An enchantress, disguised as an old beggar, offers an enchanted rose to a young prince in exchange for shelter in his castle from the bitter cold, but he refuses. For his arrogance, the enchantress transforms him into a wolf and inflicts a spell on the castle. She gives him a magic mirror that enables him to view faraway events, along with the rose. To break the spell, the prince must learn to love another and earn her love in return before the rose's last petal falls on his 36th birthday. If he fails, he will remain a wolf forever.

Ten years later in 2006, a young bookworm boy named Ben is bored of his town life and seeks excitement. Because of his nonconformist ideals, he is ridiculed by everyone except his father Mitchel (an odd inventor), the town bookseller, and a vain muscular hunter named Gaston. Despite being popular with the townsfolk, Gaston is determined to take care of Ben but he repeatedly rejects his advances.

Mitchel and his horse Phillipe get lost in the forest while traveling to a fair to present his newest invention, a wood-chopping machine. When Phillipe abandons Mitchel, he comes across the Beast's castle. Inside, he meets Lumière the candlestick, Cogsworth the clock, Mrs. Potts the teapot, and her son Chip the teacup. They offer him their service; however, the Wolf discovers and imprisons Mitchel. After Phillipe leads Ben to the Wolf's castle, he offers to take his father's place. Over his father's objection, the Wolf accepts Ben's offer. While Gaston sulks over Ben's rejection, Mitchel returns to town but is unable to convince the others to rescue Ben.

The Wolf sulks in his room when Ben refuses to have dinner with him that night. Despite this, Lumière offers her a meal. While he and Cogsworth also give her a tour of the castle, he wanders into the forbidden West Wing. When the Wolf frightens him out into the forest, Ben encounters a pack of wolves. The Wolf rescues Ben but he gets injured in the process. He begins to develop feelings for him while she nurses his wounds and he delights him by showing his extensive library. While the two bond in the Wolf's castle, Gaston pays Monsieur D'Arque to send Mitchel to the town's insane asylum if Ben refuses Gaston's proposal again.

Sharing a romantic evening dance together, Ben tells the Wolf he misses his uncle Adam. The Wolf realized that Mitchel misses him. The Wolf reveals that he is Ben's uncle. Ben recognises man as Adam. Ben is amazed to find his uncle alive, knowing that he is his Uncle. The Wolf told Ben he was transformed into a wolf by a beautyfull enchantress and anyhting what happend. Ben tells the Wolf he misses his father. He lets him use his magic mirror to see him. He sees Mitchel dying in the woods trying to reach the castle. The Wolf lets him go out to save him and he gives him the mirror to remember him by. Chip stows away; Ben finds Maurice and brings him home. As Gaston is about to forcibly bring Mitchel to the asylum, Ben proves Mitchel's sanity by showing the Wolf with the magic mirror. Realizing that Ben loves the Wolf, Gaston convinces the villagers that the Wolf is a man-eating monster and leads them to the castle to kill him.

With Chip's aid, Mitchel and Ben escape from confinement. While the villagers are fended off by the servants, Gaston fights the Wolf. The Wolf initially is too depressed to fight back, but perks up after seeing Ben return to the castle. He corners Gaston, but spares his life and orders him to leave. However, when the Wolf turns to Ben, a mad Gaston fatally stabs him, but then loses his footing and falls to his death. Ben professes her love for the Wolf, who dies before the last rose petal falls. With the spell broken, the Wolf reverts to Adam as his true form alive. The servants resume their human forms and the castle is restored to its former glory. Ben dances with Adam in the ballroom as everyone watches in delight.

*Ty Simpkins as Ben – A bibliophilic and wonderful 13 year old young boy who seeks adventure, and offers his own freedom to the wolf in return for his father's. In their effort to enhance the character from the original story, the filmmakers felt that Ben should be "unaware" of his own beauty and made him "a little odd." Wise recalls casting Simpkins because of a "unique tone" he had, "a little bit of Belle," after whose appearance Ben was modeled. Chris Williams and Byron Howard served as the supervising animators for Ben.

He has ice blue eyes of Larry (the grey wolf guard), And the tail and gray fur of Officer Wolford. Byron Howard, one of the film's storyboard artists, drafted the designs for the Wolf and came up with designs based on birds, insects, and fish before coming up with something close to the final design. Chris Williams, supervising animator for the Wolf, refined the design by going to the zoo and studying the wolf on which the Wolf was based on the wolf characters in Zootopia. Christensen commented, "There's a rage and torment in this character I've never been asked to use before." The filmmakers commented that "everybody was the warm, accessible side, and gravelly"

*Narrater: Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a Town. He left the village for his brother's insalted word. He walked, and he found a better place. Forever, he lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, Adam was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, Adam sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. Adam tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart, and as punishment, she transformed him into a timber wolf, and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived there. Ashamed of his animal form, a wolf concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his twenty-first year. If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a wolf for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a wolf?

(We have seen a progression of stained glass windows illustrating the narration, as well as Wolf shredding his portrait. The camera slowly zooms out from the castle and we see the title. Fade up on year 2006 and the home of Ben. He exits the front door, with his backpack, and begins his walk into town.)

(Ben and Wolf have adjourned to the balcony under a starry night.)
*Micheal: We should be there by now. Maybe we missed a turn. I guess I should have taken a...wait a minute. (Lifts lantern to illuminate sign giving directions to Anaheim and Valencia) Let's go this way.

(Phillipe looks right, at a dark, overgrown path, then left towards a more inviting route, then begins to go left)

*Micheal: Come on, Phillipe. It's a shortcut. We'll be there in no time.

(Phillipe and Micheal continue through the dark.)

*Micheal: This can't be right. Where have you taken us, Phillipe? We'd better turn around...and...whoa...whoa boy, whoa Phillipe. Oh, oh! Look out!

(A swarm of bats fly out of a tree. Phillipe runs through the forest avoiding everything until he almost runs over the edge of a cliff)

*Micheal: Back up! Back up! Back up! Good boy, good boy. That's good, that's--back up! Steady. Steady! Hey now. Steady. (Phillipe finally bucks him off.) Phillipe! (Phillipe runs away, leaving Micheal on the edge of the cliff.) Phillipe? Oh no.

(He looks up and sees 3 wolves growling at him. Micheal runs away, being chased by the wolves. He stumbles down a hill, and lands at the gate of a castle. He grabs the locked gate and tries to shake it open.)

*Micheal: Help! Is someone there? Help!

(The gate opens, and Micheal runs in. He slams the gate in the faces of the wolves. One of them pull at his shoe, but he manages to get free. Leaving his cap on the ground as the rain begins to fall, Micheal runs to the castle and bangs on the door. It creaks open and he enters, cautiously.)

*Micheal: Hello? Hello?

(Watching from a table near the entrance are Lumiere and Cogsworth)

*Lumiere: (Barely whispering) Young fellow must have lost his way in the woods.

*Cogsworth: (Also whispering) Keep quiet! Maybe he'll go away.

*Micheal: Is someone there?

*Cogsworth: Not a word, Lumiere. Not one word!

*Micheal: I don't mean to intrude, but I've lost my horse and I need a place to stay for the night.

*Lumiere: (looking at Cogsworth like a child having just found a lost puppy) Oh Cogsworth ... have a heart.

*Cogsworth: Shhhhhh! (Cogsworth puts hand over Lumiere's mouth, who promptly proceeds to touch his lit candle hand to Cogsworth's hand.) Ow Ow Ow Ow OW OW OUCH!!!

*Lumiere: Of course, sir, you are welcome here.

*Micheal: (looking around in confusion) Who said that? (He picks up the candlestick for light, not realizing that the speaker is in his hand)

*Lumiere: (Tapping him on the shoulder) Over here!

*Micheal: (Spins around, pulling Lumiere to the other side) Where?

*Lumiere: (Taps Micheal on the side of the head. Micheal looks at Lumiere.) Hello!

*Micheal: Oh!!!! (Startled, he drops Lumiere onto the floor.) Incredible.

*Cogsworth: (hopping over) Well, now you've done it, Lumiere. Splendid, just peachy- (Micheal picks up Cogsworth) -aaagghh!

*Micheal: How is this accomplished? (He fiddles with Cogsworth)

*Cogsworth: Put me down! Right now! (Micheal tickle the bottoms of his feet.) Stop that! (He laughs) I said, "Stop that"! (Micheal then shakes Cogsworth, upside-down, making Lumiere chuckle. Then Micheal starts to wind the spring on the back of Cogsworth's head, twisting his face around with the clock hands. Micheal opens the front of Cogsworth and begins to play with his pendulum. Cogsworth slams the door shut on his finger.) Sir, close that right now, do you mind?!

*Micheal: I beg your pardon, it's just that I've never seen a clock that can ...aah...i mean...aah aah aah-chooo!!!!

(Micheal sneezes in the face of Cogsworth, who proceeds to wipe his face off using his clock hands in a very anachronistic windshield wiper manner. Micheal sniffles, indicating the cold he has caught from being in the rain.)

*Lumiere: Oh, you are soaked to the bone, sir. Come, warm yourself by the fire.

*Micheal: Thank you.

(Lumiere and Micheal head towards the den, with Cogsworth running after them.)

*Cogsworth: No, no, no, do you know what the master would do if he finds you here. (Wolf is watching the action from an overhead walkway, and rushes off as the trio enters the den.) I demand that you stop...right...there! (Cogsworth tumbles down the steps. Micheal takes a seat in a large chair in front of a roaring fire.) Oh no, no. not the master's chair! (Footstool rushes past Cogsworth, barking up a storm.) I'm not seeing this, I'm not seeing this!

*Micheal: (As Footstool rushes up to him) Well, hi there, boy. (Footstool props himself up under the feet of Micheal. Coatrack enters and put a blanket on him.) What service!

*Cogsworth: All right, this has gone far enough. I'm in charge here, and

(Cogsworth is run over by the (once again) anachronistic IndyCar sounding teacart of Paris)

*Mrs. Potts: (Arriving by the side of Micheal) How would you like a nice spot of tea, sir? It'll warm you up in no time. (Pours tea into cup (Chip), which hops over into Micheal's open hand)

*Cogsworth: (from face down position on carpet) No! No tea, no tea!!!

*Chip: (As Micheal sips the tea) Huh. He feels gantel, mom.

*Micheal: (Startled by the cup) Oh. Hi there.

(The door to the den slams open and a strong gust of wind blows into the room, extinguishing Lumiere's flames and the fire in the fireplace. Cogsworth dives for cover. Mrs. Potts gasp, begins to shake. Chip jumps back onto the tea cart and takes refuge from behind his mother)

*Chip: Uh oh.

(Wolf enters. We see him in full for the first time. He is on feet (Like a wolf character of Zootopia). He looks around in the darkness.)

*Wolf: (Growling his words) There's a stranger here.

*Lumiere: (who has relit his flames) Master, allow me to explain. The gentleman was lost in the woods and he was cold and wet, so...

(Lumiere's last sentence is drowned out by the growl of Wolf, which startled him. Lumiere looks down, dejected.)

*Cogsworth: (Coming out from under a rug) Master, I'd like to take this moment to say...I was against this from the start. I tried to stop them, but would they listen to me? No, no! (Again, Wolf's growl drowns out Cogsworth.)

(Micheal looks to one side of the chair, then to the other and sees Wolf.)

*Wolf: Who are you? What are you doing here?

*Micheal: (Very scared and backing away from the advancing Wolf) I- I- I was

*lost in the woods and- and...(stares at Wolf)

*Wolf: (Advancing on him) You are not WELCOME HERE!

*Micheal: I'm- I'm- I'm sorry

*Wolf: What are you staring at?

*Micheal: (Cowering under Wolf) Noth-noth-nothing! (Turns to leave)

*Wolf: (Racing around and blocking the entrance with surprising speed) So, you've come to stare at the WOLF, have you?

*Micheal: Please, I meant no harm! I just needed a place to stay for the night.

*Wolf: I'll give you a place to stay! (Wolf picks up Micheal, carries him out of the room... )

*Micheal: No, no! Please! no, no!

( ...and slams the door, plunging the den, along with Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and Chip into darkness. Fade out.)

(Fade in to Ben's house, seen from POV of Gaston and Lefou.)

