~ Bruce Wayne declaring his identity to Chimera

Bruce Thomas Wayne (born February 19, 1990) is a billionaire industrialist, a founding member of the Justice League, and the CEO of Wayne Enterprises. A brash but brilliant scientist, Wayne is self-described as a genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. With his great wealth and exceptional technical knowledge, Wayne is one of the world's most powerful men and "The Golden Son of Gotham", following his parents' death and seemingly enjoys the playboy lifestyle, however, his own obsession with eradicating the criminal element often undermines any happiness Wayne might find in life. After witnessing the murder of his parents as a child at age six, Wayne resolved to rid his hometown of Gotham City, New Jersey of the criminal element that took their lives, despite possessing a strained relationship with his father. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, in addition to mastering martial arts, detective techniques, and the criminal psychology, traveling the world for 10 years before returning back to Gotham at the age of 25. Deciding to fight crime with the aid of specialized gadgets and vehicles, Wayne operated underneath a secret cave beneath his ancestral home of Wayne Manor, and inspired by the native bat species that resided there, began to operate as the fearsome vigilante, Batman.

Wayne is the titular eponymous main protagonist of The Batman Trilogy, one of the titular protagonists of Justice League, and the overall main protagonist of the entire DC Extended Universe, being considered one of the central figures of the DCEU, with the evolution of his character being considered and described as "the defining arc of the DC Extended Universe".

64px Sometimes I wonder if my father loved me. He was always more patient and kind with his own patients than me ... His own flesh and blood. I used to look on with envy and resentment, wishing I could've been respected the same way.
~ Bruce Wayne wondering whether his father loved him

Early Life

Troubled Childhood

Bruce Wayne was born on February 19, 1990 in Gotham City, New Jersey to Thomas and Martha Wayne. Wayne had become good friends with Alfred Pennyworth, the butler of Wayne's family, who watched over Wayne throughout all of his childhood. Wayne's early life was often dominated by the absence of his own father whom he always questioned whether he loved him. Growing up, Wayne had issues with his father who he claimed would bestow more kindness upon his patients rather than his own biological son, something Wayne resented. Since Wayne was so young, Thomas never was able to tell him his plans for him.

Despite this, Wayne still loved his father, determined to be better than the latter, something Martha approved. Wayne would also be much closer to his own mother than his father, as a result of her spending every free moment in her life with him. The love supplied to Wayne by Martha and Pennyworth, whom he began to consider a father more so than Thomas, combined with his family's fortune, caused Wayne to live an idyllic childhood, despite desiring his father's love and approval. Wayne would also become good friends with his one of his father's employee's and friends at Wayne Enterprises, Lucius Fox and became best friends with Harvey Dent. Growing up, Wayne would sit down on the floor of Wayne Manor's entrance room, and his father would explain despite the manor itself being built upon railways, real estate, and oil, the first generation of Wayne's made their fortune as hunters, trading pelts, and skins with the French and would tell of the Wayne family history, to inspire Wayne to do great things in life, which not only highly annoyed him, but caused Wayne to doubt himself, as he wondered how he could ever measure up to his ancestors.

At an early age, Wayne quickly stole the spotlight with his brilliant and unique mind. When he was four years old, he made his first circuit board, and later at age five, built a V8 motorbike engine, with some minor help from his father. During this time, Wayne also became a fan of the hero, Zorro, and aspired to be just like him one day: A guy dressed in a costume and fighting crime. Wayne was also somewhat "nosy", and would break into Pennyworth's room in order to view his trophies, much to the latter's amusement and charagin.

Assassination of Thomas and Martha Wayne

Bruce Wayne is very determined and dedicated to his work of crime-fighting vigilantism (due to having been forced as a young child to watch his parents get murdered by Matches Malone), sometimes employing illegal and morally dubious tactics (such as torture, much to the charagin of Superman, causing him to initially view him as a brutal and unforgiving criminal) while fighting crime as Batman, but ultimately for the good of Gotham City. Being skilled in the art of deception, Wayne is able to often hide his true dark personality by maintaining a façade in public, and while often serious and intelligent, he purposefully comes off as a somewhat arrogant womanizing playboy, so as to avoid anyone from suspecting that he could possibly be the fearsome Batman. Wayne's deception also extends itself to his alter-ego, since as Batman, he strives to fool the criminal underworld of Gotham City into thinking he is an inhuman and supernatural being. Hence, Hal Jordan was surprised that Wayne possessed no powers, and Victor Stone initially even doubted his existence. Alfred Pennyworth, however, notes that Wayne has never been skilled at deceiving him, as he has known Wayne since the latter was a child.

