Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The rise of the Cheese touch is a book and the prequel to the original Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It takes place when Greg is in 6th grade and when his best friend was Ben Fielders.

Greg's english class makes everyone in the class write a diary with one entry per day. So Greg starts writing about his everyday happenings and his views and his life and his last year of elementary school.

A mover is walking on the football field and gets a call. He leaves to go to the call and drops the cheese out of his sandwich. He never picks it back up and the cheese goes nasty. Someone touches the cheese and everyone runs away from him. Soon, what Greg refers to as "the war of the cheese touch", had begun. Ben moves away at the end of the book and then Greg meets Rowley and they become best friends.
