Eteru Kagayuki is the first heartbreakers and one of the female students who currently attends Erito.
Personality[]
- ❝ Eteru and Senpai have been inseparable since childhood. They lived next door to each other, attended the same school, and shared all their joys and sorrows.
Despite this closeness, Etera acts distant and cold towards Senpai. She rarely smiles in his presence, often snaps, and prefers to keep her distance. The reason for this behavior is that Etera harbors deep feelings for Senpai that have long since outgrown friendship, but she is terrified that he might guess her childhood friend's true emotions.
She hides her feelings as best she can, fearing that it will ruin their familiar relationship. However, her secret goal is to confess to him under the old oak tree at the edge of the schoolyard... and nothing can stop her; that day is just around the corner.❞
- ―Description on the official website
Eteru, the game's first heartbreaker, represents the "rational suitor" type. Her interest in Senpai isn't emotional or romantic—it's the result of a cold, almost algorithmic choice. She compiled a detailed profile of all potential candidates at the school and concluded that Senpai optimally meets her criteria for social status, academic performance, and genetic potential. She views him as a profitable investment.
If Eteru witnesses a murder or discovers a body, she won't panic. Her reaction is immediate and pragmatic: she'll gather evidence on her phone, quickly and discreetly leave the scene, and directly contact the police, which is guaranteed to lead to the player's swift and inevitable defeat. She responds skeptically to attempts at befriending or manipulating the player, and only agrees to interact with them if the player's reputation is very high. She's virtually intimidated by overt threats—she perceives them as irrational noise and ignores them.
Eteru is physically weak and will not resist a direct attack, but her main defense is her lifestyle. She avoids secluded places, her schedule is rigidly structured and predictable, and her routes run only through busy and highly visible areas of the school. Her unique vulnerability is a pathological fear of public scandal and damage to her impeccable, years-honored reputation as a rational and successful person. Therefore, the most effective way to eliminate her is not physical elimination, but social annihilation. If the player succeeds in publicly exposing her calculating motives, for example by revealing her "marriage file" or provoking a frank conversation about her true goals in Senpai's presence, she will voluntarily disappear from the city rather than face shame. After such a defeat, she will become a harmless NPC, no longer posing a threat.
Task[]
- ❝ "I need his comb. Not a new one, but the exact one he uses. With a few hairs."❞
- ―Eteru
To complete Eteru's quest, steal Senpai's comb from his bag and return it to Eteru.
Daily schedule[]
Monday[]
Early in the morning, immediately after loading the game, Eteru will stand at her gate, checking the time on her watch against her phone. At precisely 7:00 AM, she will take three steps toward Senpai, who will emerge from his house at that moment. She won't say hello, but simply nod, synchronizing her stride with his first. They will walk to the academy in silence, maintaining a strict distance of five feet.
At 7:11 AM, Eteru will arrive at class and place two identical lunch containers on her desk—one for herself, one "as a spare in case of a system error." She won't worry about taste—the menu is designed for optimal nutrient balance.
At 7:17 AM, she will go out into the east corridor and stand by the third window, observing the students' movements on the landing below for 13 minutes. This is her "morning data collection."
At 7:30 AM, she will receive an automatic notification on her phone. She will check it, and at precisely 7:32 AM, she will go to the library to check out "Statistical Methods of Social Forecasting."
At lunch, at 12:30 PM, she will sit at the western table in the cafeteria, open both containers, and begin eating, strictly following the order: protein, then vegetables, then carbohydrates. She will not offer lunch to Senpai, but if he is within 5 meters, she will discreetly measure the time it takes him to glance in her direction.
At 3:36 PM, she will help clean the classroom, wiping each desk with exactly 12 vertical and 8 horizontal strokes.
At 5:15 PM, she will leave school, having taken exactly 287 steps to her home.
Tuesday[]
In the morning, Eteru will ask Senpai, "What is your resting heart rate?" He will likely not answer. She will write in her notebook: "Reaction - Question Avoidance. Uncertainty Factor: 0.3."
At 7:05 AM, she will go to the chemistry lab to test the pH of the tap water in the sink (this is done every Tuesday).
At lunchtime, at 12:30 PM, she will sit on the same bench in the garden and record in her notebook the number of petals that fell from the nearest quince tree in 10 minutes.
At 1:22 PM, she will return to class and check that her lunch containers have not shifted relative to the desk lines.
At 3:30 PM, she will sweep the east staircase, counting the steps (checking for consistency).
At 4:00 PM, she will stand in the same spot in the east hallway as she did on Monday for her "evening activity check."