Although possessing great disgust and anger towards criminals and super-villains, Wayne, like the other Justice Leaguers, has proven himself to be a very caring and selfless person, in addition to being brave, constantly putting his life on the line to save innocent lives and bringing the most dangerous criminals to justice for society's protection.

Wayne, as a tremendously skilled and well-rounded vigilante and polymath genius (in tactics, strategies, deception, detective, criminology, science, mechanical engineering, computer, hacking, martial arts, exploitative networking, business, piloting, and linguistics, as well as both inductive and deductive analysis), has bettered himself both mentally and physically to his peak, without any superhuman assistance, thereby making him capable of pulling off terrific feats without actually being superhuman. Hence, Wayne epitomizes many of the humanist beliefs of Lex Luthor, who somewhat admires him as Batman, despite being feared and/or doubted by most of the world. With his exceptional intellect and extensive experience, Wayne is among the most rational and wiser members of the Justice League.

As a result of his playboy persona, many people in the media believe that Wayne is only an egocentric playboy, albeit one that has Gotham City's best intentions at heart. Wayne is also seen as slightly vain, as he once notably condescendingly called the younger Clark Kent "son", upon meeting the latter.

Wayne's strongest characteristic has always been his strong moral code to never kill, although throughout his years of fighting crime, he has become more hardcore in his approach to fighting crime in Gotham City, due to the combination of emotional and physical pain, loss, exhaustion, and potential disillusionment he's experienced during his time protecting the streets of Gotham, as well as his growing cynical, pessimistic, and world-weary personality.

Wayne, while usually very serious, prim, and even somewhat gloomy, is a charismatic mentor and leader, having led his various protégé's, Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, and Jason Todd in numerous vigilante escapade's and missions. When Barry Allen made a remark on his inexperience, many fears, and questions his value to the Justice League, Wayne helped him gain confidence with some simple advice, deducing the young speedster's potentially good judgment in their battle. Wayne even gains the respect and friendship of the usually gruff lone superhero, Arthur Curry. Wayne's serious nature also leads to him initially getting annoyed by Allen and Curry, due to the former's quick-witted humor, and the latter's dry remarks about his Batsuit.

Contrary to his appearance and reputation as Batman, the fearsome Wayne possesses a dry, dark, and sarcastic sense of humor, notably when alone with Pennyworth, when he claims to Allen that being rich is his superpower, and when remarking to Victor Stone (who initially doubted his existence) that "he's real when it's useful."

64px Yeah. Big man in a scary batsuit. Take that off and what are you?"
"Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist."
~ Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne

While he is not the only superhero without any innate superpowers, Bruce Wayne stands out the most, due to him relying only on "his own scientific knowledge, detective skills, and athletic prowess." He is regarded as one of the world's greatest detectives. Wayne is seen as the Justice League's most dangerous member. He is also a maser of disguise, often gathering information under the name of Matches Malone, the man who killed his parents, and a notorious gangster. In addition, Wayne's various Batsuit's enhance his strength, durability, speed, and reflexes in a various amount of ways and provide him with a variety of weapons. His possession of original advanced technology combined with his extraordinary intelligence and nigh-unrivaled combat skills make Wayne one of the most formidable superheroes and a force to be reckoned with. Through intense training, a specialized diet, and biofeedback treatments, Wayne represents the pinnacle of human physical prowess. His physical attributes exceed that of most Olympic level athletes that have ever competed. His strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, and coordination are at peak human perfection.

  • Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant/Master Martial Artist: Wayne is an extraordinary and tremendously skilled hand-to-hand combatant, and an infamously formidable master of a vast array of martial arts, having mastered and/or perfected every single form of hand-to-hand combat known to man, and is one of the finest human combatants Earth has known, being rigorously trained in martial arts since childhood and in his young adulthood and went on a journey for many years to many place's including China to learn and intensively train in many highly refined forms of martial arts, becoming an extremely skilled and proficient master combatant. Having traveled around the world to train for many years to master martial arts, the formidable Master Kirigi has stated Wayne is a natural prodigy in martial arts due to his "great violent nature inside of him." Able to perform sufficient punches, kicks to blocking moves, counters, and throws, Wayne's immense martial arts abilities has allowed him to survive even the most dangerous battles. He is very flexible and precise in his maneuvers, able to change his battle tactics and attack patterns to suit the situation at a fast rate, allowing him to take on and defeat multiple fighters of advanced fighting prowess. His fighting style also incorporates and takes full advantage of his proper use of physical forces, momentum, and leverage, as well as his knowledge of anatomical weaknesses and pressure-points strikes, combined with his nigh-superhuman strength, executing it all at very high speeds to systematically take down his foes. Wayne has proven he can easily defeat multiple groups of armed opponents, and defeat enemies that are physically superior to him through the use of sheer skill, becoming known as a practical one-man army in his years as a crime-fighter. Under Wayne's tutelage, his protégé vigilante's, Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, and Jason Todd would become extremely skilled combatants in their own right. Wayne has fully mastered dozens of disciplines and tactics, and has displayed highly advanced skill and knowledge in these fighting style's, and his main combat style has proven to be highly unpredictable, and is a uniquely fused brand of martial arts that incorporates Aikido, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Capoeira, Escrima, Hapkido, Judo, Jujutsu, Karate, Keysi Fighting Method, Kung Fu, Krav Maga, Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Ninjitsu, Pencak Silat, Sambo, Savate, Sumo, Taekwondo, Wing Chun, and Wrestling.
    • Master Marksman: Wayne is a highly skilled expert marksman due in part to his training in Ninjitsu, utilizing his batarangs, and grapple gun with a high degree of accuracy and precision, solely relying on his naked eye, with his Wayne Enterprises technology often enhancing this ability in combat and almost never misses. He is a champion at using and throwing projectile weapons, archery, and firearms, when it comes to small, distant, moving, and even invisible targets.
  • Maximum Human Conditioning: Wayne, as a tremendously skilled and experienced vigilante, is in peak and an exceptional physical condition from frequent intense workouts in the Batcave, numerous vigilante escapades in the city, and all the physical training he did prior to becoming Batman, all of which have heightened his abilities to the highest levels of peak human potential and conditioning. Through intense training, a specialized diet, and biofeedback treatment, Wayne's bodily functions are enhanced to and represent the absolute pinnacle and perfection of human physical prowess through a lifetime of extremely intense training regimen and a strict-nutritional diet, and his physical attributes are at the natural limit far above that of any Olympic-level athlete that has ever competed, with his strength, speed, stamina, agility, longevity, reflexes, senses, metabolism, and durability being greatly heightened as much as possible for a normal human being and is at the brink of reaching superhuman physical and mental capabilities as well as the limits of a super-soldier's inhuman capabilities, and is at the peak of human potential and perfection, having begun intense physical training and weight-lifting when he was 10, resulting in a mastery of full body control when he was 16. Wayne, since the age of 13, has created a strict diet to enable his body to develop and operate at its most proficient ability, along with biofeedback treatments (using portable/non-portable machines to stimulate muscles to contraction), allowing him to perform amazing physical feats due to his superior physique. He engages in an intensive regular regimen of rigorous exercise (including aerobics, weight-lifting, gymnastics, and simulated combat) to keep himself in peak condition, and has often defeated opponents whose size, strength, or other powers greatly exceeded his own. He has spent his entire life in pursuit of physical perfection and has attained it through constant intensive training, and determination. Hence, while not technically superhuman (which makes him the physically weakest member of the original Justice League), Wayne's extremely muscular and athletic physique (and resulting nigh-superhuman physical prowess) makes him immensely powerful by normal human standards, with his physical capabilities far surpassing even those of others far exceptionally fit humans. Indeed, by bettering himself to his physical peak, Wayne as Batman epitomizes many of the humanist beliefs of Lex Luthor, who somewhat admires the former, despite being feared and/or doubted by most of the world.
