Character Story 3 is a 2028 American 3D computer-animated comedy film, and the third film in the Character Story series. It was produced by Dreamworks Pictures. Directed by Richard Rich, the screenplay was written by Michael Arndt, while Rich wrote the story along with John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton, respectively director and co-writer of the first two films. The film was released worldwide from June through October in the Digital 3-D, RealD, and IMAX 3D formats. Character Story 3 was the first film to be released theatrically with Dolby Surround 7.1 sound.

The plot focuses on the animal friends Rabbit, Tigger, and their friends dealing with an uncertain future as their owner, Christopher Robin, prepares to leave for college. Actors Tom Kenny, Jim Cummings, Kath Soucie and Tony Goldwyn, along with few others reprised their voice-over roles from the previous films.

Plot

Christopher Robin, now 17 years old, is about to leave for college, and his animal friends have not been played with for years. He intends to take only Rabbit with him to college, and puts Rabbit, Kanga and the other toys in a bag to be stored in the attic. Christopher Robin's mother mistakenly takes the bag to the curb for garbage pickup. The animal friends escape and, believing Christopher Robin intended to throw them away, decide to climb in a donation box with Jane bound for Sunnyside Daycare. Rabbit follows them and tries to explain the mistake, but they refuse to believe him.

Christopher Robin's animal friends are welcomed by the other animal friends at Sunnyside, and are given a tour of the seemingly perfect play-setting by Shere Khan, Dumbo, and Tarzan, with whom Jane falls in love. All of the animal friends choose to stay, except Rabbit, who attempts to return to Christopher Robin. Rabbit is found by Riley, one of the Sunnyside students. She takes Rabbit home and plays with him along with her other animal friends, which are well-treated. At Sunnyside, a group of toddlers play rough with Kurt's animal friends.

Tigger asks Shere Khan to have them moved to the older children's room, but is captured. Shere Khan, who controls Sunnyside with an iron fist, reveals he sends new toys to distract the toddlers to keep him and his henchmen safe, not caring whether the animal friends get broken in the process. Seeing promise in Tigger, he resets him to his original space tigger ranger persona, wiping out his memory. At the same time, Kessie (who accidentally left one of her other broke wing at Christopher Robin's house) sees Christopher Robin searching for the toys and convinces the toys that Rabbit told the truth. But before they can leave, Christopher Robin's animal friends are imprisoned by Shere Khasn's gang.

At Riley's house, before Rabbit leaves to find Christopher Robin, he learns from a dragon named Mushu that he, Shere Khan and Dumbo once had a beloved owner named Boo. When the animal friends were accidentally left behind by Boo's family during a trip, they made their way back to her house, only to find that Shere Khan had been replaced with an identical friend, causing Shere Khan to become embittered. Rabbit returns to Sunnyside and reconciles with his friends. That night, the animal friends attempt to escape, and accidentally reset Rabbit to Russian mode instead of his original persona. Tigger allies himself with Rabbit and falls in love with Kanga. The animal friends reach a dumpster, but are caught by Shere Khan and his gang. As a garbage truck approaches, Rabbit reveals what he learned about Shere Khan. Shere Khan says that he now believes toys are meant to be thrown away, leading an enraged Dumbo to throw Shere Khan into the dumpster. Shere Khan pulls Rabbit into the dumpster just as the truck collects the trash. Rabbit's friends fall into the back of the truck while trying to rescue him, and a falling television hits Tigger, restoring his memory and normal persona.

The truck deposits the toys at the tri-county landfill, where they find themselves on a conveyor belt leading to an incinerator. Rabbit and Tigger help Shere Khan reach an emergency stop button, only for Shere Khan to abandon them. Believing the end is near, the toys accept their fate, but are rescued by the dinosaur operating an industrial claw. Shere Khan escapes, but a garbage truck driver finds him and straps him to his truck's radiator grill. Woody and his friends board another garbage truck, driven by Harry and Marv, back to Christopher Robin's house.

In Christopher Robin's room, Rabbit climbs into the box with Kurt's college supplies, while the other animal friends ready themselves for the attic. Rabbit leaves a note for Christopher Robin, thinking the note is from his mother, takes them to Riley's house and introduces her to his old animal friends. Riley recognizes Rabbit who, to Christopher Robin's surprise, is at the bottom of the box. Though reluctant, Rabbit passes him on to Riley, and then plays with her before leaving. Rabbit and the other animal friends watch Christopher Robin's departure before beginning their new lives with Riley.

During the credits, Rabbit and the other animal friends learn that Jane, Tarzan and D have improved the lives of the animal friends at Sunnyside.
