North American wild dog (SciiFii)

The North American wild dog (Neolycaon americanum americanus), North American painted dog or North American hunting dog, is a subspecies of American wild dog that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced to the open prairies, open woodlands, grasslands and savannas of North America to help boost biodiversity. They are mainly found across Texas, Montana, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho.

The North American wild dogs are closely similar to the African wild dogs, but are darker in fur color. During the winter, in areas where it gets cold, they are known to have thicker fur to survive the cold. Despite their African wild dog-like appearances, the North American wild dogs, like all Neolycaon dogs, are actually most closely related to the bush dogs, which are also native to the Americas, thanks to genetic research confirming this.

They are highly social animals just like the African wild dogs, living in large packs consists of breeding pairs, breeding females and their offspring. They mainly prey on antelopes, pronghorns, elks, deer, bison, etc, although large packs are rarely known to prey on moose or bison calves. Their main rivals are wolves, bears, dholes, cougars, etc.

The conservation status of North American wild dog is Least Concern due to successful efforts and the North American wild dog's wide range.