*Lefou: Heh! Oh boy! Ben's gonna get the surprise of his life, huh Gaston?

*Gaston: Yep. This is his lucky day.

(Gaston lets go of a branch, which swings back and hits Lefou in the mouth. Gaston turns to the band, party guests and others, apparently just out of sight of Ben's house.)

*Gaston: I'd like to thank you all for coming to my party. But first, I better go in there and... propose to the boy! (A minister, A baker, and the others laugh heartily. Camera pans quickly to show bimbettes crying their eyes out. To Lefou) Now, you Lefou. When Ben and I come out that door--

*Lefou: Oh I know, I know! (He turns and begins directing the band in "All Star by Smash Mouth." Gaston slams a baritone over his head.)

*Gaston: Not yet!

*Lefou: (From inside the instrument, with his lips sticking out the mouthpiece) Sorry.

(Cut to interior of house. Ben is sitting in a chair reading his new book. There is a knock at the door. He puts the book down and walks to the door. He reaches up and pulls down a viewing device. He peeks through and sees an anachronistically accurate fish-eye view of Gaston. He moans, and pushes the door open.)

*Ben: Gaston, what a pleasant...surprise.

*Gaston: Isn't it though? I'm just full of surprises. You know, Ben. There's not a boy in town who wouldn't love to be in your shoes. This is the day...(Gaston pauses by a mirror and licks his teeth clean.) This is the day your dreams come true.

*Ben: What do you know about my dreams, Gaston?

*Gaston: Plenty. Here, picture this. (Gaston plops down in the chair and props his mud-covered feet up on Ben's book. He begins to kick off his boots and wiggle his toes through his hole-y socks.) A rustic hunting lodge, my latest kill roasting on the fire, and my little wife, massaging my feet, while the little ones play with the dogs. (Ben looks positively disgusted. Gaston gets up next to his face.) We'll have six or seven.

*Ben: Dogs?

*Gaston: No, Ben. Strapping boys, like me!

*Ben: Imagine that. (He picks up her book, places a mark in it, and puts it on the shelf.)

*Gaston: And do you know who that bait will be?

*Ben: Let me think.

*Gaston: (Corners Ben) You, Ben.

*Ben: (Ducking under Gaston'S arms) Gaston, I'm speechless. I really don't know what to say.

*Gaston: (Moving chairs and things out of the way until he reaches Ben and traps her against the door) Say you'r my bait.

*Ben: (Reaching for the doorknob) I'm very sorry, Gaston, ... but ... (He reaches for the doorknob behind him, as Gaston tries to kiss him) ... but ... I just don't deserve you! (Finding the doorknob, he turns it and opens the door, outwards this time, causing Gaston to topple into the mud.)

*Gaston: Whoa!

(The party band begins to play "All Star by Smash Mouth." Gaston's boots are thrown out of the door (now opened inward) and the door is slammed shut. Lefou, who is directing the band, looks down and sees Gaston's legs sticking out of the mud, and a Pierre's head sticking up. Lefou cuts off the band, and Gaston's head pops up, with the pig on top of him. He tilts his head, and the pig slides down his back.)

*Lefou: So, how'd it go?

*Gaston: (Picks up Lefou by the neck) I'll have Ben for my bait, make no mistake about that! (Gaston drops Lefou into the mud.)

*Lefou: (To Pierre) Hm. Touchy!

*Pierre: Grunt Grunt.

(Gaston walks off, dejected, and the focus returns to the house. Ben pokes

his head out the door.)

*Ben: (To the chickens) Is he gone? Can you imagine, he asked me to be his bait. Me, the bait of that boorish, brainless...

♫Mister Gaston, can't you just see it♫

♫Mister Gaston, his little bait♫

♫Not me, no sir, I guarantee it♫

♫I want much more than this provincial life...♫

(Ben walks into the pen and feeds the animals, then runs off singing into an open field overlooking a beautiful valley)

♫I want adventure in the great wide somewhere♫

♫I want it more than I can tell♫

♫And for once it might be grand♫

♫To have someone understand♫

♫I want so much more than they've got planned♫

(Phillipe runs into the open field. Ben looks at him, disturbed that Micheal is not with him.)

*Ben: Phillipe! What are you doing here? Where's ... Where's Dad? Where is he, Phillipe? What happened? Oh, we have to find him, you have to take me to him!

(Ben unhitches the wagon from Phillipe. Cut to exterior of the castle gate. (How Phillipe brought Ben there is a mystery, seeing as Phillipe never made it to the castle with MICHEAL.))

*Ben: What is this place?

(Phillipe snorts, then begins to buck as if something is scaring him. Ben dismounts and comforts him.)

*Ben: Phillipe, please, steady. (He enters the gate and sees Micheal's cap on the ground.) Dad.

(Cut to interior of castle with Cogsworth and Lumiere discussing events.)

*Cogsworth: Couldn't keep quiet, could we. Just had to invite him to stay, didn't we? Serve him tea, sit in the master's chair, pet the pooch.

*Lumiere: I was trying to be hospitable.

(Cut back to door opening and Ben entering castle.)

*Ben: Hello? Is anyone here? Hello? Dad? Dad, are you here?

(We follow as Ben ascends the grand staircase and searches for his father. Cut to kitchen where Mrs. Potts is standing next to a tub of hot water. Chip hops

in.)

*Chip: Mom. There's a boy in the castle!

*Mrs. Potts: Now, Chip, I won't have you making up such wild stories.

*Chip: But really, mom, I saw him.

*Mrs. Potts: (Disgusted) Not another word. Into the tub. (She lifts Chip into the tub. Plumette enters)

*Plumette: A boy! I saw a boy in the castle!

*Chip: (poking his head out from the water) See, I told ya!

(Cut back to Lumiere and Cogsworth bickering)

*Cogsworth: Irresponsible, devil-may-care, waxy eared, slack-jawed--

*Ben: Dad?

(Cogsworth and Lumiere turn to look at the new arrival)

*Lumiere: Did you see that? (Running to the door and poking his head around the corner with Cogsworth) It's a boy!

*Cogsworth: I know it's a boy.

*Lumiere: Don't you see? If it's not a girl, Maybe he's the one. Someone we have been waiting for. He has come to break the spell! (He chases after him.)

*Cogsworth: Wait a minute, wait a minute!

(Ben advances down a narrow hallway. Cogsworth and Lumiere sneak up behind him and open the door that leads to the tower where Micheal is being kept. The door creaks open and Ben hears the sound)

*Ben: Dad? Dad? (Cogsworth hides behind the door and Lumiere rushes off.) Hello? Is someone here? Wait! I'm looking for my Dad, I -- (He begins up the stairs, but doesn't realize that Lumiere is watching him.) That's wierd, I'm sure there was someone... I-I-Is there anyone here?

(Micheal's voice echoes from his cell)

*Micheal: Ben?

*Ben: (Rushes up to the cell to find him) Oh, Dad!

*Micheal: How did you find me?

*Ben: Oh, your hands are like ice. We have to get you out of here.

*Micheal: Ben, I want us to leave this place.

*Ben: Who's done this to you?

*Micheal: No time to explain. You must get me out of here...now!

*Ben: I won't leave you!

(Suddenly, Wolf grabs Ben's shoulder and whips him around. He drops the torch he was carrying into a puddle and the room is dark except for one beam of light from a skylight.)

*Wolf: What are you doing here?

*Micheal: Run, Ben!

*Ben: Who's there? Who are you?

*Wolf: The master of this castle.

*Ben: I've come for my Dad. Please let him out! Can't you see he's sick?

*Wolf: Then he shouldn't have trespassed here.

*Ben: But he could die. Please, I'll do anything!

*Wolf: There's nothing you can do. He's my prisoner.

*Ben: There must be some way I can...wait! Take me, instead!

*Wolf: You! You would... take his place?

*Micheal: Ben! No! You don't know what you're doing!

*Ben: If I did, would you let him go?

*Wolf: Yes, but you must promise to stay here forever, Boy.

(Ben ponders the situation and realizes he can't see the captor)

*Ben: Come into the light.

(Wolf drags his legs, then his whole body into the beam of light. Ben looks, his eyes growing wider until he can stand no more and falls back to Micheal.)

*Micheal: No, Ben. I won't let you do this!

(Ben regains his composure, then steps into the beam of light, giving him a very virgin-ish look)

*Ben: You have my word.

*Wolf: (quickly) Done!

(Wolf moves over to unlock the cell, and Ben collapses to the floor with his head in his hands. We hear the door being unlocked, then Micheal rushing over to Ben.)

*Micheal: No, Ben. Listen to me. I can't go back without you, You need me.

(Wolf grabs him and drags him downstairs)

*Ben: Wait!

*Micheal: Belle!

*Ben: Wait!

(Cut to ext. of castle. Wolf drags Micheal towards the pallenquin)

*Micheal: No, please spare my son! Please!

*Wolf: He's no longer your concern. (Wolf throws Micheal into the pallenquin.) Take him to the town.

(The pallenquin breaks the ivy holding it to the ground, then slinks off like a spider with Micheal inside)

*Micheal: Let me out! Please, Let me out! Let me out! Please! Please!

(Cut to Ben looking out cell window at the pallenquin crossing the bridge over the moat. He begins to cry. Cut to Wolf walking up the stairs. Lumiere is still at his post.)

*Lumiere: Master?

*Wolf: (angrily) What?

*Lumiere: Since the boy is going to be with us for quite some time, I was thinking that you might want to offer him a more comfortable room. (Wolf growls angrily at him, then walks past.) Then again, maybe not.

(Wolf enters the cell where Ben is still crying.)

*Ben: You didn't even let me say good bye. I'll never see him again. I didn't get to say good-bye.

*Wolf: (feeling bad) I'll show you to your room.

*Ben: (surprised) My room? (Indicating the cell) But I thought--

*Wolf: You want to, you want to stay in the tower?

*Ben: No.

*Wolf: Then follow me.

(Wolf leads Ben to his room. As they proceed, Ben begins to lag behind. He looks at the hideous sculptures on the walls and the light casting shadows on them. Frightened, he gasps and runs to catch up with Wolf, who is carrying Lumiere as a light source. Wolf looks back at Ben, and sees a tear form at the corner of her eye.)

*Lumiere: (Quietly, to the Wolf) Say something to him.

*Wolf: Hmm? Oh. (To Ben) I...um...hope you like it here. (He looks at Lumiere for approval. He motions Wolf to continue.) The castle is your home now, so you can go anywhere you wish, except the West Wing.

*Ben: (looking intrigued) What's in the West Wing?

*Wolf: (stopping angrily) It's forbidden!

(Wolf continues, and Ben reluctantly follows. Cut to int. of Ben's room, dark. The door opens and light spills in.)

*Wolf: (Tenderly) Now, if there's anything you need, my servants will attend you.

*Lumiere: (whispering in his ear) Dinner--invite him to dinner.

*Wolf: (Growing angry) You...will join me for dinner, Boy. That's not a request!

(Wolf leaves, slamming the door behind him. Ben, terrified, runs over to the bed and flings himself onto it, finally breaking down and crying. Fade to tavern in the town.)

*Gaston: Who does she think he is? That boy has tangled with the wrong man! No-one says 'no' to Gaston!

*Lefou: (Coming over with mugs of beer) Heh-heh. Darn right!

*Gaston: Dismissed. Rejected. (He snatches both mugs from Lefou.) Publicly humiliated. Why it's more than I can bear! (He throws both mugs of beer into the fire)

*Lefou: Uh ... more beer?

*Gaston: What for? (He turns his chair away.) Nothing helps. I'm disgraced.

*Lefou: (Running around in front) Who, you? Never. (Gaston turns his chair away again and again Lefou runs around in front of him.) Gaston, you've got to pull yourself together.

♫Gosh, it disturbs me to see you, Gaston,♫

♫Looking so down in the dumps♫

♫Every guy here'd love to be you, Gaston♫ (cheers from the gallery)

♫Even when taking your lumps♫

(GASTON turns his chair around to face the fire. LEFOU ducks around in front of him again.)

♫There's no man in town as admired as you♫

♫You're everyone's favourite guy♫

♫Everyone's awed and inspired by you♫

(Lefou turns Gaston's chair around to face the front again.)

♫And it's not very hard to see why!♫

(The bimbettes collapse at Gaston's side, sighing.)

