Cetofelis is an extinct large mammal carnivore that was related to modern day fossas, civets, hyenas, meerkats, mongooses, genets, and binturongs and was also a direct ancestors of modern dylanuses, but was almost pure carnivorous and it resembled a big cat, but with a long-snouted head and upright-pointed ears, they prefered to feed on tapirs, deer, bison (and other bovines), pronghorns, and rodents, rather than dylanuses as they have a similar smell to the extinct cetofelis. They might have became extinct due to humans, homo sapiens, overhunting them for their fur and claws and because of cetofelises hunting young humans.
