Born Naked (stylised as Born Naked: The RuPaul Story in some territories) is an American comedy-drama television series based on the life of actor and drag queen RuPaul. It premiered on TruTV on September 10th 2017. The first season ran for 10 episodes. RuPaul himself and famed filmmaker JJ Abrams produce the series.


The series follows RuPaul at three stages in his life, his teenage years (Marcus Schribner), his early days in Atlanta and New York City (Jacob Artist) and him reflecting on his past in the modern day (Himself). His struggling relationship with his dad (Don Cheadle) and his mom (Angela Bassett) is the focus of his teenage years in Atlanta, as well as his expression of sexuality. In Atlanta and New York, he begins to explore drag and begins the steps to the career that'll make him famous, including his first encounter with Michelle Visage (Isabelle Fuhrman). Michelle also appears in the present day (Herself) as RuPaul's best friend and confidant.

RuPaul Andre Charles (born November 17, 1960), known professionally by the mononym RuPaul, is an American actor, drag queen, television personality, and singer/songwriter. He is also the leading judge and co-creator of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Michelle Lynn Shupack (born September 20, 1968), professionally known by her stage name Michelle Visage, is an American singer, television host, radio DJ, author, and television personality. She began her career as a member of the female vocal trio Seduction. After the band's separation, Visage became the lead singer for The S.O.U.L. S.Y.S.T.E.M. in 1992. She also featured as a guest vocalist on the single "Crash" for TKA. She currently serves as a regular judge on the VH1/Logo reality series RuPaul's Drag Race.

Season 1

Season 1 of Born Naked focuses mainly on RuPaul's teenage years with flash-forwards to the Atlanta drag scene and some of New York towards the conclusion of the first season.