♫No-one's slick as Gaston♫

♫No-one's quick as Gaston♫

♫No-one's neck's as incredibly thick as Gaston♫

♫For there's no man in town half as manly♫

♫Perfect, a pure paragon!♫

♫You can ask any Tom, Dick or Stanley♫

♫And they'll tell ya who's team they'd prefer to be on!♫

(Lefou has pulled a man's belt off, whose pants fall to the ground. Lefou jumps up and wraps the belt around Gaston's neck, who flexes and breaks it off. Lefou continues to dance around. Tom, Dick, Stanley and the crony pick him up and swing him around.)

*Tom, Dick, Stanley, Crony and Lefou: ♫No one's been like Gaston, a king-pin like Gaston♫

*Lefou: ♫No one's got a swell cleft in his chin like Gaston ♫

*Gaston: ♫As a specimen, yes, I'm intimidating!♫

*Tom, Dick, Stanley and Crony: ♫My, what a guy that Gaston!♫

(Tom, Dick, Stanley and the Crony swing Lefou back and forth into the camera. Lefou wiggle his finger on Gaston's chin, who stands with pride)

*Old Cronies: ♫Give five hurrahs, give twelve hip-hips♫

*Lefou: ♫Gaston is the best and the rest is all drips!♫

(Lefou swings up his arm in dance and throws a mug of beer in Gaston's face, who socks Lefou in the face)

*Tom, Dick, Stanley and Crony: ♫No one fights like Gaston, no one bites like Gaston♫

*Stanley: ♫In a wrestling match, nobody bites like Gaston♫

*Bimbettes: ♫For there's no one as burly and brawny♫

*Gaston: ♫As you see I've got biceps to spare♫

*Lefou: ♫Not a bit of him scraggly or scrawny♫

*Gaston: ♫That's right! And every last bit of me's covered with hair!♫

(Gaston fights with the men, then lifts a bench with the bimbettes on it. He drops the bench on Lefou, then turns to the camera and reveals his hairy chest.)

*Tom, Dick, Stanley and Crony: ♫No one hits like Gaston, matches wits like Gaston♫

*Lefou: ♫In a spitting match, nobody spits like Gaston!♫

*Gaston: ♫I'm especially good at expectorating! Ptooey!♫

*Tom, Dick, Stanley and Crony: Ten points for Gaston!♫

(Gaston plays a chess game with a man, then hits the board, sending it and pieces all over. He takes a bite of leather from the belt once wrapped around his neck, chews it and spits it into a spittoon, which falls and gets stuck on the head of Lefou.)

*Gaston: ♫When I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs♫

♫Every morning to help me get large!♫

♫And now that I'm grown, I eat five dozen eggs♫

♫So I'm roughly the size of a barge!♫

(Gaston juggles a number of eggs, then swallows them whole. Lefou attempts the trick, and is hit in the face by three eggs.)

*Tom, Dick, Stanley and Crony: ♫No one shoots like Gaston, makes those beauts like Gaston♫

*Lefou: ♫Then goes tromping around wearing boots like Gaston♫

*Gaston: ♫I use antlers in all of my decorating!♫

(Gaston takes three shots at a beer barrel, which begins leaking into the mugs of onlookers. He returns stomping to his chair, where we see the fireplace surrounded by the heads of the animals he has killed. The mystery cut of music is here! Cut to ending of "Gaston Reprise")

*ALL: ♫My what a guy! Gaston!!!!!!!♫

(Tom, Dick, Stanley and the Crony have picked up the chair and carry Gaston around in it. Lefou

tries to flee, but they toss the chair into its normal place, and Lefou is pinned underneath. Micheal bursts in frantically)

*Micheal: Help! Someone help me!

*Barman: Micheal?

*Micheal: Please! Please, I need your help! He's got him. He's got him locked in the dungeon.

*Tom: Who?

*Micheal: Belle. We must go. Not a minute to lose!

*Gaston: Whoa. Slow down, Micheal. Who's got Ben locked in a dungeon?

*Micheal: A wolf! A horrible, monstrous wolf!

(Micheal has gone from person to person, pleading his case, until he is thrown at the feet of Gaston. A moment of silence, then Tom, Dick, Stanley and the Crony begin to laugh and mock him.)

*Dick: Is it a big wolf?

*Micheal: Huge!

*Stanley: With a long, ugly snout?

*Micheal: Hideously ugly!

*Crony: And sharp, cruel fangs?

*Micheal: Yes, yes. Will you help me? (Tom, Dick, Stanley and the Crony pass Micheal around between them, then push him so he lands at Gaston'S feet.)

*Gaston: All right, man. We'll help you out.

*Micheal: You will? Oh thank you, thank you!

(Dick and Stanley pick up Micheal and help him out by throwing him through the door into the snow.)

*Stanley: Crazy Micheal.

*Dick: Heh-heh. He's always good for a laugh!

*Gaston: (Very pensive) Crazy Micheal, hmm? Crazy Micheal. Hmm. ♫Lefou, I'm afraid I've been thinking.♫

(Lefou is still under the chair.)

*Lefou: ♫A dangerous pastime--♫

*Gaston: (finishing line) ♫I know,♫

♫But that wacky young coot is Ben's father♫

♫And his sanity's only so-so♫

♫Now the wheels in my head have been turning♫

♫Since I looked at that loony young man♫

♫See I promised myself I'd be helping to Ben,♫

♫And right now I'm evolving a plan!♫

(Gaston picks Lefou out from under the chair and holds his head close, and

whispers)

*Gaston: If I...(whisper)

*Lefou: Yes?

*Gaston: Then we...(whisper)

*Lefou: No, would he?

*Gaston: (whispering)...Guess!

*Lefou: Now I get it!

*Both: Let's go!

(They begin a waltz around the floor as they sing)

*Both: ♫No one plots like Gaston, ♫

*Gaston: ♫takes cheap shots like Gaston♫

*Lefou: ♫Plans to persecute harmless crackpots like Gaston♫

*All: ♫So his party we soon'll be celebrating!♫

♫My what a guy, Gaston!!!♫

(Camera zooms out through window to snow covered square, empty except for

Micheal)

*Micheal: (to no one in particular) Will no one help me?

(Fade back to the bedroom of the castle where Ben is still crying. There is a'clink clink clink' at the door. He gets up and walks over to open the door.

Mr. and Mrs. Potts enters with Chip and their entourage.)

*Ben: Who is it?

*Mrs. Potts: (from outside the door) Mrs. Potts, dear. (Door opens.) I thought you might like a spot of tea.

*Ben: (amazed at the fact that he is listening to a walking tea set) But you...ah...but...I--

(Ben bumps into the wardrobe)

*Jardrobe: Oof. Careful!

*Ben: (sits on bed) This is impossible--

*Jardrobe: (leans 'shoulder' on bed, popping other end and Ben into the air) I know it is, but here we are!

*Chip: (as sugar and cream are being poured into him) Told ya he was gantel, mom, didn't I?

*Mr. Potts: Yup. You'r right.

*Mrs. Potts: All right, now, Chip. That'll do. (Chip hops over to Ben, who is sitting on the floor) Slowly, now. Don't spill!

*Ben: Thank you. (He picks up CHIP, and is about to take a sip of tea.)

*Chip: (To Ben) Wanna see me do a trick? (Chip takes a big breath, then puffs out his cheeks and blows bubbles out the top of the cup.)

*Mrs. Potts: (admonishingly) Chip!

*Chip: (looking guilty) Oops. Sorry.

*Mrs. Potts: (To Ben) That was a very brave thing you did, kid.

*Gardrobe: We all think so.

*Ben: But I'm 13 years old. I've lost my Dad, my dreams, everything.

*Mrs. Potts: Cheer up, kid. It'll turn out okay in the end. You'll see. (She looks up, startled.) Oops! Look at me, jabbering on, when there's a supper to get on the table. Chip!

*Mr. Potts: (to Chip) Come on, Son.

*Chip: (hopping away) Bye!

(Ben stands and the Jadrobe approaches her.)

*Jardrobe: Well now, what shall we dress you in for dinner? Let's see what I've got in my drawers. (The doors fly open and moths flutter out. He slams them shut.) Oh! How embarrassing. Here we are. (One door opens, the other serves as an arm. It pulls out a pink cloths.) Ah! There, you'll look ravishing in this one! (Something to think about: We never hear of a butler or waiter or groom, so what is a man living on his own doing with a wardrobe full of boy's clothing? Maybe he wants to be a lumberjack!)

*Ben: That's very kind of you, but I'm not going to dinner.

*Jardrobe: Oh, but you must!

(Cogsworth waddles in)

*Cogsworth: (Clear Throat) Ahem, ahem, ahem. Dinner...is served.

(Cut to Wolf pacing back and forth in front of fire, with Mrs. Potts and Lumiere looking on.)

*Wolf: What's taking so long? I told him to come down. Why isn't he here yet?!?

*Mrs. Potts: Oh, try to be patient, sir. The boy has lost his dad and his freedom all in one day.

*Lumiere: Uh, master. Have you thought that, perhaps, this boy could be the one to break the spell?

*Wolf: (angrily) Of course I have. I'm not a fool.

*Lumiere: Good. You fall in love with him, he falls in love with you, and--Poof!--the spell is broken! We'll be human again by midnight! (That sounds like a good title for a song-- "Human Again")

*Mrs. Potts: Oh, it's not that easy, Lumiere. These things take time.

*Lumiere: But the rose has already begun to wilt.

*Wolf: It's no use. He's so wonderful, and I'm so...well, look at me!

(Lumiere shrugs his shoulders and looks at Mrs Potts.)

*Mrs. Potts: Oh, you must help him to see past all that.

*Wolf: I don't know how.

*Mrs. Potts: Well, you can start by making yourself more presentable. Straighten up, try to act like a gentleman.

(Wolf stands up, then straightens his face very formally)

*Lumiere: (adding in) Ah yes, when he comes in, give him a dashing, debonair smile. Come, come. Show me the smile. (Wolf bears his ragged fangs in a scary, and yet funny grin.)

*Mrs. Potts: But don't frighten the poor boy. He's 13 years old.

*Lumiere: Impress him with your rapier wit.

*Mrs. Potts: But be gentle.

*Lumiere: Shower him with compliments.

*Mrs. Potts: But be sincere

*Lumiere: And above all...

*Both: You must control your temper!

(The door creaks open. Wolf wipes the silly face off, and looks to the door

expectantly.)

*Lumiere: Here he is!

(Cogsworth enters.)

*Cogsworth: Uh, good evening.

(Wolf goes from looking expectant to mad.)

*Wolf: (growling) Well, where is he?

*Cogsworth: Who? Oh! (He laughs nervously) The boy. Yes ... uh ... well, actually, he's in the process of ... uh ... circumstances being what they are ... (he realises this is hopeless and says in a very small voice,) he's not coming.

(Cut to ext of den with door slightly ajar)

*Wolf: WHAT?!

(Door bangs open and Wolf comes running out, with objects giving chase)

*Cogsworth: Your grace! Your eminence! Let's not be hasty!

(Cut to ext of Ben's room. Wolf runs up to it and bangs on the door.)

*Wolf: (Yelling) I thought I told you to come down to dinner!

*Ben: (From behind the door) I'm not hungry.

*Wolf: You'll come out or I'll ... I'll ... I'll break down the door!

*Lumiere: (interrupting) Master, I could be wrong, but that may not be the best way to win the boy's affections.

*Cogsworth: (pleading) Please! Attempt to be a gentleman.

*Wolf: (growing angrier) But he is being so...difficult!

*Mrs. Potts: Gently, gently.

*Wolf: (very dejected) Will you come down to dinner?

*Ben: No!

(Wolf looks at the objects, points at door with his thumb, very frustrated.)

*Cogsworth: Ah-ah-ah, Suave. Genteel.

*Wolf: (Trying to act formal, bowing at the door) It would give me great pleasure...(tries to hold in his anger)...if you would join me for dinner.

*Cogsworth: (clears throat and mutters) Ahem, ahem, we say 'please.'

*Wolf: (once again dejected) ...please.

*Ben: (Mad at Wolf) No, thank you.

*Wolf: (furious) You can't stay in there forever!

*Ben: (provokingly) Yes I can!