    • Nigh-Superhuman Speed:
    • Nigh-Superhuman Stamina: Wayne has adopted the Uberman sleep schedule and mastered the art of power-naps, which have evolved into "Micro-Sleep", taking six 15 minute naps every three hours and forty-five minutes, allowing him to operate at peak capacity with less sleep. This has essentially allowed Wayne to exert his stamina to levels no human has ever been capable of operating. As a result, Wayne's highly trained and developed body generates considerably less toxins and is more resistant to fatigue toxins than normal humans, granting him exceptional endurance and lung capacity, allowing his body to eliminate the excessive build-up of fatigue-producing chemicals in his muscles, granting him near-superhuman levels of stamina and lung capacity. Hence, he is immensely endurant, superior in that regard to the finest Olympian athlete, able to exert himself at his peak capacity for several hours without tiring or slowing down. In addition, Wayne can also recover extremely fast from injuries and fatigue due to his training and indomitable will. His lung capacity is so great that he can hold his breath underwater for more than seven minutes with little to no strain and will not lose his breath or get exhausted, and can survive in space for up to one and a half minute. Wayne is also capable of running for dozens of miles and fighting for extremely long periods of time, and while training across the world, has demonstrated the ability to fight in a death gauntlet for 28 hours straight without tiring or killing anyone. Wayne has demonstrated exercising extensively with a rigorous training regimen that lasted one hour, yet wasn't nearly satisfied.
    • Nigh-Superhuman Strength: Wayne has, and can, by properly utilizing physical forces, momentum, and leverage (as well as his knowledge of anatomical weaknesses and undergoing frequent extremely intense strength and endurance based exercises), easily generate low-level superhuman strength, with the strength he possesses being at the very highest peak of human potential. In terms of brute strength, he is one of the strongest non-Meta-Human's alive, being able to effortlessly break steel chains and cuffs with ease, smash stone barehanded, slam through walls, punch down 3-inch chromium steel doors, and rip metal prison bars with his bare hands. Wayne has also demonstrated enough strength to instantly tear nailed fastened metal bars/structures and dismantled machines bare-handed. Having intensely and regularly trained his body to its utmost limit, he is said to possess the strength of ten men. Wayne undergoes extremely intense exercises to strengthen the maximum number of muscles beyond the limits of human potential and vastly increase his endurance and has demonstrated the ability to overpower dozens of men at once. Some of his regular workout feats are bench-pressing, squatting, performing weighted pull-up's, as well as pulling and dragging heavy plates of an excess of a couple thousand pounds, to name a few. His workouts and dietary plans, combined with his vigilante escapades, have granted him his peak human conditioning (and also allowed him to maintain this). Hence, Wayne is capable of effortlessly lifting and hurling humans like ragdoll's over his head for more than 25 feet, the strength of which is capable of destroying tables, knocking them out with a single blow, sending a thug flying several meters with a single kick, throwing people into walls hard enough to break through them, and effortlessly dislocating limbs with a single twist as well as effortlessly lifting grown men in the air with one arm and has punched a thug through a brick wall with no strain, giving the latter internal injuries. He's been shown capable of punching people hard enough to send them headfirst into the floorboards and even smashing through plastered wood and brick walls and floors. His strength also extends to his legs, easily allowing him to jump several meters into the air. Wayne is also more than strong enough to pull 5 men over in a tug-of-war contest with one arm, lift an entire bench-press bar with one arm and throw it like a bowling ball, kick a thick tree in half, and break or bend guns with his mere grip on many occasions, all performed with casual ease. The lead brass knuckles on Wayne's gauntlets allow him to hit even harder, inflicting more damage with his strikes. During his exercise reigmes, Wayne could bench-press up to 1000 pounds, dumbbell curl tens of hundreds of pounds without flinching, do over 300 pounds of tricep extensions without actually trying, and bench-press up to 2500 pounds. The physically superior group of Appellaxian's have stated that Wayne "hits harder than the other heroes." While biologically human, Wayne can practically apply superhuman force in his attacks by using highly effective strength and muscle control.
