Dr. Henry Jekyll is a doctor of medicine living and working in London in late 1886. When he is not treating the poor in his free clinic, he is in his laboratory experimenting. Soon a group of high society Londoners turn up at the residence of Sir Danvers Carew at Regent's Park. Sir Danvers throws a showy party for his daughter Rebecca, for her engagement to Dr. Jekyll. At the party a few guests discuss the nature of good and evil. Soon the conversation turns to the philosophy of Evil and how we all have monsters inside.

With this in mind Jekyll begins his research and experiments into separating the two basic natures of man, the good and the evil. Finally, after much trial and error, he develops a potion that should hypothetically separate the good and evil sides of humanity. He then after debating with himself drinks the potion. Within an hour he goes through a painful transformation into the brutish and evil Mr. Edward Hyde. He gleefully goes out and roams the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of London while tormenting innocent bystanders. A week later Jekyll has written a will stating Hyde as his sole beneficiary.

When asked by Utterson about the will Jekyll shoes him away. That night Jekyll transforms into Hyde and goes out and attacks random people. As the weeks go on jekyll becomes more and more dependent on the potion, addicted to the thrill of being mr. hyde. Meanwhile, Poole and lily, Jekyll’s servants are instructed to keep up a supply of drugs and salts for jekyll. When Rebecca overhears a conversation between lily and poole, she goes to her father and utterson. That night utterson confronts Mr. Hyde, who threatens him.

Later, Lanyon, a friend of jekyll, is invited to Jekyll’s home. However he’s confronted by Hyde, who transforms into Jekyll, causing Lanyon to have a heart attack. At the funeral Sir Danvers confronts jekyll about his involvement with the death, forcing Rebecca to calm him down. That night while on a walk Sir Danvers bumps into Mr. Hyde who kills sir danvers by beating him to death. Lily, who witnesses the crime tells the police and scotland yard proceeds to put out a search for mr. Hyde.

A week later Dr. Jekyll attempts to forfeit the potion but transforms into Hyde involuntarily. Mr. Hyde now becoming dominant over stalks and attempts to rape Rebecca, before Jekyll manages to take control over himself. And desperately try to cure himself. He fails and is poisoned.

When Utterson finds the remains of Hyde, he discovers Jekyll’s original will giving the money over to Utterson. Rebecca walks in on the scene just as Hyde’s corpse transforms back into jekyll. And Rebecca weeps.
