Elmer The Great Dane is a 2006 live-action film directed by Matt Lopez and music by Christophe Beck, was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and was released on September 23, 2006 along with a 2006 short film Tom and Jerry Go Crazy.

Plot

Elmer (Frank Welker) is a male non-speaking great dane with black fur who was the best doggie there is. At the beginning of the movie, Elmer was a little puppy, he lives in Mexico City surrounded by two Mexican firefighters named Barton and Ayala. Barton said "We have our mission!" And then Ayala said "Elmer, get them!" So, Puppy Elmer raced to the rescue to save the people.

Cast

  • Frank Welker as Elmer The Great Dane, a great dane owned by Mikey Hastings and Katie Hastings and their family. Originally, Elmer lives in Mexico City when he was a puppy, but when he's grown-up, he got captured in Italy and he now lives in Mays Landing with Mikey and his family.
  • Spencer Fox as Mikey Hastings, Mavis and Johnny's adoptive son and Elmer and Jilly's owner.
  • Sarah Vowell as Katie Hastings, a teenage girl and Mikey's big sister and Elmer's owner in the day he met her at Joseph Shaner Elementary School and she became a daughter of Johnny and Mavis.
  • Craig T. Nelson as Johnny Hastings, Mikey and Katie's father.
  • Holly Hunter as Mavis Hastings, Mikey and Katie's mother.
  • Jason Lee as Bob, Travis' best friend and a police officer and the antagonist of the film.

  • Dee Bradley Baker as Fifi, a female doberman pinscher who is Mr. Porter's pet dog who knocked down Mikey making him scream with her loud mighty bark, then she chases Mikey in the courtyard during William Tell Overture In E Major: Fourth March of the Swiss Solders By Gioachino Rossini, and she chases Mikey for the second time when "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen is played in Bob and Travis' radio, and then she later chases Elmer around the street while he was looking for Mikey, Katie and their parents, and got defeated away startled by a pomeranian named Jilly, and was sent to the dog pound by Mr. O'Neil. During the final battle, Elmer attacked her by defeating his mighty charge and his loud mighty bark to scare her away for good.

  • Frank Welker also voices as Landon, a golden retriever and black lab mixed breed dog who is April's pet dog.

  • Frank Welker also voices as Jilly, a pomeranian who barks at Elmer The Great Dane in the back seat of the car, then she uses her loud mighty bark to startle away a female doberman pinscher named Fifi, and then she bites Bob the police officer during the final battle, and finally she was adopted by Mikey Hastings and Katie Hastings and their family, at the end of the movie, she and Elmer made best friends forever.
  • Jason Biggs as Veterinarian, a vet who checks to see if Elmer was cured.
  • Dee Bradley Baker also voices as Stray Cat, a gray striped tabby cat who made a minor appearance when Elmer was looking for Mikey, Katie and their parents.