At 5:30 PM, before leaving, she will leave a small object (a paperclip) in a specific location on the classroom windowsill, checking tomorrow to see if its position has changed.
Wednesday[]
In the morning, Eteru will check the paperclip. If it is displaced, she will record it under "External Interference." Then she will ask Senpai, "Do you believe in the law of large numbers?"
At 7:05 AM, she will change her shoes, spending exactly 47 seconds on it.
Until 8:00 AM, she will be in the computer lab, creating a graph based on yesterday's petal data.
At 1:04 PM, she will go to the academy's main clock and check her watch, recording any discrepancies.
At 3:30 PM, she will clean the blackboard in classroom 2-2, completely clearing it in exactly 4 minutes.
At 4:00 PM, she will conduct a "check tour" along the following route: classroom -> library -> east corridor -> garden -> exit.
At 5:20 PM, at the gate, she will make eye contact with Senpai, measure the duration of their eye contact (in seconds), and record the data, then leave.
Thursday[]
In the morning, Eteru will show Senpai the temperature graph for the past week and ask if he sees a correlation with his mood. He will likely ignore it.
At 7:00 AM, after arriving at the academy, she will go to the physics room to weigh her textbooks on a precision scale (a weekly check).
At 12:30 PM, she will not eat lunch. Instead, she will sit in the quietest corner of the cafeteria and record 10 minutes of background sounds for frequency analysis.
At 3:30 PM, she will be sorting trash in the courtyard, separating it into categories: paper (white, colored), plastic, and organic waste.
At 4:12 PM, she will climb onto the roof and stand at a pre-marked point with chalk, where she will observe the clouds for exactly one hour, noting their types and speeds.
At 5:24 PM, she will leave the roof, leaving a small mark (a pebble) at her observation point.
Friday[]
In the morning, Eteru will ask Senpai the week's final question: "How predictable do you think your decisions are?" She will likely not receive an answer.
At 7:15 AM, she will report to class and compile a summary table of all the data collected this week.
At 7:25 AM, she will go to the math room to check the calculations on the board left over from the previous lesson.
At 12:30 PM, during lunch, she will break her routine for the first time in a week: she will approach Senpai and hand him an envelope. Inside will be no love letter, but a schedule of optimal days and times for their potential future meetings for the next two months, calculated based on the data collected.
At 3:30 PM, she will be cleaning the windows in the west wing, checking to see if any of the glass is distorting the image beyond acceptable limits.
At 5:02 PM, she will leave a second envelope for Senpai in a slot in her desk, containing the coordinates (latitude/longitude) and the exact time (5:15 PM). If she hasn't been eliminated by then, she will meet him at the calculated point (the geometric center of the school garden) and present him with a final assessment of their compatibility, expressed as a percentage. If the percentage exceeds her threshold (calculated previously), she will deem him a valid candidate, and the game will end.
Relationship[]
Toru Shinji (Senpai)[]
Eteru and Toru have lived next door to each other since childhood, but they can't exactly be called friends. For Eteru, Toru is a familiar, almost inseparable element of her personal landscape, like an old tree in the yard whose shadow she uses to tell time. She's neither rude nor angry with him—she simply barely notices him as a person. She's watched him from her bedroom window her whole life, and the monotonous, predictable rhythm of his life (rising at precisely 6:45, leaving the house at 7:00) gives her a strange, hard-to-explain sense of peace. She doesn't think about love. She thinks that while her own life is a collection of disparate, inconsistent parts, his life is like a complete, simple mechanism. And being near this mechanism is the only way to silence the inner chaos. She doesn't want him, but the silence that comes with his presence.
Miyuki Arakawa[]
Miyuki is the only person Eteru considers a friend. They don't chat about trivial matters or go shopping. Their friendship consists of silent moments spent together in the library or an empty classroom after school. Miyuki, a quiet and reserved girl, doesn't try to pry into anyone's soul or ask questions. Eteru appreciates this lack of pressure. Sometimes they just sit next to each other, each with her own book, and that's enough. Miyuki is like white noise, drowning out the more unpleasant and loud sounds of the world.
Classmates and Others[]
Eteru maintains strictly formal, polite relationships with others. She is considered a bit odd, but harmless, quiet girl. She doesn't engage in gossip, doesn't get into conflicts, and carries out her school duties with mechanical precision. She has no enemies, but no friends either. Teachers see her as a diligent but completely unremarkable student, with no notable talents or shortcomings. Her existence on the school's social map is a neutral, gray area that most simply ignore.