  • Superhuman Genius-Level Intellect: Wayne is an extremely intelligent and eclectic polymath genius and is one of the smartest humans in the world, surpassing the exceptionally intelligent Clark Kent, Barry Allen, and Victor Stone while rivaled only by fellow super-genius, Lex Luthor. As a result, by the age of 25, Wayne was known by the nickname, "The DaVinci Of Our Time." His IQ is well over 200, and is a brilliant, virtually peerless detective, strategist, scientist, tactician, and commander, widely regarded as one of the keenest analytical minds on Earth. Due to his mental training prior to becoming Batman and being naturally gifted, Wayne has acquired an instant learning aptitude, perfect memory recall, parallel multi-tasking, eidetic/photographic memory, accelerated reading, and a more powerful memory. His mental performance is at the peak of human potential, and his level of intelligence is superior to normal humans, being able to use his brain more efficiently, able to use needed shortcuts when it comes to retaining information. Becoming one of the most brilliant geniuses humanity has ever known, Wayne could perform feats of mind comparable to computers: storing limitless amounts of information flawlessly, performing complex calculation, and other similar tasks. He can master a variety of knowledge and combat skills in a few weeks, which would take a normal person many years to achieve mastery over. Wayne was also able to use 100% of his concentration capacity, allowing him to push his physical and mental capabilities to their maximum potential, with obstacles becoming minor problems while objectives grew significantly easier to accomplish. Given his lack of superpowers, Wayne often uses cunning and planning to outwit his foes, rather than simply "out-fighting" them. Hence, Wayne's brilliant intellect is arguably his greatest and most formidable trait of all, and his genius extends itself to his nearly unparalleled and prolific tactical, strategic, deceptive, detective, criminology, scientific, mechanical engineering, computer, hacking, combat, exploitative networking, business, piloting, and linguistic skills (which coupled with his supreme and extensive experience in utilizing them all) therefore makes Wayne the most eclectically intelligent member of the Justice League to the point where he was seen as the most dangerous member, even when compared to Superman. Throughout his life, Wayne accomplished numerous intellectual feats.
    • Eidetic Memory: Wayne as a super-genius, has a photographic memory and perfect recall, which greatly aids him in mastering a vast array of eclectic fields to the highest level as a polymath, while also allowing him to make numerous layered references (from pop-culture and famous books to biblical and pagan theology, to mathematics and computer science, much like fellow super-genius, Lex Luthor) and to know seemingly random facts such as the scores of various sports games from the past two years, with his mind working in the same way as a computer with unlimited storage capacity, only much faster, able to perform several mental functions as once without losing focus on any of them. He can instantly recall specific information with incredible speed and accuracy, storing everything in a photographic memory and retrieve it immediately without the typical human pause for thought.
      • Expert Detective: Wayne is an immensely formidable detective genius, capable of observation, forensic investigation, and psychological assessments, as well as both inductive and deductive reasoning of the highest caliber and has been claimed by many to be, as well as hailed as the "World's Greatest Detective", and an investigator without peer. Wayne has no equal when it comes to forensic investigations and solving crime mysteries, able to use even the smallest clues and slightest details to solve extremely difficult cases and accurately deduce the identity of unknown criminal mastermind's. Human intuition is an unlearnable trait and one of Wayne's most effective tools, and has aided the GCPD in solving hundreds of unsolved crimes and cold case's. Wayne regularly outsmarts highly intelligent criminals, and commonly uses his detective skills and intuition to match highly unpredictable lunatics. Wayne can also figure out what his enemies will do, based on their habits and past actions, often getting the jump on them. Given any mystery, he can arrive at a conclusion with a fraction of the data. Hence, Wayne was able to deduce each member of the Justice League's identity after investigating them for a short period of time, and able to document their strength's, weaknesses, and psychological profile's, visibly impressing Diana Prince, shocking Clark Kent, Arthur Curry, and Hal Jordan, and amazing Barry Allen, and Victor Stone, each of whom are impressive in their own right.
      • Expert Networker: Wayne, as an influential businessman, one of the world's most powerful men, experienced vigilante, veteran superhero, and interrogator, superbly uses a dense network of both professional and social contacts to further both his business and superhero ambitions. This is notable through his influence of police (like the GCPD, through James Gordon and the Batcomputer), other companies (like LuthorCorp, through Wayne Enterprises), powerful intelligence agencies (like the FBI), and certain prison's (like Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Penitentiary, through his "friends" there). Hence, Wayne is able to discreetly keep tabs on numerous people and things that interest him, was able to gain the clean cops of the GCPD's trust, and grant Barry Allen a forensics scientist job promotion in Central City.
