I Am Who I Am is an American drama film directed by Peter Sollett and written and produced by Drew Gars. This is the second film in the I'm Not Ashamed trilogy. The film stars Scarlett Johansson, Michael Keaton, Mary Steenburgen, Alison Brie, Dave Franco, John Leguizamo, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sanaa Lathan and Julianne Moore.
Plot[]
Mason Carter, formerly known as Maya, is a trans-man living his everyday life in Chicago. One day, he gets an unexpected visit from her parents (Keaton and Steenburgen) and he reveal his current identity to them, leaving them surprised and skeptic. They tell him that his sister (Brie) is getting married in their hometown and he's invited to be her maid-of-honor. What follows is a series of awkward and discriminative events that’s he’s never experienced in his hometown that lead into the wedding.