*Wolf: Fine! Then go ahead and STARVE!!!! (To objects) If he doesn't eat with me, then he doesn't eat at all!

(Wolf runs back down the hall, slamming a door and causing a piece of the ceiling to fall on Lumiere.)

*Mrs. Potts: Oh man. That couldn've been gone better at all, could it?

*Cogsworth: Lumiere, stand watch at the door and inform me at once if there is the slightest change.

*Lumiere: (Taking guard position next to door) You can count on me, capitan.

*Cogsworth: Well, I guess we better go downstairs and start cleaning up.

(Cut to int of Wolf's lair. Wolf enters, knocking over and destroying things in his path.)

*Wolf: I ask nicely, but he refuses. What a...what does he want me to do--beg? (Picking up the magic mirror) Show me the boy.

(The magic mirror shines, then glows green and reveals Ben in her bedroom, talking to the Jardrobe)

*Jarbrobe: (in mirror pleading) Why the master's not so bad once you get to know him. Why don't you give him a chance?

*Ben: (still disturbed by the attack) I don't want to get to know him. I don't want to have anything to do with him! I believe, I agree that my dad was right. He was horroble as a devil!

*Wolf: (setting down the magic mirror, speaking tenderly) I'm just fooling myself. He'll never see me as anything...but a monster. (Another petal falls off the rose.) It's hopeless.

(Wolf puts his head in his hands as in a depressed state. Fade out/Fade in to 11:30 and ext of Ben's room. Door creaks open. Ben silently emerges. We see his feet go by as three bright spots shine through a curtain at floor level. Behind it are Lumiere and Plumette.)

*Plumette: Oh, no!

*Lumiere: Oh, yes!

*Plumette: Oh, no!

*Lumiere: Oh, yes, yes, yes!

*Plumette: I've been burnt by you before!

(Lumiere and Plumette have emerged and Lumiere takes her in his arms. Suddenly he looks up and sees Ben walking down the hall. He drops Plumette.)

*Plumette: Oof!

*Lumiere: Zip Beatle! He has emerged!

(Cut to kitchen, where we find Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip and the stove.)

*Mrs. Potts: Come on, Chip. Into the cupboard with your brothers and sisters. (helping him in)

*Chip: But (Yawns) I'm not sleepy.

*Mrs. Potts: Yes you are.

*Chip: No, I'm...not. (He falls asleep and Mrs. Potts shuts the cupboard door.)

(A banging of pots and pans comes from the stove.)

*Stove: I work and I slave all day, and for what? A culinary masterpiece gone to waste.

*Mrs. Potts: Oh, stop your grousing. It's been a long night for all of us.

*Cogsworth: Well, if you ask me, he was just being stubborn. After all, the master did say 'please.'

*Mrs. Potts: But if the master doesn't learn to control that temper, he'll never break the--

(Ben enters, and Cogsworth cuts off Mrs. Potts before she can say 'spell.')

*Cogsworth: (interrupting) Splendid to see you out and about, young man. (Lumiere comes running in.) I am Cogsworth, head of the household. (He leans over to shake his hand, but Lumiere butts in front of him.) This is Lumiere.

*Lumiere: Nice To meet you.

*Cogsworth: (trying to talk around Lumiere who is still shaking Ben's hand) If there's anything...stop that...that we can...please (finally shoving him out of the way)...to make your stay more comfortable. (Lumiere burns the hand of Cogsworth) Ow!!!!

*Ben: Well I am a little hungry.

*Mrs. Potts: (excited, to the other tea pots) You are? Hear that? He's hungry. Stoke the fire, break out the silver, wake the china.

(The fire on the STOVE roars to life, and drawers open to reveal silverware standing at attention.)

*Cogsworth: (secretively) Remember what the master said.

*Mrs. Potts: Oh, come on. I'm not going to let the poor teen go hungry.

*Cogsworth: (thinking he is giving in to the ultimate demand) Oh, all right. Glass of water, crust of bread, and then--

*Lumiere: Cogsworth, I am surprised at you. He's not our prisoner. He's our guest. We must make him feel welcome here. (to Ben) Right this way, young man.

*Cogsworth: Well keep it down. If the master finds out about this, it will be our necks!

*Lumiere: Of course, of course. But what is dinner without a little music?

(Lumiere has started out the swinging door. He lets it close, and the door hits Cogsworth and sends him across the room to land in a pan filled with (what looks like) pancake batter. He screams his line as he is in flight.)

*Cogsworth: MUSIC!?!

(Cut to dining room, where Ben is seated at the end of a long table. Lumiere

is on the table and a spotlight shines on him.)

*Lumiere: My cheer, young man. It is with deepest pleasure and greatest pride that I welcome you tonight. And now, we invite you to relax. Let us pull up a chair as the dining room proudly presents...your dinner. ♫Be our guest, be our guest♫

♫Put our service to the test,♫

♫Tie your napkin 'round your neck, cherie♫

♫And we provide the rest!♫

(The chair has wrapped a napkin around the neck of Ben, who takes it off and places it on her lap. The chair's arms put it's hands on it's 'waist' as if it were mad.)

♫Soup du jour, hot hors d'oeuvres♫

♫Why we only live to serve♫

♫Try the grey stuff, it's delicious♫

♫Don't believe me? Ask the dishes!♫

(Lumiere offers Ben a plate of hors d'oeuvres. He dips his finger in one, and tastes it.)

♫They can sing, they can dance♫

♫After all, miss, this is France!♫

♫And a dinner here is never second best!♫

♫Go on unfold your menu, take a glance and then you'll♫

♫Be our guest, be our guest, be our guest!♫

(A cabinet at the end of the table opens to reveal a large china collection, which rolls out and begins to perform. Lumiere hands Ben a menu, which he begins to read.)

♫Beef ragout, cheese souffle,♫

♫Pie and pudding en flambe!♫

♫We'll prepare and serve with flair♫

♫A culinary cabaret!♫

(Plates of food go dancing by, with Cogsworth in the pudding. Lumiere sets his torch to it, and it explodes, turning Cogsworth's face black with soot.)

♫You're alone and you're scared,♫

♫But the banquet's all prepared!♫

♫No one's gloomy or complaining,♫

♫While the flatware's entertaining!♫

(The flatware enters a 'Busby Berlkley-esque' swimming scene.)

♫We tell jokes, I do tricks♫

♫With my fellow candlesticks♫

(Lumiere, standing on a plate, is elevated and begins to juggle his candles. Mugs enter the shot.)

*Mugs: ♫And it's all in perfect taste♫

♫That you can bet!!!♫

(The mugs begin a gymnastics routine, hopping over one another and passing a beverage from one to the next)

*All: ♫Come on and lift your glass,♫

♫You've won your own free pass♫

♫To be our guest, be our guest, be our guest!♫

*Lumiere: ♫If you're stressed, it's fine dining we suggest!♫

*All: ♫Be our guest, be our guest, be our guest!♫

(All leave except Cogsworth, who looks scared, then begins to inch away. Lumiere enters and holds him there.)

*Lumiere: ♫Life is so unnerving,♫

♫For a servant who's not serving!♫

♫He's not whole without a soul to wait upon♫

*Cogsworth: Get off!

*Lumiere: ♫Ah, those good old days when we were useful♫

♫Suddenly, those good old days are gone.♫

(Lumiere sings as if he were reminiscing. Snow begins to fall. Cogsworth looks up and sees the salt and pepper shakers doing their thing.)

*Lumiere: ♫Ten years we've been rusting♫

♫Needing so much more than dusting♫

♫Needing exercise, a chance to use our skills!♫

(Lumiere dusts the salt of the head of Cogsworth, who tries to escape. He trips and falls into the gelatin mold.)

♫Most days just lay around the castle,♫

♫Flabby fat and lazy♫

♫You walked in, and oops-a-daisie!♫

(Lumiere jumps on a spoon in the gelatin, which catapults Cogsworth out of the mold. Cut to kitchen, where Mrs. Potts is surrounded by soap bubbles.)

*Mrs. Potts: ♫It's a guest, it's a guest!♫

♫Sakes alive, well I'll be blessed!♫

♫Wine's been poured and thank the Lord♫

♫I've had the napkins freshly pressed!♫

(Mrs. Potts continues to dance around the kitchen)

♫With dessert, he'll want tea,♫

♫And my dear, that's fine with me!♫

♫While the cups do their soft shoeing,♫

♫I'll be bubbling, I'll be brewing!♫

♫I'll get warm, piping hot♫

♫Heaven's sake, is that a spot?♫

♫Clean it up, we want the company impressed!♫

♫We've got a lot to do--♫

♫Is it one lump or two?♫

♫For you our guest!♫

(Mrs. Potts is cleaned off by a napkin. She hops onto the tea cart and rolls into the dining room, where she offers tea to Ben.)

*All: ♫He's our guest!♫

*Mrs. Potts: ♫He's our guest!♫

*All: ♫He's our guest!♫

♫Be our guest! Be our guest!♫

♫Our command is your request!♫

*Cogsworth: (Spoken, trying to keep things in order) Let's go, people. Fun's over. Over here. Line up. (He yelps as he's almost dusted away by the advancing dusters.)

*All: ♫It's ten years since we had anybody here, And we're obsessed!♫

♫With your meal, with your ease,♫

♫Yes indeed, we aim to please♫

♫While the candlelight's still glowing♫

♫Let us help you, we'll keep going--♫

(The china and candlesticks perform an elaborately choreographed dance sequence,

ending in a c.u. of Lumiere.)

*All (esp. Lumiere): ♫Course, by course♫

♫One by one♫

♫'Til you shout "Enough, I'm done!"♫

♫Then we'll sing you off to sleep as you digest♫

♫Tonight you'll prop your feet up,♫

♫But for let's eat up♫

♫Be our guest! Be our guest! Be our guest! Please Be our guest!!♫

(A fantastic ending comes of the song, with silverware flying through the air, plates and featherdusters dancing, and Cogsworth the focus of attention, until Lumiere comes sliding in and sends him flying out of camera range.)

*Ben: Bravo! That was wonderful!

*Cogsworth: Thank you, thank you, young man. Yes, good show, wasn't it everyone. (Looking at his own face) Oh, my goodness, will you look at the time. Now, it's off to bed, off to bed!

(Lumiere comes up next to Cogsworth.)

*Ben: Oh, I couldn't possibly go to bed now. It's my first time in an enchanted castle.

*Cogsworth: Enchanted? Who said anything about the castle being enchanted? (He tries to cover it up, just as a fork runs past. To Lumiere) It was you, wasn't it?

*Ben: I, um, figured it out for myself. (Cogsworth and Lumiere have been fighting. They both look at her, then stop. Cogsworth dusts himself off, and Lumiere fixes his wax nose.) I'd like to look around, if that's all right.

*Lumiere: (excited) Oh! Would you like a tour?

*Cogsworth: Wait a second, wait a second. I'm not sure that's such a good idea. (Confidentially, to Lumiere) We can't let her go poking around in certain places, if you know what I mean.

*Ben: (Poking Cogsworth in the belly (like the Pillsbury doughboy)) Perhaps you could take me. I'm sure you know everything there is to know about the castle.

*Cogsworth: (flattered) Well, actually, ah yes, I do!

(Fade to Cogsworth, Lumiere, and Ben walking down a hall with a footstool. Cogsworth is lecturing.)

*Cogsworth: As you can see, the pseudo facade was stripped away to reveal a minimalist rococo design. Note the unusual inverted vaulted ceilings. This is yet another example of the neo-classic baroque period, and as I always say, if it's not baroque, don't fix it! Ha ha ha. Now then, where was I? (He turns to find the heads of the suits of armor have turned to follow Ben.) As you were! (They all snap back to face forward.) Now, if I may draw your attention to the flying buttresses above the--young man?

(Cogsworth turns back to the group and is one boy short. He sees him beginning to climb the grand staircase. He and Lumiere run up to him and jump in front of him, blocking him progress upstairs.)

*Ben: What's up there?

*Cogsworth: Where? Up there? Nothing. Absolutely nothing of interest at all in the West Wing. Dusty, dull, very boring.

(Lumiere has been shaking his head, but Cogsworth nudges him and he nods in agreement.)

*Ben: Oh, so that's the West Wing.

*Lumiere: (To Cogsworth) Nice going.