      • Master Businessman: Wayne is a genius businessman, (on par with Lex Luthor), taking over his father's company, Wayne Enterprises, at age 20 (thereby becoming the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company in history) and helping it grow and gain more business partners, as the CEO. As a result, Wayne, despite being noted for his (apparent) arrogance, is extremely well-respected in the business world, able to command people's attention when he spoke up on economic matters by virtue of the fact that he was savvy enough to have, over the years, built up Wayne Enterprises into the premiere technology supplier to the world's next generation of innovations, with Wayne Enterprises becoming the world's leading company (alongside LuthorCorp) in the field of both high-technology innovation and the largest tech conglomerate under his leadership. He is known for having his employees' loyalty, as well as his impeccable business ethics. However, upon returning to Gotham City at age 25, has strived to be more environmentally responsible in his businesses such as turning away from making weapons.
      • Master Scientist: An exceptional scientific prodigy and phenomenally skilled super-genius scientist, Wayne was ingeniously resourceful, knowledgeable, and brilliant in a vast array of scientific fields, particularly applied science and physics, but also biology, chemistry, computer science, genetics, mathematics, mechanics, neuroscience, and psychology, having graduated summa cum laude from various prodigious college's around the world from age's 12 to 20. Hence, Wayne was able to understand Lex Luthor's thermonuclear astrophysics notes overnight, impressing the latter, postulate the "Meta-Human Thesis" alongside Luthor, discover and re-purpose Kryptonite (coining the scientific term as well), and understand the extremely powerful and futuristic Mother Boxes' function prior to actually observing them (subsequently making many detailed coded notes about them, which even Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, and Victor Stone had trouble deciphering).
        • Expert Computer Scientist/Expert Computer Specialist/Master Computer Hacker: Wayne is an extremely skilled and formidable genius hacker, notable for his exceptional skills of intelligence gathering and data interpretation, as well as his superb pattern recognition and analysis skills, with only super-genius, Lex Luthor rivaling him. Hence, Wayne had notably managed to crack the Pentagon's firewall on a dare, while still in high school, utilize his sophisticated Batcomputer to hack into both GCPD police radio's and Gotham City news stations (being constantly hooked up to both, so as to be up to date with all the goings on in his city), and into Lex Luthor's military-grade encrypted data on a Kryptonian spaceship.
        • Master Engineer: Wayne is an extremely talented and prolific engineer and robotics technician, especially in vehicles operations and general engineering, having been able to make many complicated inventions at a young age, building his first circuits board at age four and his first engine at age five, albeit with minor help from his father before going on to construct numerous innovative Wayne Enterprises technology for the world as an adult, leading Wayne Enterprises to become the largest tech conglomerate in high-tech innovation in the world alongside LuthorCorp with Wayne alongside Alfred Pennyworth having personally built and over time improved upon his various sophisticated gadgets, most notably, the various Batsuit's, the Batmobile, and Batcomputer. When meeting with Barry Allen, he successfully identified the composition of The Flash suit and knew it was material used on NASA as well as Wayne Aerospace's space shuttle's to prevent them from burning up on re-entry. After establishing the Justice League, Wayne is able to construct the highly sophisticated Knightcrawler and Flying Fox, as well as updating Allen's Flash suit, and deducing what the Appellaxian's would be using with the Mother Box technology.
      • Master Tactician: Wayne, as a clever and insightful man and given his lack of superpowers, is an immensely formidable tactical and strategic genius mastermind, often using cunning, supreme tactics, strategies, protocols, and planning to effectively assess combat situations and come up with effective strategies, and successfully outwit stronger and more powerful foes, rather than simply out-fighting them, using any of their exploitable weaknesses to his advantage. He skillfully employs deception and tactics to defeat his enemies in the most effective ways possible. Hence, Wayne is by far the best tactician and leader among the Justice Leaguers (although he usually delegates the latter option to Superman due to him being a beacon of hope) and often commands the missions for both The Bat Family and the Justice League. He has been referred by Victor Stone as "The Greatest Tactician on the Planet", and is one of the greatest strategists and tacticians in the entire universe. Wayne can work out strategies that would work a situation in his favor, in conjunction with his Batsuit's Detective Mode, allowing him to knock out enemies before even having to use hand-to-hand combat, by simply taking advantage of the objects in the room. Hence, while somewhat brash in his early days, Wayne was still capable of making many split-second tactical decisions that either saved people's lives or overpowered his adversaries, with minimal help from Alfred Pennyworth. Wayne also used his mechanical ingenuity to rectify mistakes of the past to prepare for the future by upgrading his Batsuit's. For these reasons, he is listed as one of the greatest living strategist's and tactician's and recognized as both the Justice League's leader and tactical commander.
      • Multilingualism: Wayne is capable of fluently speaking not only his native English, but also French, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Dari, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Russian, Tibetian, and Arabic due to his travels all around the world.

