Downbeat & Rainbows is an adult animated television series which aired on FX on December 13, 2017 at midnight. The show features the voice talents of Aidy Bryant, Cecily Jones, and Michael Che. The show is about a Native American girl who enters the world of youth empowerment, sexual revolution, simple living, recreational drug use, anti-war movement and peace. Many of the primary cast members are better known for their work on the hit NBC comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live. The show is rated TV-MA.


  • Aidy Bryant as Topanga Mariano, a preteen Native American girl. She is quiet, kind, and conscientious. Often puts the needs of others above their own needs. Her parents are unemployed stoners and has a serious marijuana addiction.
  • Cecily Jones as Gwenda Féng, a Chinese American girl. She is calm, affectionate, complimentary, loving, considerate, and altruistic.
  • Michael Che as Joel Higgins, an African American boy. He interested in serving humanity. He has crush on Gwenda, they later dated, but eventually broke up.