*Ben: I wonder what he's hiding up there.

*Lumiere: Hiding? The -- the master is hiding nothing.

*Ben: Then it wouldn't be forbidden. (He steps over them, but they dash up and block him again.)

*Cogsworth: Perhaps young man would like to see something else. We have exquisite tapestries dating all the way back to...

*Ben: (again stepping over them) Maybe later.

*Lumiere: (with Cogsworth, again dashing and blocking) The gardens, or the library perhaps?

*Ben: (Now, with incredible interest) You have a library?

*Cogsworth: (Thrilled that he has found something to interest him) Oh yes! Indeed!

*Lumiere: With books!

*Cogworth: Gads of books!

*Lumiere: Mountains of books!

*Cogsworth: Forests of books!

*Lumiere: Cascades...

*Cogsworth: ...of books!

*Lumiere: Swamps of books!

*Cogsworth: More books than you'll ever be able to read in a lifetime! Books on every subject ever studied, by every author who ever set pen to paper...

(Lumiere and Cogsworth begin marching off, and Ben begins to follow, but his curiosity overtakes him, and he turns back to the West Wing. His excitement begins to dwindle, though, when he enters the hallway leading to Wolf's lair. As he walks down the hall, he stops to look in a mirror that has been

shattered into several pieces, each one reflecting his concerned look. He reaches the end of the hall and finds a closed door with gargoyle handles. He takes a deep breath, then reaches out and opens the door. Cut to int of lair, where Ben begins to explore. He is truly shocked by everything he sees.

He wanders around, looking, and knocks over a table, but he catches it before it crashes to the floor. He then turns his head and sees a shredded picture on the wall. We can only see part of a portrait. It is the same portrait that was shredded in the opening. Ben reaches out and lifts the shreds of the picture to reveal Adam. We never see this, however, for then he turns his head and sees the rose under the bell jar. He walks over to it, her eyes transfixed. He reaches up, brushes back the strand of hair that has been repeatedly falling on his forehead, He reaches out, then lifts off the jar, leaving the rose unprotected. then reaches out to touch the rose. As he nears it, a shadow falls over him. Wolf has been on the balcony, and sees him. He jumps back into the room, then slams the jar back on the rose. He then turns his attention to Ben.)

*Wolf: (growing angry) Why did you come here, Boy?

*Ben: (Backing away, scared) I'm -- I'm sorry.

*Wolf: I warned you never to come here!

*Ben: I didn't mean any harm.

*Wolf: (Angrier) Do you realize what you could have done?! (Begins to thrash at the furniture)

*Ben: (Pleading, but still scared) Please, stop!

*Wolf: (Screaming) Get out!!!!

*Ben: (Turns and flees the room.) No!

*Wolf: (Thrash everything and turns to Ben, Screaming) GET OUT!!!!

(Ben flees the lair. Wolf calms down, then falls into despair, finally realizing that he may have destroyed his chances with Ben. He reaches the stairway and grabs his blue zip up hoddie. He rushes down the stairs, put the hoodie on and zip a zipper up, put it on and bursting past a confused Lumiere and Cogsworth.)

*Lumiere: Wh- Where are you going?

*Ben: Promise or no promise, I can't stay here another minute!

*Cogsworth: Oh no, wait, please! Please wait!

(Lumiere tries to respond, but Ben slams the door behind him. He and Cogsworth both bow their heads in sadness. Cut to Ben outside the forest on Phillipe. He begins to go back to the town where he belong with his father, cut to the view, where Ben ride through the forest, but Phillipe comes to a stop. He looks up and sees the wolves. He gasps, then pulls the reins and begins to flee. He runs from side to side, making the wolves hit the trees (a la Speederbike chase in Return of the Jedi). Phillipe runs out on a frozen pond, but his and Ben's weight collapse the ice. The wolves chase her into the water. Some begin to drown, but Phillipe is able to get out of the water before anything serious happens. He runs into a clearing, but becomes surrounded by wolves. He bucks, throwing Ben off and wrapping the reins around a tree branch. The wolves begin their attack on Phillipe, but Ben comes to his rescue and beats them away with a stick. One wolf grabs the stick in its mouth and breaks half of it off, leaving Ben defenseless. Another leaps at him, grabbing the top of his hoody and dragging him to the ground. He looks up and sees a wolf about to jump on top of him. It leaps and is caught by Wolf. He throws the wolf away, then stands behind them and Ben. They lunge at each other. One rips a hole in Wolf's shoulder, and the others focus their attack on that spot. Finally, Wolf throws a wolf against a tree, knocking it out. The others turn and run in fear. Wolf turns back to Ben, looks at him despairingly, then collapses. Ben, grateful to be alive, turns back to Phillipe, intending to flee, but his conscience comes in and he turns back to the fallen Wolf. He goes over to him and covers him with his hoodie. Fade to Ben and Phillipe walking back to the castle, with Wolf on the horse's back. Fade to int of den, with Ben pouring hot water out of Mrs. Potts. He soaks a rag in the water, then turns to Wolf, who is licking his wounds.)

*Ben: Here now. Oh, don't do that. (Wolf growls at him as he tries to clean the wound with his rag.) Just...hold still.

(He touches the rag to the wound and Wolf growl in pain. The objects, who have been watching, jump back into hiding from the outburst.)

*Wolf: That hurts!

*Ben: (In counterpoint) If you'd hold still, it wouldn't hurt as much.

*Wolf: Well if you hadn't run away, this wouldn't have happened!

*Ben: Well if you hadn't frightened me, I wouldn't have run away!

*Wolf: (Opens his mouth to respond, but has to stop and think of a good line) Well you shouldn't have been in the West Wing!

*Ben: Well you should learn to control your temper! (Wolf raises his hand to bring out another point, but finds he has none, so he bows his head down again. The objects emerge from their hiding as Ben has conquered the ferocious temper of Wolf. Ben moves the rag closer to the wound) Now, hold still. This may sting a little. (Wolf gives a surprised grunt, then grits his teeth as the rag is applied. Ben speaks tenderly.) By the way, thank you, for saving my life.

(Wolf opens his eyes, looking surprised.)

*Wolf: (Also very tenderly) You're welcome.

(Camera zooms out and we see the objects looking on with interest. Fade to Gaston's tavern, which is empty except for Gaston, Lefou and Sir D'Arque, who are all sitting at a table.)

*D'Arque: I don't usually leave the asylum in the middle of the night, but they said you'd make it worth my while. (Gaston pulls out a bag of money and tosses it in front of him. He takes out 5 dollers, scrapes it on his chin and continues.) Aah, I'm listening.

*Gaston: It's like this. I've got my heart set on helping Ben, but he needs a little persuasion.

*Lefou: (butting in) Turned him down flat!

(Gaston slams a beer mug on his head.)

*Gaston: Everyone knows his father's a lunatic. He was in here tonight raving about a wolf in a castle...

*D'Arque: Micheal is harmless.

*Gaston: The point is, Ben would do anything to keep him from being locked up.

*Lefou: Yeah, even be a bait!

(Gaston gives him another threatening look, and he ducks back under the mug.)

*D'Arque: So you want me to throw his father in the asylum unless he agrees to be your bait? (They both nod in agreement.) Oh, that is despicable. (He starts to laugh) I love it!

(Cut to int of Ben's house. Micheal is packing to leave.)

*Micheal: If no one will help me, then I'll go back alone. And there is something I can do. I don't care what it takes. I'll find that castle and somehow I'll ... I'll get him out of there.

(Micheal leaves on his journey. Seconds later, Gaston and Lefou arrive with D'Arque. They enter the house looking for one of the residents.)

*Gaston: Ben! Micheal!

*Lefou: Oh, well, I guess it's not gonna work after all.

(Gaston grabs him by the neck and walks outside.)

*Gaston: They have to come back sometime, and when they do, we'll be ready for them. Lefou, (Drops Lefou into a snowbank by the porch) don't move from that spot... (Gaston jumps back in the police truck which leaves.) ...until Ben and his father come home.

*Lefou: But ... but- I... aww nuts! (He pounds the side of the house and a pile of snow falls on his head.)

(Fade to ext of castle. Ben is playing in the snow with Phillipe and

Footstool. Wolf, Cogsworth and Lumiere watch from the balcony.)

*Wolf: I've never felt this way about anyone. (Looks excited) I want to do something for him. (Looks discouraged.) But what?

*Cogsworth: Well, there's the usual things--flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep...

*Lumiere: Ahh, no no. It has to be something very special. Something that sparks his inter--wait a minute.

(Cut to int hallway leading to library. Wolf and Ben are alone.)

*Wolf: Ben, there's something I want to show you. (Begins to open the door, then stops.) But first, you have to close your eyes. (He looks at him questioningly.) It's a surprise.

(Ben closes his eyes, and Wolf waves his hand in front of him. Then he opens the door. He leads him in.)

*Ben: (Just as he enters the room) Can I open them?

*Wolf: No, no. Not yet. Wait here.

(Wolf walks away to draw back the curtains. He does, and brilliant sunlight spills into the room. Ben flinches reflexively as the light hits his face.)

*Ben: Now can I open them?

*Wolf: All right. Now.

(Ben opens her eyes and the camera pulls back to reveal the gigantic library filled with books.)

*Ben: I can't believe it. I've never seen so many books in all my life!

*Wolf: You--you like it?

*Ben: It's wonderful.

*Wolf: Then it's yours.

*Ben: Oh, thank you so much.

(Cut to Ben and Wolf in bkgd, with objects including Chip in foreground watching them.)

*Mrs. Potts: Oh, would you look at that?

*Lumiere: Ha ha! I knew it would work.

*Chip: What? What works?

*Cogsworth: It's very encouraging.

*Plumette: Isn't this exciting?

*Chip: I didn't see anything.

*Mrs. Potts: Come along, Chip. There's chores to be done in the kitchen.

*Chip: But what are they talking about? What's going on? C'mon, Mom.

(Objects walk away. Fade to breakfast table with Ben at one end and Wolf at the other, with Mrs. Potts between them. Ben is served breakfast, and as he begins to eat, he looks at Wolf and gasps, gobbling up his food with no table manners whatsoever. Ben turns away and tries to ignore it, but Chip comes to the rescue. He nudges the spoon with his nose, and Wolf reaches out for it (very 3-D-ishly). Ben looks at him in wonder as he tries to eat with the spoon, but he has little success. Chip laughs, but Mrs. Potts shoots him an admonishing look. Finally, Ben puts down his spoon and lifts his bowl as if in a toast. Wolf looks at the compromise and does the same. They both begin to sip their breakfast out of their bowls. Fade to courtyard where Ben and Wolf are feeding the birds.)

*Ben: ♫There's something sweet♫

♫And almost kind♫

♫But he was mean♫

♫And he was coarse and unrefined.♫

♫But now he's dear♫

♫And so unsure,♫

♫I wonder why I didn't see it there before.♫

(Ben is trying to attract some birds to Wolf, who shoves a handful of seed at them. Finally, he takes a handful and gently spreads it out, creating a trail. One lands in his hands, and he looks up thrilled.)

*Wolf: ♫He glanced this way♫

♫I thought I saw♫

♫And when we touched♫

♫He didn't shudder at my paw♫

♫No it can't be♫

♫I'll just ignore♫

♫But then he's never looked at me that way before.♫

(Ben has ducked around a tree, leaving Wolf with the birds. He begins to look doubtful again, but turns his head around the tree and laughs. Wolf is covered with birds.)

*Ben: ♫New, and a bit alarming♫

♫Who'd have ever thought that this could be?♫

♫True, that he's no Prince Charming♫

♫But there's something in him that I simply didn't see.♫

(Ben throws a snowball at Wolf, who had looked at him proudly after the birds flew away. He begins to gather a large pile of snow. We cut to the objects, looking out of a window at the two. In the background, Ben throws another snowball at Wolf, who drops his huge pile of snow on his head. He chases him around a tree, but he ducks around the other side and sneaks up on him from behind.)

