The blindbat (Rhinotites spelaea), also known as the blind bat, the blind cave bat, and the cave bat, is a species of cave-dwelling bat that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the caverns across Eurasia to help boost biodiversity. The closest living relatives of the blindbat are horseshoe bats of the genus Rhinolophus. Compared to other microbats, the blindbat is relatively large, weighing 15–26 grams (0.53–0.92 oz) and possessing a wingspan of 32.5–35 centimeters (12.8–13.8 inches). Its eyes are completely non-functional and are covered by a layer of skin and fur, hence its name, but it relies solely on ecolocation to hunt and fly around, so it isn't actually blind despite its name. Like other bats, the blindbat is a social animal that lives in large flocks of up to around 500 at a time. The conservation status of the blindbat is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts and the blindbat's wide range.