  • According to director, producer, and screenplay writer Christopher Nolan, Bruce Wayne in his Batman guise is an extremely rough, physical person with actor Ben Affleck adding in that he identified with the character as they are both extremely angry people.
  • Michael Wilkinson, the costume designer of The Batman, The Early Crusades of Batman, The Caped Crusader, and Justice League stated that Wayne learned Asian martial arts in North Korea, South Korea, China, Japan, and Thailand.
  • According to Richard Cetrone (Ben Affleck's stunt double in The Batman), Bruce was already skilled in martial arts when his parents were murdered, having mastered Boxing, Escrima, Judo, Jujutsu, and Krav Maga.
  • This version of Batman's birthday is on February 19, which is a reference towards the comic version of Batman's birthday being on February 19. However their birth years are different.
  • Bruce is usually eight years old when he witnesses his parents die. However, this version is six years old, and was celebrating his birthday when he saw his parents die.
  • Bruce's official net-worth stands at $20.6 billion.
  • Bruce is ambidexterous, although he was originally left-handed.
  • Much like other versions of Batman, Bruce despises guns, considering them the weaponry of the "superstitious and cowardly", and does not drink alcohol due to his dislike of drinking and to keep himself at his peak physical state. However, he does trick others by consuming ginger ale and pretending its alcohol.
  • Bruce's Batsuit is based on the Nolanverse incarnation, being more armored than the mainstream Batsuit. There are also some elements from the Golden Age, Arkhamverse, and mainstream versions in the Batman of this continuity.
    • According to Nolan, the first Batsuit is left intenionally armored as opposed to the traditional lightweight suit to demonstrate Bruce's youth and inexperience. The Batsuit possesses heavier armor and appears to be assembled and combined rather than outright manufactured, as Bruce was just beginning his campaign.
  • Batman's voice is digitally altered by a vocoder in his cowl.
  • In certain scenes, especially action sequences, Batman's cape is rendered using CGI.
  • This version of Batman is the first and only live-action incarnation to ever show Bruce to be near his comics' counterpart in terms of physical prowess (despite Michael Keaton's Batman demonstrating nigh-superhuman strength at some points), while accurately portraying him in terms of personality.
  • According to Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce suffers from PTSD. This is reinforced by how he has recurring nightmares of his parents' deaths, and fuels his campaign against crime.
  • In The Batman, the GCPD possesses very little knowledge of Batman, despite wanting him for questioning, due to his crusade against corruption and the current state of the corrupted police department. The criminal elements of Gotham realized instantly he was a threat to them, while the GCPD were unsure whether to believe the woreds of criminals. There was still widespread sceptism that regarded his existence, as a small number of criminals believed Batman was a myth created by the GCPD to scare them, while the GCPD in contrast believed Batman to be a scary legend invented by criminals to throw the police off their scent of their criminal operations. As seen by police reports Bruce hacked into, the GCPD possessed conflicting reports that suggested Batman was either one man, an army, or a supernatural creature. Limited forensics, photos, and video's led many police officer's to believe Batman was not real, just a figment of imagination from frightened eye-witnesses.
  • While Bruce stands official at 6'4, as Batman, he appears to be even taller, standing at 6'7 and weighs 220 pounds.
  • While the casting of Ben Affleck initially caused a controversy including the filing of an online petition, his performance was ultimately met with an extremely positive reception with most fans adoringly calling him "the best Batman ever", and other fans adoringly dubbing him "Batfleck".
  • Batman and Superman both have mother's named Martha.
  • A reference to Batman was shown during the final battle between Superman and Ultra-Humanite. A poster can be seen that says, "Keep Calm and Call Batman" in the central train station in Metropolis' CBD. A Wayne Enterprises building also appears during Superman and Ultra-Humanite's fight.
  • Batman and Aquaman both have father's named Thomas.
  • The only people who know Bruce Wayne is Batman are the Justice League, Alfred Pennyworth, Lucius Fox, Patrick Malone, and Julie Madison.
  • Bruce is the second oldest member of the original incarnation of the Justice League, being 4, 969 years younger than Diana Prince, and is two years older than Arthur Curry.
    • In addition, out of all seven founders, Batman had the most experience in fighting crime and being a superhero, as he had already been established for five years when Superman debuted, and possessed a decade's worth of experience by the time the Justice League formed.
  • Bruce's reputation as Batman has grown as the DC Extended Universe expanded. In The Batman, he was regarded as a myth, with both criminals and police officer's believing him to be a tall-tale.