*Lumiere: ♫Well who'd have thought?♫

*Mrs. Potts: ♫Well bless my soul.♫

*Cogsworth: ♫And who'd have known?♫

*Mrs. Potts: ♫Well who indeed?♫

*Lumiere: ♫And who'd have guessed they'd come together on their own?♫

*Mrs. Potts: ♫It's so peculiar♫

*All: ♫We'll wait and see♫

♫A few days more♫

♫There may be something there that wasn't there before♫

(Fade to den where Ben sits in front of a roaring fire and reads to Wolf. Objects inc. Chip watch from doorway)

*Cogsworth: ♫Yes, perhaps there's something there that wasn't there before.♫

*Chip: What?

*Mrs. Potts: ♫There may be something there that wasn't there before.♫

*Chip: What's there, mama?

*Mrs. Potts: I'll tell you when you're older.(Cogsworth is standing on the staircase, organising the objects.)

*Cogsworth: Right then, you all know why we're here. We have exactly 12 hours, 37 minutes and 15 seconds to create the most magical, spontaneous, romantic atmosphere known to man (He laughs) or wolf. Right. Need I remind you that as the last petal falls from this rose, the spell will never be broken! Very well. You all know your assignments. Half of you to the West Wing, half of you to the East Wing, the rest of you come with me.

(The objects all rush off and leave Cogsworth alone. Footstool, who Cogsworth has been standing on, suddenly bursts from under him, sending him tumbling down the stairs. Cogsworth yells as he falls, and lands, losing a cog. Lumiere, Mrs. Potts and Plumette hop back in and Lumiere picks up the cog.)

*Lumiere: Lighten up, Cogsworth, and let nature take its course.

*Mrs. Potts: It's obvious there's a spark between them. (Lumiere starts to polish Cogsworth's cog.)

*Cogsworth: Yes, but (he snatches the cog from Lumiere) there's no harm in fanning the flames, you know -- a little. (He replaces the cog.) Besides, they must fall in love tonight if we ever expect to be human again.

*Lumiere: Ah ... human again.

*Mrs. Potts: Human again.

*Lumiere: Yes ... think what that means. (He winds Cogsworth's minute hand so that it points to the 12. Cogsworth starts chiming.) ♫I'll be cooking again,♫

♫Be good-looking again♫

♫With a mademoiselle on each arm♫

♫When I'm human again,♫

♫Only human again♫

♫Poised and polished and gleaming with charm♫

♫I'll be courting again,♫

♫Chic and sporting again♫

*Mrs. Potts: ♫Which should cause several husbands alarm♫

*Lumiere: ♫I'll hop down off this shelf,♫

♫And tout de suite, be myself!♫

*All: ♫I can't wait to be human again!♫

*Perfume Bottle, Comb, Powder Puff and Brush: ♫When we're human again,♫

♫Only human again♫

♫When we're knick-knacks and what-nots no more♫

♫When we're human again,♫

♫Good and human again♫

*Gardrobe: ♫Ah, cherie, won't it all be top drawer?♫

♫I'll wear lipstick and rouge,♫

♫And I won't be so huge♫

♫Why I'll easily fit through that door!♫

♫I'll exude savoir faire,♫

♫I'll wear gowns, I'll have hair!♫

♫It's my prayer to be human again!♫

(The scene moves outside, where Mrs. Potts and Cogsworth are standing on a

fence. Cogsworth is wearing a farmer-style hat and holding a pitchfork.)

*Mrs. Potts and Cogsworth: ♫When we're human again,♫

♫Only human again♫

♫When the world once more starts making sense♫

(A bucket and a couple of brushes hop past. Cogsworth goes to follow them, but the pitchfork gets stuck and Cogsworth flies into the barn, where Lumiere is brushing the horse's nose and lands in a bucket of water.)

*Cogsworth: ♫I'll unwind for a change.♫

*Lumiere: ♫Really? That'd be strange.♫ (He helps Cogsworth out)

*Cogsworth: ♫Can I help it if I'm t-t-tense?♫

♫In a shack by the sea♫

♫I'll sit back sipping tea,♫ (He starts drying himself with a towel)

♫Let my early retirement commence!♫

♫Far from fools made of wax,♫ (He puts the towel over Lumiere)

♫I'll get down to brass tacks♫ (Behind him, Lumiere takes the towel off his head, rolls it up and snaps it on Cogsworth, who falls back into the water while saying his line.) ♫And relax!♫

*All: ♫When I'm human again!♫

♫So sweep the dust from the floor♫

♫Let's let some light in the room♫

♫I can feel, I can tell♫

♫Someone might break the spell♫

♫Any day now!♫

♫Shine up the brass on the door♫

♫Alert the dustbin and broom♫

♫If it all goes as planned,♫

♫Our time may be at hand♫

♫Any day now!♫

*Dusters: ♫Open the shutters and let in some air♫

*Mrs. Potts: ♫Put these here, and put those over there♫

*All: ♫Sweep up the years,♫

♫The sadness and tears♫

♫And throw them away♫

(The brooms sweep the dust off the the balcony and it falls on Cogsworth, who is organising the shovels below. The camera goes through the window to where the mops are mopping a great hall.)

*All: ♫We'll be human again,♫

♫Only human again♫

♫When the girl finally sets us all free♫

♫Cheeks a-bloomin' again,♫

♫We're assumin' again♫

♫We'll resume our long-lost joie de vivre♫

♫We'll be playin' again,♫

♫Holidayin' again♫

♫And we're prayin' its A.S.A.P.♫

♫We will push, we will shove,♫

♫They will both fall in love♫

♫And we'll finally be human again!♫

(Footstool dashes through the room chasing a cushion that was obviously once the castle cat. The brooms and mops sweep him out of the room and we go to the den, where Ben and Wolf are seated at a table. Ben is reading to Wolf.)

*Ben: "There never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo."

*Wolf: Could you read it again?

*Ben: Here -- why don't you read it to me?

*Wolf: Uh ... alright. (He takes the book and tries) I can't.

*Ben: ou mean you never learned?

*Wolf: I learned -- a little. It's just been so long.

*Ben: Well, here, I'll help you. Let's start here.

*Wolf: Here. Okay -- "Twoh" -- ?

*Ben: "Two."

*Wolf: "Two." I knew that. "Two households" --

(The camera moves outside the window, where the objects have moved to the

garden and are cleaning up out there while singing.)

*All: ♫We'll be dancing again,♫

♫We'll be twirling again,♫

♫We'll be whirling around with such ease♫

♫When we're human again,♫

♫Only human again♫

♫We'll go waltzing those old one-two-threes♫

♫We'll be floating again,♫

♫We'll be gliding again,♫

♫Stepping, striding as fine as you please♫

♫Like a real human does♫ (Lumiere turns on a fountain)

♫I'll be all that I was♫ (Cogsworth turns on a fountain)

♫On that glorious morn when we're finally reborn♫

♫And we're all of us human again!♫

(Gardrobe bursts out onto the balcony wearing a pink bathing suit and cap. She dives for the pool and all the objects scatter. Gardrobe lands and the water goes everywhere. Cut to int. of bathroom in Wolf's lair. He is in the tub getting washed up for the big night with Ben. Lumiere is there with him.)

*Lumiere: Tonight is the night!

*Wolf: (hesitantly) I'm not sure I can do this.

*Lumiere: You don't have time to be timid. You must be bold, daring.

*Wolf: Bold. Daring. (Wolf has emerged from the tub and shakes himself dry.)

*Lumiere: There will be music. Romantic candlelight, provided myself, and when the time is right, you confess your love.

*Wolf: (Inspired) Yes, I con -- I -- I -- no, I can't.

*Lumiere: You care for the boy, don't you?

*Wolf: More than anything.

*Lumiere: Well then you must tell him. (Coatrack has been cutting Wolf's hair. It finishes and steps back.) Voila. Oh, you look so...so...

(Cut to shot of WOLF in elephan-spikey-tails and Kung Fu Headbends.)

*Wolf: Stupid.

*Lumiere: Not quite the word I was looking for. Perhaps a little more off the top.

(Coatrack begins to cut and chop again. Cogsworth enters.)

*Cogsworth: Ahem ahem ahem. Your mate awaits. Hoo hoo hoo.

(Cut to grand staircase, where Ben descends from the West Wing side in a glittering gold ball cloths. He reaches the landing and looks up at Wolf, who is standing at the top of the stairs in his dress clothes. He is nudged on by Lumiere from behind the curtain, and he descends and meets Ben at the

landing. Arm in arm, they descend the last section of stairs and continue on their way to dinner, stopped momentarily by Footstool. Mrs. Potts sings from her cart with Chip on board.)

*Mrs. Potts: ♫Tale as old as time♫

♫True as it can be♫

♫Barely even friends♫

♫Then somebody bends unexpectedly.♫

♫Just a little change♫

♫Small to say the least♫

♫Both a little scared♫

♫Neither one prepared, beauty and the wolf.♫

(Ben and Wolf have moved into the ballroom, where they move through a computer perfect dance sequence. Wolf occasionally looks over at Lumiere and Cogsworth for their approval. Mrs. Potts and Chip are in the ballroom on their cart.)

*Mrs. Potts: ♫Ever just the same♫

♫Ever a surprise♫

♫Ever as before, ever just as sure♫

♫Tale as old as time♫

♫Tune as old as song♫

♫Bittersweet and strange,♫

♫Finding you can change, learning you were wrong♫

♫Certain as the sun♫

♫Rising in the east♫

♫Tale as old as time,♫

♫Song as old as rhyme, beauty and the wolf.♫

♫Tale as old as time,♫

♫Song as old as rhyme, beauty and the wolf.♫

(To Chip) Off to the cupboard with you now, Chip. It's past

your bedtime. Good night, love.

(Chip slides off the end of the cart, and hops out of the room, but comes back for one last look. Ben and Wolf have adjourned to the balcony under a starry night.)

*Wolf: Ben? Are you happy here with me?

*WOLF: When I was a human, I been transformed into a wolf by a beautiful enchantress. after one winter's night, the old begger woman came to the castle and offered me the single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. But I mistakely sneared at the gift, dont want it and turn her away.

*Ben: (Looks at him desperately) If only I could see my dad again, just for a moment. I miss him so much.
Line 1,491: Line 105:

*Wolf: This mirror will show you anything, anything you wish to see.

*Wolf: This mirror will show you anything, anything you wish to see.

*Ben: (Hesitantly) I'd like to see my dad, please.

*Ben: (Hesitantly) I'd like to see my dad, please.
(The magic Mirror shines into life, and Ben turns his head away as it flashes. Then it reveals Micheal fallen in the woods, coughing and lost. Ben is shocked. Wolf looks at him with concern.)
+
(The magic Mirror shines into life, and Ben turns his head away as it flashes.)

  +
*Mitchel: (Being thrown into the truck.) Ben? (He runs into the house and get the magic mirror.) Let go of me!
*Ben: Dad. Oh, no. He's sick, he may be dying. And he's all alone.

  +
*Ben: (Comes back out with the magic mirror. He yells to the crowd.) My Dad's not crazy and I can prove it! (To the mirror) Show me a wolf! (Magic mirror again shines, then produces the image of the still depressed Wolf appeared a howl. The crowd oohs at it and aahs at the Wolf.)
(Wolf turns, then looks at the rose, deep in thought.)

*Wolf: Then...then you must go to him.

*Ben: What did you say?

*Wolf: I release you. You are no longer my prisoner.

*Ben: (In amazement) You mean...I'm free?

*Wolf: Yes.

*Ben: Oh, thank you. (To Micheal in the magic Mirror) Hold on, Dad. I'm on my way.

(Ben turns to leave, then turns back and return the magic mirror back to Wolf.)

*Wolf: Take it with you, so you'll always have a way to look back, and remember me.

*Ben: Thank you for understanding how much he needs me.

(Ben turns to leave and Wolf looks down in depression. He touches his hand to his cheek and rushes out. We see Ben's pants fly past Cogsworth, who has entered the room.)

*Cogsworth: Well, your highness. I must say everything is going just swimmingly. I knew you had it in you, ha ha!

*Wolf: (Very sad) I let him go.

*Cogsworth: Huh, huh, huh! yes, yes. Splend-- (Cogsworth stops in the middle of his sentence.) You what? How could you do that?

*Wolf: I had to.

*Cogsworth: (Still amazed) Yes, but, but, but but why?

*Wolf: Because, He has to go to his dad. He has to see him again. and, I love him.

(Cut to Cogsworth telling the rest of the objects about Wolf's decision.)

