Christmas Day is an 2015 romantic-comedy film directed by Garry Marshall.

Plot

On Christmas Day, Vice-President of the Times Square Alliance Katherine Morgan (Jennifer Aniston) is making the final arrangements for the ball drop with the help of her friend Scott (Justin Long). Meanwhile, after being nearly run over by a car and denied a vacation, Ahern Records secretary Laurie Withers (Taylor Swift) quits her job and offers the deliveryman Carter Morris (Bobby Campo) tickets for the Ahern Records Masquerade Ball if Paul helps her complete a series of New Year's resolutions before midnight, which he accepts.

Carter's sister Gina Morris (Jessica Alba) is having trouble with her teenage daughter Candice (Alexa Gerasimovitch) who wants to spend Christmas Day with her friends and her boyfriend Alex Saunders (Corey Fogelmanis) in Times Square. Carter's friend, Scott's brother and Alex's father, accountant Brian (Matthew Broderick), who hates Christmas Day after his girlfriend left him on a date, gets stuck in an elevator with his classmate in college Lauren (Krista Allen) who tells him that she is divorced to a guy (Neil Patrick Harris), Carter's friend Terry (Arlen Escarpeta) tries to call his friend Missy (Selena Gomez) to perform in the show at Times Square. He also prepares to invite his girlfriend, Linda (Sarah Snook)  and her sister Lisa (Ashley Boettcher).

At a nearby hospital, Leonard Morgan (Dustin Hoffman), a man in the final stages of cancer who refuses chemotherapy and who only wishes to see the ball drop one last time, is kept company by Nurse Aimee (Tia Mowry) and Nurse Mindy (Megan Fox) after his doctor (John Travolta) reveals he will not last much longer. In the same hospital, a young couple named Nick (Will Ferrell) and Mandy Byrne (Eva Mendes) are about to have their first child, and they compete with another couple, Mark (Miles Teller) and Jessie Coleman (Ellen Wroe), for a bonus offered to the family of the first child born in the new year. Meanwhile, Scott, a businessman from Ahern Records, hears that Gina ended in a accident and takes care of his daughter Candice.

In the early evening, one of the billboard lights of the Times Square panel malfunctions, jamming the ball and forcing Katherine to call Kominsky (Héctor Elizondo), an electrician who the company had fired a few weeks prior. Kominsky repairs the ball before midnight, and, in gratitude, Katherine leaves him in charge of the operation, and rushes to see the ball drop with her father, Leonard. Meanwhile, Nurse Aimee has a video conference with her husband (Damon Wayans, Jr.), a soldier serving in Afghanistan. Leonard passes away just after the ball drops and a chorus of Auld Lang Syne, with Katherine holding his hand.

Carter helps Laurie complete all the items on her list, and she gives him the tickets. Meanwhile, Brian and Lauren bond, and, as they are about to kiss, the elevator is repaired by the building superintendent (James Belushi) and Laurie rushes to her sister's show. Brian notices she forgot her rubber band and rushes to give it to her. At Times Square, Missy leaves midway during his show to return to the Ahern Ball to apologize to his boyfriend, Matt (Casey Affleck), who accepts her back and leaves with the approval of Scott, who sees his friend holding his daughter, Candice and Scott both see the Auld Lang Syne dropping. With Missy gone, Candice is called to replace her and attracts the attention of the crowd. She then sees her step-sister Lauren kisses Brian, and they start a romantic relationship.

Nick and Mandy have their baby and, although it is born first, they allow Jessie and Mark to have the bonus after discovering they already have two other children to provide for. Meanwhile, after being forbidden from attending the celebration, Candice runs away to Times Square, where she sees Alex being kissed by another girl. Heartbroken, she meets Gina in a wheelchair and is comforted by her parents. Alex finds them and apologizes, claiming the girl stole a kiss from him. Candice forgives and kisses him. She sees her parents kissing and they all hug each other.

In a post-credits scene, Laurie and Eric are dancing.
