DIC Network is an American pay television network owned by the Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution unit of The Walt Disney Company. The channel is aimed at older teens and adults ages 16-45.

History[]

On December 21, 1988, DIC Entertainment announced that they are going to launch a channel that airs most of the programming that is from the company itself. DIC Network was launched as DIC Kids Network, on June 4, 1989, at 2 p.m., with the first program to broadcast being Care Bears, and became one of the most popular former cartoon channels in America.

In the 1990s, DIC Network started to air shows like Super Mario World, Wish Kid, ProStars, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa, All-New Dennis the Menace, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?

After DIC Entertainment merged with Cookie Jar, the channel renames to DIC Network, and the channel began to air reality shows and documentaries, and original programs like Talking Who You Are! and Destruction Back Show. The channel becomes from a children's channel to a male-interest channel to complete with Spike TV.
