't be allowed at all and honorably don't use that advantage but instead fix the door in the morning.
    • On the 3rd Day,
    • On the 3rd Night, they show concern for Mike's anger and don't even hunt him down for unintentionally yelling at Bonnie while also giving Mike some time to rest so he can calm down.
    • On the 4th Day, they allowed Mike and his friends to have fun and even stand up for them when Dave was being very rude to them while showing disgust at him for being inappropriate towards Cheryl.
    • On the 4th Night, they only killed the Juvie 4 because they were trespassing and robbing the place while they also already know that Dave sent that gang just to incriminate Mike and they also help clean up the place to save Mike's job.
    • On the 5th Night, Freddy killing Dave is confirmed to have also been out of disgust towards the guy for setting innocents up to die and caring more about his reputation as well as getting fed up with the guy's abusive behavior.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite covering up the murders, Fazbear Entertainment is also disgusted by Dave Miller and are more then happy to see him get killed. They were even disgusted when they find out how he treats his family and even fire him for it.
  • Face Death With Dignity: When the 5th call is pretty much confirming Scott's demise, he chooses to just accept it and uses his last moments to advise Mike to fight the animatronics.
  • Foreshadowing: Dave left hints that he's a bad guy:
    • On the first day, he immediately hired Mike but rudely rushed him and just told him to do his job without telling him what to do.
    • On the second day, he slapped Mike, yelled at him, and threatened to sue him if he quitted while not denying that he's an abuser.
    • On the third day, he dismissed Mike's mysterious anger and threatened to dock his pay, despite that Mike's been doing a good job.
    • On the fourth day, he was last seen claiming to make sure to hear Mike's screams so he can know where to find the boy's body.
    • All of that managed to let Mike know Dave's true nature and secretly had Cupcake record Dave's confession in the next morning before the 5th night and already send it to the police.
  • For The Evulz: The Juvie 4 have backstory nor any reason to torment Mike but instead, they just enjoy terrorizing people and robbing places just for fun and laughs. Heck, Hank is the one who brought up the idea of killing Mike, which even Dave found tempting but has to shut that idea down just because it would be too suspicious.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: When Mike gives Dave the Reason You Suck Speech on the 5th Night, he indicated that if Dave had a sad life that made him this way, it doesn't excuse him for being a total a**hole to everyone and tells him that nobody cares.
  • Funny: This story has some of it:
    • When the 4th rule of Freddy's comes up, even Mike can't help but laugh at this.
  • Hated By All: Springtrap is still this because he's the one who killed the kids at Freddy's and is taken more seriously but Dave is almost hated than him due to being an uncaring jerk, a corrupt accomplice, and an abusive family man who hurts his own family.
  • Hate Sink: The animatronics are not this since they are tragic but a few other people are:
    • Dave Miller is way worst then Fazbear Entertainment by threatening to sue Mike if he dares quit without completing the nights and was willing to let Mike die just for his own greedy needs which even the company seem to be disgusted by. Besides that, he's also an irritating and pompous a**hole who likes to bully Mike and Scott while getting on their nerves. He doesn't even treat the animatronics right and uses them like slaves that he barks orders at, which caused them to hate him too.
    • The Juvie 4 are sadistic and psychotic juvenile bullies and thugs who terrorize people for no reason other than for fun and laughs but bully Mike the most for his childhood trauma and make fun of him for it without any remorse nor any excuse at all. Even Jeremy hates them because they're worse than him and even their families don't report the gang missing.
  • Heartwarming: Despite how scary it is, it has these moments.
    • It's revealed that as a child, Mike met the animatronics' good selves in the dream world but they befriend him and played games with him while they also saved him from the bad sides. Of course, it didn't last long but they still missed him.
    • During Mike's jobs, the animatronics are still nice to him and sees him as a friend to play with. Heck, they allowed him to bring friends on the 4th day and had a party with them before it got ruined by Dave and they chose to help Scott stand up to Dave's behavior while also apologizing for how Dave treated the others.
    • On the 4th Night, the animatronics bonded with Mike and never harmed him while also helping him fend off the Juvie 4 and also helped him clean up the place so Dave won't fire him. Even Mike is grateful towards them for saving him but is still horrified by the brutal kills.
    • Scott shows kindness towards Mike and tries helping him out by giving him tips to survive while technically warning him to be careful and gave hints to what's really going on. He even accepts his own death and motivates Mike to fight the animatronics.
    • Mike fighting the animatronics is cheered on by everyone watching and they all are starting to respect him now, even those who used to be jerks to him.
    • The ending is also pretty heartwarming because friendly versions of the animatronics are shown giving him the way out of the place as it becomes destroyed.
  • Jerka**: Jeremy Fitzgerald, Vicki Lewis, Marilyn Sherie, and Simon Fritz can be real jerks but they are at least more likable than Dave Miller, who spend the whole game being a complete and total a**hole to everyone for no good reason. And don't forget the Juvie 4, who are not only robbers but also bullies and thugs.
  • Jerka** Has A Point: A few of them are not usually wrong:
    • While Jeremy and a few people are being mean to Mike for acting like his childhood self, they aren't wrong about wanting him to grow up and actually thinks that he needs to move on from his past, which Mike actually shows appreciation for.
    • While Dave was a jerk to Mike's friends, he wasn't wrong that they were partying in the establishment without permission and could get arrested. However, the way he handled it was very unacceptable and he was being very inappropriate towards Cheryl.
  • Named By The Adaptation: Springtrap or even Purple Guy himself are both obviously William Afton himself but the Phone Guy's real name is named Scott Cawthon after his voice actor and could obviously be a fictional version of him.
  • Nice Guy: Mike Schmidt, Cheryl Roberts, and Scott Cawthon are pretty much the nicest characters in the story and Scott is pretty much more trustworthy than Dave due to how he handles a situation appropriately and rightfully scolds Dave for his rudeness.
  • Police Are Useless: The reason why Mike can't call the police and report murders happening because they wouldn't believe him if he told them that the animatronics are killing people. Not to mention, he also knows the company would cover it up. However, that ends when Mike reveals Dave's true nature to the public and the police take the recording seriously, planning to charge Dave with multiple accounts of murder and attempted murder.
  • Reason You Suck Speech: When Mike stands up to Dave on the 5th Night, he also starts giving a long speech about how pathetic Dave is being and how much of a coward he is. He even points out that Dave could have a sad past to what made him this way but doesn't think he should feel bad for him because he's choosing to be a jerk to everyone for no reason and that he only feels bad for the guy's family having him as a horrible husband and father. He claims his behavior is getting old and pathetic before finally telling him to shut up and let him do his last job. Not surprisingly, he gets cheers for calling the guy out and pretty much what he said to him.
  • Tragic Hero: Mike has a tragic past which involved the restaurant and wants to save the spirits.
  • Tragic Villain: The animatronics are technically this since they were murdered when they were human.
  • Would Hurt A Child: Springtrap is obviously the one who murdered the children but Dave is just as worst because he willingly slaps Mike and doesn't deny abusing his own kids while also being willing to kill Mike and found the idea of it very tempting.
  • Wouldn't Hurt A Child: The animatronics love kids so much that they don't hurt them, which makes sense because they entertain kids and actually like them to the point of letting Mike escort a stowaway boy out for his safety.