*All (ex. Cogsworth): He did what?!?!

*Cogsworth: Yes, I'm afraid it's true.

*Chip: He's going away?

*Lumiere: But he was so close.

*Mrs. Potts: After all this time, he's finally learned to love.

*Lumiere: That's it, then. That should break the spell.

*Mrs. Potts: But it's not enough. He has to love him in return.

*Cogsworth: And now it's too late.

(Cut to Wolf watching Ben leave from above. He howls in sorrow and anger. His howl turns into the sound of the wind. Ben is out in the snow, calling out "Dad?" Finally, he finds him face down in a snowbank. They return home, where Lefou is still waiting, disguised as a snowman.)

*Lefou: (Shake his head the snow off) Oh, ... they're back. (Head back to Gaston and tell the others)

(Cut to black. POV of Micheal as his eyes open. He sees Ben.)

*Micheal: Ben?

*Ben: Shh ... It's all right, Dad. I'm home.

*Micheal: I thought I'd never see you again. (They hug)

*Ben: I missed you so much.

*Micheal: But the wolf. H-How did you escape?

*Ben: I didn't escape, Dad. He let me go.

*Micheal: That horrible wolf?

*Ben: But he's different now, Dad. He's changed somehow.

(There is sound coming from Ben's pack. The flap opens and the magic mirror falls out with Chip rolling to a stop on it.)

*Chip: Hi.

*Ben: Oh, a stowaway.

*Micheal: Why, hello there, little fella. Didn't think I'd ever see you again.

(Chip turns to Ben with a look of question on his face.)

*Chip: Ben, why'd you go away? Don't you like us anymore?

*Ben: Oh, Chip. Of course I do. It's just that--

(There is a knocking at the door. Ben opens it and Sir D'Arque stands on the porch.)

*Ben: May I help you?

*D'Arque: I've come to collect your father.

*Ben: My dad?

*D'Arque: Don't worry, young man. We'll take good care of him. (He steps aside to show the Police Truck car behind him.)

*Ben: My Dad's not crazy.

*Lefou: (Emerging from the crowd) He was raving like a lunatic. We all heard him, didn't we!

*Bystanders: Yeah!

*Ben: No, I won't let you.

(Micheal has emerged from the home.)

*Micheal: Ben?

*Lefou: Micheal. Tell us again, man, just how big was the wolf?

*Micheal: (Struggling) Well, he was...that is...huge. I'd say at least eight, no more like ten feet. (Crowd laughs at him.)

*Lefou: Well, you don't get much crazier than that.

*Micheal: It's true, I tell you!

(D'Arque waves his arms and cops move in and pick up Micheal.)

*Lefou: Get him outta here!

*Micheal: Let go of me!

(Gaston has been watching from the sides, standing near D'Arque.)

*Ben: (To D'Arque.) No, you can't do this! (D'Arque shakes him off and walks away.)

*Gaston: Tsk, tsk, tsk. Poor Ben. It's a shame about your father.

*Ben: You know he's not crazy, Gaston.

*Gaston: I might be able to clear up this little misunderstanding, if...

*Ben: If what?

*Gaston: If you be my bait.

*Ben: What?

*Gaston: One little word, Ben. That's all it takes.

*Ben: Never.

*Gaston: Have it your way. (Turns and walks away slowly, playing hard to get.)

*Micheal: (Being thrown into the truck.) Ben? (He runs into the house and get the magic mirror.) Let go of me!

*Ben: (Comes back out with the magic mirror. He yells to the crowd.) My Dad's not crazy and I can prove it! (To the mirror) Show me a wolf! (Magic mirror again shines, then produces the image of the still depressed Wolf. The crowd oohs at it and aahs at the Wolf.)

*Woman 1: Is it dangerous?

*Woman 1: Is it dangerous?

*Ben: (Trying to reassure her) Oh, no, no, He'd never hurt anyone. Please, I know he looks vicious, but he's really kind and gentle. He's my uncle. And my dad's brother. My dad and I missed him. And now I found him. We didn't reconized him but I do with his eyes. He's been turned into a wolf by a beautiful enchantress he told me.

*Gaston: If I didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for this monster.

*Gaston: If I didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for this monster.

*Ben: He's no monster, Gaston. You are!

*Ben: He's no monster, Gaston. You are!
*Gaston: He's as crazy as a man. (He grabs the mirror from his hand.) The wolf will make off with your children! He'll come after them in the night.
+
*Gaston: He's as crazy as a man. (He grabs the mirror from his hand.)
*Ben: No!

*Gaston: We're not safe 'til his head is mounted on my wall! I say we kill the wolf!

(Mob cheers him and repeats the words 'kill him'.)

*Man 1: ♫We're not safe until he's dead,♫

*Man 2: ♫He'll come stalking us at night!♫

*Woman 1: ♫Set to sacrifice our children to his vermin appetite!♫

*Man 3: ♫He'll wreak havoc on our village If we let him wander free♫

*Gaston: ♫So it's time to take some action, boys♫

♫It's time to follow me!♫

(Gaston throws a torch into a haystack, creating an instant bonfire. He begins to prance around it, warning of the dangers of the horrible Wolf.)

♫Through the mist, through the woods♫

♫Through the darkness and the shadows♫

♫It's a nightmare but it's one exciting ride.♫

♫Say a prayer, then we're there♫

♫At the drawbridge of a castle,♫

♫And there's something truly terrible inside.♫

(Gaston chases Lefou around, mimicking a animal.)

♫It's a wolf,♫

♫He's got fangs, razor sharp ones♫

♫Massive paws,♫

♫Killer claws for the feast♫

(Magic mirror shows the face of Wolf to Lefou, which Gaston exaggerates about.)

♫Hear him howl, see him fowl,♫

♫But we're not coming home,♫

♫'Til he's dead, good and dead, kill the wolf!♫

*Ben: (Interjecting) No, I won't let you do this.

*Gaston: If you're not with us, you're against us. Bring the man.

*Micheal: Get your hands off me!

(Gaston throws them into the basement and bolts the door.)

*Gaston: We can't have them running off to warn the vermin!

*Ben: Let us out!

*Gaston: (To the crowds) We'll rid the town of this wolf. Who's wit me?

(A chorus of "I am"s comes from the crowds)

*Mob: ♫Light your torch, mount your horse!♫

*Gaston: ♫Screw your courage to the sticking place♫

*Mob: ♫We're counting on Gaston to lead the way!♫

♫Through a mist, to a wood,♫

♫Where within a haunted castle,♫

♫Something's lurking that you don't see every day!♫

(Gaston gets on his motorcycle and leads the mob through the town and out into the forest, where they start chopping trees in preparation for their assault on the castle.)

♫It's a wolf,♫

♫One as tall as a mountain!♫

♫We won't rest♫

♫'Til he's good and deceased!♫

♫Sally forth, tally ho,♫

♫Grab your sword, grab your bow♫

♫Praise the Lord and here we go!♫

Gaston: We'll lay siege to his castle and bring back his head!

(Cut to int of basement, where Ben is prying at the window with a stick.)

*Ben: I have to warn Uncle Adam. This is all my fault. Oh, Dad. What are we going to do?

*Micheal: (Comforting her) Calm down. We'll think of something.

(We see Chip looking in through the window. He turns around, thinking, and then he sees Micheal's contraption with the axe on the end of it.)

*Mob: ♫We don't like, what we don't♫

♫Understand, it frankly scares us♫

♫And this vermin is mysterious at least!♫

♫Bring your guns, bring your knives,♫

♫Save your children and your wives,♫

♫We'll save our village and our lives,♫

♫We'll kill the wolf!♫

*Cogsworth: I knew it, I knew it was foolish to get our hopes up.

*Lumiere: Maybe it would have been better if he had never come at all.

(Footstool comes in barking. They rush over to the window expecting the return

of Ben.)

*Lumiere: Could it be?

*Mrs. Potts: Is it he?

*Lumiere: (Realizing the mob is not Ben) Soccer blue, invaders!

*Cogsworth: Encroachers!

*Mrs. Potts: (Seeing Gaston) And they have the mirror!

*Cogsworth: (Issuing orders) Warn the master. (The rest of the objects leave Cogsworth behind.) If it's a fight they want, we'll be ready for them. Who's with me? (The door is slammed and Cogsworth turns around from window) Aahh!

*Gaston: Take whatever booty you can find, but remember, the wolf is mine!

(Cut to stairway, where objects are marching down to do battle with the mob.)

*Objects: ♫Hearts ablaze, banners high!♫

♫We go marching into battle,♫

♫Unafraid, although the danger just increased!♫

*Mob: ♫Raise the flag, sing the song♫

♫Here we come, we're fifty strong♫

♫And fifty Frenchmen can't be wrong,♫

♫Let's kill the wolf!♫

(Cut to int of Wolf's lair, where Mrs. Potts is briefing him.)

*Mrs. Potts: Pardon me, master.

*Wolf: Leave me in peace.

*Mrs. Potts: But sir, the castle is under attack!

*Mob: ♫Kill the wolf,♫ ♫kill the wolf!♫

(The objects have tried to block off the door, but it is being bashed in by the

mob.)

*Lumiere: This isn't working!

*Plumette: Oh, Lumiere! We must do something!

*Lumiere: Wait! I know!

*Mob: ♫Kill the wolf,♫ ♫kill the wolf!♫

(Cut to Wolf's lair)

*Mrs. Potts: What shall we do, master?

*Wolf: (Still very sad) It doesn't matter now. Just let them come.

*Mob: ♫Kill the wolf,♫ ♫kill the wolf,♫ ♫kill the wolf!!♫

(The mob succeeds in breaking in, and finds a grand entrance filled with assorted pieces of furniture, teacups, candlesticks, featherdusters and clocks. They tiptoe in, and Lefou unknowingly picks up Lumiere.)

*Lumiere: Now!!!

(All the objects spring into life, attacking their human enemies. Cut back to Ben's home, where Chip has readied the invention.)

*Chip: (After blowing on some hot coals) Yes! (He jumps up and pulls a cord which sets the machine in action.) Here we go!Here we go!

(Micheal looks out from the window and sees the advancing axe.)

*Micheal: What the heck? Ben, look out!

(The invention crashes into the door, and a red cloud of smoke poofs out of the basement. Ben and Micheal emerge from the wreckage to find CHIP swinging on a loose spring.)

*Chip: You guys gotta try this thing.

(Cut back to the castle, where the fight between objects and mobis still in full-swing. Beer steins fling tomatoes at one of the mob. He is about to hit

*them with his shovel, when he hears a voice from above.)

*Mrs. Potts: Up here, ya scurvy scum! (When he looks up) Now! (Mrs. Potts and all the cups pour boiling tea on his head.)

(Gardrobe jumps from the top of the stairs, landing on one of the mob. Cut to Gaston as he kicks open a door and readies his arrow, looking for Wolf. He doesn't find him and moves on. Back downstairs, Gardrobe is fighting several more of the mob in her own kung-fu style. A comb and brush hop out and attack one of the mob, pulling him into Gardrobe. When he emerges, he's dressed in a

bikini top, yellow tu-tu, high heels, gloves and a pearl necklace ... and his hair's done up a la Marge Simpson. Cut to Lefou, who is almost melting Lumiere with a torch. Cogsworth appears at the top of the stairs brandishing a gun and a pair of scissors. He's dressed like an admiral. He sees what's going on and slides down the bannister, poking Lefou in the butt with the scissors. Lefou yells. Cut to Ben and Micheal, and Chip riding Phillipe back towards the castle. Cut back to the castle, where Tom is pulling feathers out of Plumette and laughing. Lumiere hops up behind him and flares up his candlesticks, burning the mob-ster's butt. When he jumps, Lumiere catches Plumette. Cut to Lefou, Tom and Stanley chasing Footstool. He runs into the kitchen. Thinking they've got him cornered against the cupboards, the mob laughs and advances, only to find that the knives pop out of the drawers and the stove flares up. They run screaming from the castle and the objects all cheer.)

*Cogsworth: And stay out!

(Lumiere pulls over Cogsworth and kisses him once on each cheek. Cogsworth shakes it off. Cut to Gaston, who finds Wolf's lair. He raises his bow and takes aim. Wolf looks up at him, then looks back down in sadness again. Gaston releases the arrow and it strikes Wolf in the shoulder. He grunts in

pain and stands. Gaston rushes him and they fly out the window onto the balcony, where it has begun to rain.)