Behind the Scenes

  • On September 27, 2013, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Ben Affleck had been cast as Batman. Beforehand, numerous actors such as Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles, Josh Brolin, Joe Manganiello, Tyler Hoechlin, Richard Armitage, Wes Bentley, Jake Gyllenhaal, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Jon Hamm, and Gerard Butler were considered for the part.
    • Jensen Ackles would go on to play Hal Jordan.
    • Initially, Christopher Nolan planned to cast a newcomer in the role of Bruce Wayne but ultimately chose Affleck (a fan of the comic) because he felt the actor's past and personality made him an appropriate choice for the part.
      • "The best and worst moments of Ben's life have been in the public eye", the director explained. "He had to find an inner balance to overcome obstacles that went far beyond his career. He's delt with his own demon's on his own and manage to create his life for his own. That's the essential spirit of Bruce Wayne. Ben brings a depth to the character that goes beyond a comic book character having trouble in high school, or can't get the girl, or can't accept his other side." Nolan also felt Affleck could not only make Wayne a "likeable asshole and jerk", but also depict an authentic emotional journey once he won over the audience. Affleck had an office next to Nolan's during pre-production, which allowed him greater involvement in the screenwriting process. He brought a deeper sense of humor to the film not present in previous drafts of the script, which were more accurate to the Batman character, being more dry, dark, and sarcastic.

He also joked that Bale's advice was to get the costume makers to put a zipper on it to make going into the bathroom easier.
  • Batman in the DC Extended Universe is the sixth live-action incarnation of the character, following incarnations portrayed by Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale.
  • Ben Affleck's casting initially caused somewhat of a controversy and intense fan backlash including the filing of an online petition to remove him. However, after the release of The Batman, his performance was met with an extremely positive reception with many fans calling Affleck the best Batman of all time.
  • Affleck said that Snyder and DC pushed Anthony and Joe Russo to make Wayne the leading in Justice League , "Well, Zack said, "Batman has to be in the opening opening sequence. I don't know what you guys are thinking, but Bruce needs to drive this thing." He was like, "OK, let's try that." We tried it, and it didn't work, because this is a different sort of thing, the story, and the idea, and the theme are the theme, and everybody is just an arm of the octopus."