*Gastone: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

(Gaston kicks Wolf off the balcony and he rolls down the roof. Gaston jumps over the railing and follows. After kicking him a few times, Gaston has Wolf cornered on the edge of the roof. Wolf simply sits there, looking depressed.)

*Gaston: Get up! Get up! What's the matter, Wolf? (He laughs, in a very unpleasant way) Too kind and gentle to fight back?

(Wolf looks down ignoring him. Gaston walks into the foreground and breaks off a piece of the roof. He is about to smash it on Wolf's head when Ben's voice drifts up. He is on the bridge and is yelling to Gaston, telling him to stop.)

*Ben: No!

*Wolf: (Hearing him voice and giving him new life) Ben.

*Ben: No! Gaston, don't!

(Gaston swings down at Wolf, but he catches the weapon in his hand. Wolf

rises up and growls in Gaston's face. Gaston starts to look frightened.)

*Ben: Let's go, Phillipe! (They ride into the castle.)

(On the rooftop, Wolf and Gaston are still fighting, with Wolf pushing Gaston off parts of the roof. Ben runs up through the castle. Gaston chases Wolf and Gaston smashes one of the gargoyles on the roof, thinking it's Wolf. He looks up and realises Wolf has taken shelter somewhere among the gargoyles.)

*Gaston: Come on out and fight! Were you his lost uncle, Wolf? Did you honestly think he'd want you when he had someone like me?

(Wolf has been provoked enough. He emerges and they fight again.)

*Gaston: It's over, wolf! Ben is mine!

(This time, however, Wolf picks up Gaston by the neck and holds him out over

the edge of the roof. Gaston pleads with Wolf)

*Gaston: Put me down. Put me down. Please, don't hurt me! I'll do anything! Anything!

(Wolf's anger slowly melts off his face, and the look of compassion returns. He pulls Gaston back onto the roof.)

*Wolf: Get out.

(He shoves Gaston to the ground. Above, Ben comes out on a balcony.)

*Ben: Uncle Adam!

*Wolf: Ben!

(Wolf begins to climb the tower (very much like King Kong) until he reaches the balcony. He hangs over the side.)

*Wolf: Ben? You came back!

(Wolf and Ben stare passionately at each other, but the moment is interrupted when Gaston sneaks up and about to stabs Wolf in the back. Wolf grunts in pain, and Ben is helpless. Gaston pulls the knife back and swings back for another shot. Wolf starts to fall, knocking Gaston off his balance. Benreaches forward and pulls Wolf back, while Gaston falls off never to be seen again. Ben helps Wolf up onto the balcony, where he collapses on the floor. The objects come rushing out, but stay out of sight.)

*Wolf: You came back.

*Ben: Of course I came back. I couldn't let them...Oh this is all my fault. If only I'd gotten here sooner.

*Wolf: Maybe it's better...it's better this way.

*Ben: Don't talk like that. You'll be all right. We're together now. Everything's going to be fine. You'll see.

*Wolf: At least I got to see you one... last...time.

(Ben pulls Wolf's paw up to her cheek. He holds it there for a second, then drops it. His head falls back, and his eyes close. Ben drops the paw and puts his hands to his mouth. He can't believe this has happened.)

*Ben: (Crying) No, no! Please! Please! Please don't leave me! I love you!

(Cut to objects, who watch the last petal fall off the rose. They all bow down thier heads, and Cogsworth puts his arm around Mrs. Potts. Cut back to Ben and Wolf. The rain continues to fall. But one beam of light falls, like a shooting star. Then another comes. And another, and another. Ben finally notices what is happening. He stops crying for a second, then starts to back away. We cut A fog begins to enshroud Wolf. We see the objects looking on in extreme anticipation. Wolf rises up into the air magically and begins to turn. He is enveloped in a cloud of light, and becomes wrapped in his coat. Underneath, we can see Wolf's body shifting and forming. A fore paw comes out and the claws turn into fingers. A hind paw emerges and develops into a foot. Finally, a wind blows across his face and the fur melts away to reveal Adam. He gradually descends and is laid on the floor again. The fog disappears and Ben reaches out to touch him. He jerks his hand back, however, when the figure begins to move. He stands, then looks at his hands, then turns to face Ben. He is a human, with the same blue eyes as Wolf. It is obviously Wolf, transformed. Ben gives him a mysterious look.)

*Adam: Ben! It's me!

(He continues to look at him skeptically, but then she sees the blue eyes, and instantly knows it is him.)

*Ben: It is you!

(They kiss. A fireworks display explodes around them. The gloom surrounding the castle disappears, revealing a blue sky. The castle is transformed, with the gargoyles changing into cherubs. Finally, we return to the balcony, where the objects hop out to meet Adam and Ben. One by one, they are

transformed back to their original human conditions.)

*Adam: Lumiere! Cogsworth! Oh, Mrs. Potts! Look at us!

(Chip comes riding in on Footstool.)

*Chip: Mom! Mom! (The pair transforms back into a boy and dog.)

*Mrs. Potts: (Picking up her boy) Oh my gosh!

*Lumiere: It is a miracle!

(Adam picks up Ben and swings him around. The yellow jeans of his pants wipe to the ballroom, where all are gathered to celebrate. Adam sees Micheal, They run towards each other and they reunited together in joy.)

Plot

At the Town, Adam runs away from home and his brother Mitchel. He walked all the way in the woods, He saw the castle for his better home. And in Christmas morning, An enchantress, disguised as an old beggar, offers an enchanted rose to a young prince in exchange for shelter in his castle from the bitter cold, but he refuses.

Voice cast

  • Ty Simpkins as Ben – A bibliophilic and wonderful 13 year old young boy who seeks adventure, and offers his own freedom to the wolf in return for his father's. In their effort to enhance the character from the original story, the filmmakers felt that Ben should be "unaware" of his own beauty and made him "a little odd." Wise recalls casting Simpkins because of a "unique tone" he had, "a little bit of Belle," after whose appearance Ben was modeled.
  • Hayden Christensen as A Wolf/Adam – A young man who is transformed into a wolf by a beautiful enchantress as punishment for his arrogance. He is from the character of a Wolf (by Zack King as a wolf escapes from the jail) in Zootopia. He has ice blue eyes of Larry (the grey wolf guard), And the tail and gray fur and white muzzle of Officer Tim Wolford. The Wolf was based on the wolf characters in Zootopia.
  • Huge Jackman as Gaston – A vain hunter who vies for Ben's hand in protectiv and is determined not to let anyone else win his heart. Jackman's voice is from a character of Charlie Kenton in Real Steel. In the beginning, Gaston is depicted as more of a narcissist than a villain, but later he leads all the villagers to kill the wolf, enraged that Ben would love a Wolf more than him.
  • Jason Bateman as Lumiere – The kind-hearted but rebellious maître d'hôtel of the Wolf's castle, who has been transformed into a candlestick. He has a habit of disobeying his master's strict rules, sometimes causing tension between them, but the Wolf often turns to him for advice. He is depicted as flirtatious, as he is frequently seen with the Featherduster and immediately takes a liking to Ben. A running gag throughout the movie is Lumière burning Cogsworth.
  • Jack Black as Cogsworth – The head of the household staff and Lumière's best friend, who has been transformed into a clock. He is extremely loyal to the Wolf so as to save himself and anyone else any trouble, often leading to friction between himself and Lumière.
  • Ginnifer Goodwin as Plumette – A maid and Lumière's sweetheart, who has been turned into a feather duster. She is unnamed in the 1991 film (listed as Featherduster in the credits); Babette is the name given to this character later in the 1994 stage adaptation of the film, and Fifi in 1998's Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World. and Plumette in the 2017 live-action remake.
  • Katie Lowes as Mrs. Potts – The castle cook, turned into a teapot, who takes a motherly attitude toward Ben.
  • Noel Fisher as Le Fou – Gaston's often abused yet loyal sidekick.
  • Chad Lindberg as Mitchel – Ben's inventor father. and Adam's yonger brother. The citizens call him crazy, but his loyal son believes he will be famous one day.
  • Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate as the Bimbettes – A trio of village maidens who constantly fawn over Gaston, known as the "Silly Girls" in the stage adaptation.
  • Kristen Wiig as Garderobe – The castle's authority over fashion, and a former opera singer, who has been turned into a wardrobe. The character of Wardrobe was introduced by visual development person Sue C. Nichols to the then entirely male cast of servants, and was originally a more integral character named "Madame Armoire." Wardrobe is known as "Madame de la Grande Bouche" (Madame Big Mouth) in the stage adaptation of the film, and is the only major enchanted object character we do not see the human form of in the film.
  • Hattie Morahan as Agathe – A beautiful enchantress was disguise as a old begger woman, melted away to revield herself and she transformed Adam into a wolf.
  • Will Arnett as the Stove – The castle's chef who has been transformed into a stove.
  • Matthew Broderick as the Bookseller – The owner of a book shop in Ben's home town.
  • J. K. Simmons as Monsieur D'Arque – The sadistic warden of the Asylum de Loons. Gaston bribes him to help in his plan to blackmail Ben.
  • Noah Schnapp as Chip – Mr. and Mrs. Potts' son, who has been turned into a teacup.
  • Fred Tatiscore as Baker – The owner of a bakery in Ben's home town.

  • Mitchel: What about that Gaston? He's a handsome fellow!
  • Ben: He's handsome all right, and rude and conceited and...Oh Dad, he's not for me!
  • Mitchel: Well, don't you worry, cause this invention's going to be the start of a new life for us. (Comes out from under machine) I think that's done it. Now, let's give it a try. (Machine whirs and chops wood, just as it should)

  • Ben: Uncle Adam? (look into Wolf's eyes, pause for realization, finally found him) Uncle Adam. (hugs Wolf along with him) I missed you. I almost find you anywhere.
  • Wolf: I missed you two. I accidentally forgot you. Even locked your dad in the dungeon and scared you out of the west wing for touching my rose.
  • Ben: It's okay. This isn't your fault. What happened?
  • Wolf: When I was a human, I been transformed into a wolf by a beautiful enchantress. after one winter's night, the old begger woman came to the castle and offered me the single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. But I mistakenly sneered at the gift, don't want it and turn her away.

And now I found him. We didn't reconized him but I do with his eyes. He's been turned into a wolf by a beautiful enchantress he told me.

  • Mitchel: It's so good to have you back.
  • Adam: Thanks. (He's come back to his wife)

(Mitchel is next to his wife. Ben watches them. And he saw a beautiful girl.)

(Ben and the girl dance around the room as the rest of the characters get in their last lines.)

  • Lumiere: Ah, lover. (He says this, and a maid, obviously the former Plumette walks by, brushing him on the chin.) Heh heh! (He starts to chase after her, but Cogsworth stops him.)
  • Cogsworth: Well, Lumiere, good friend. (Shook Lumiere's hand) Shall we let bygones be bygones?
  • Lumiere: Of course, my buddy. I told you he would break the spell.
  • Cogsworth: I beg your pardon, good friend, (Patting his back) but I believe I told you.
  • Lumiere: No you didn't. (Pinched Cogsworth's cheek) I told you.
  • Cogsworth: You most certainly did not, you pompous parrafin-headed pea-brain!
  • Lumiere: En guarde, you, you overgrown pocket watch! (He takes off his glove and slaps Cogsworth across the face with it.)
  • Cogsworth: Take that! (They begin to fight.) Stop shoving (Cut to Ben and the Girl who continue to dance around the floor. The camera stops on Mr. And Mrs. Potts, Chip Adam, Adam's wife, Mitchel's wife and Mitchel, who is beginning to cry.)
  • Chip: Are they gonna live happily ever after, mom?
  • Mrs. Potts: Of course, honey. Of course.
  • Chip: (Looks happy for a moment, then puzzled.) Do I still have to sleep in the cupboard?

(Mitchel laughs and Mrs. Potts hugs her child and laughs. Cut to a camera looking over the entire ballroom with all in the shot. It slowly zooms out with Ben and the Girl dancing around the room, and fades into the final stained glass window, this one with Ben and the girl in the center, surrounded by the rest of the characters.)
