Attack on Elmore (2019)

Attack on Elmore is a 2019 CGI/2D theatrical movie based off of the show The Amazing World of Gumball. The film was first released on June 8, 2019 in the United States.

The movie received 693 trillion USD in the budget and 134.7 trillion USD in the box office, marking it as one of the most popular movies of 2019.

Production

2016

In 2016, LeapFrog came up with an idea for a movie based off of the Cartoon Network television show The Amazing World of Gumball to celebrate its fifth anniversary.

Just a few weeks after Ben Bocquelet announced he would be leaving production after season 6 of the show ended, he requested to become the producer for the film. Unfortunately, he stated that he would be a one-time producer for the production for the movie, meaning that if sequels come out after the first film, he wouldn't be part of the production as he states he decides to move on from Gumball.

2017 - June 4, 2019

Full production on the movie began on May 3, 2017 and ended on June 4, 2019.

Pre-production stage (preparations) lasted from May 3, 2017 to January 25, 2018.

Middle production stage (filming green screen videos of Damian [part of film]) lasted from February 11, 2018 to August 9, 2018.

Post-production stage (editing/animating) lasted from August 10, 2018 to June 4, 2019.

Working titles

The Amazing World of Gumball Movie (May 3, 2017 - January 5, 2018)

Gumball's Five-O (January 6, 2018 - January 15, 2018)

Elmore (January 16, 2018 - January 24, 2018)

Present day title

Attack on Elmore (January 25, 2018 -)

Description

Elmore just got real.

Elmore is in danger! Oh, the inhumane... can the city be saved? I don't know, you watch it yourself and find out yourself. Not trying to be mean, but you know... heh.

Unrated on Elmore (2019)

Unrated on Elmore is a scrapped film that was originally going to be a rated-R version of the 2019 Attack on Elmore film.

Strangely, zero trailers, zero promos and zero advertising came up publicly about the film whatsoever, meaning the movie was released unexpectedly.

The movie was set to release on November 3, 2019, but after only a few hours of the movie's release, it was permanently pulled from being shown because it might unsettle fans of TAWOG harder than the original film.

Viewers were confused on the movie and the production companies responded with an apology.

Attack on Elmore 2: Glitchiness (2020)

Attack on Elmore 2: Glitchiness is a 2020 CGI/2D/3D movie based off of the show The Amazing World of Gumball. The film was first released into theaters on July 15, 2020 and first released onto streaming services on July 22, 2020.

The movie is marked to be the sequel to the original Attack on Elmore film, which was released on June 8, 2019.

This sequel was originally meant to be the finale for the Attack on Elmore film franchise, since that interest on The Amazing World of Gumball was disbanded, however in May 2021, interest revived and soon after, production on the threequel began and took two months to complete.

Due to issues with various movie theater film reels and the poor reception of Attack on Elmore 2, the movie was pulled from being shown in theaters on July 18, 2020 (two days after being theatrically released) and was instead released onto streaming services such as Hulu, including onto DVD and Blu-ray.

Production

Late 2019

In October 2019, Damian Marin (actor from OG AoE movie) liked the Attack on Elmore movie once he watched it, in which he pitched an idea for a sequel to the production companies behind it.

On November 8, 2019, LeapFrog announced a possible sequel on the original Attack on Elmore film, and just a few hours later, Ben Bocquelet quit production on the film franchise.

December 2019 - July 2020

Full production on the movie began on December 22, 2019 and ended on July 9, 2020.

Pre-production stage (preparations) lasted from December 22, 2019 to January 5, 2020.

Middle production stage (filming green screen videos of Damian [part of film]) lasted from January 12, 2020 to March 20, 2020.

Attack on Elmore 3D (2021)

Attack on Elmore 3D is a 2021 CGI/2D/3D movie, being based off of the show The Amazing World of Gumball. The film was first released into movie theaters and streaming services on July 10, 2021.

The movie is marked to be the threequel to the original Attack on Elmore film, which was released on June 8, 2019, and the successor to the movie's sequel, being released on July 15, 2020.

In movie theaters, the only format the movie can be shown in is 3D, hence the film's name. However, it only shows in 2D on streaming services.

On streaming services, including copies on DVD and Blu-ray, they contain an extended cut version of the movie, which contains deleted scenes, blood (bloody violence), stronger language (more usage of f-bomb), among other content that creates an unsuitability for teens under 18.

Additionally, the movie was originally going to have an R rating before the extended cut existed.

Attack on Elmore: The Piranhas (2019)

Attack on Elmore: The Piranhas is a 2019 2D/3D/CGI short film, officially released onto theaters and streaming services on June 13, 2019.

Production

Production on the short film started on March 18, 2019 and ended on May 30, 2019.

Plot

The short film started with the Wattersons' house and it cuts to inside. Nicole kindly asks Richard to watch Anais while Gumball, Darwin and her are going to the beach. Richard says that he will watch her while they are gone.

Nicole, Gumball and Darwin zoom into their car and go to the beach. They park their car at the parking lot near the ocean and get out. Nicole relaxes while Gumball and Darwin go in the water.

The piranhas are seen breaking the gates open using their teeth and they all escape and are swimming into the ocean that Nicole's brothers are in.

Real life people and Elmore characters are seen floating and swimming as the piranhas eat the people and characters. Gumball screams and Nicole helps Gumball out. It was revealed that he was almost eaten by the piranhas and blood is shown on his tail and leg. Nicole tries to help Darwin, but Darwin is pushed into the water by the piranhas and they eat Darwin because they thought Darwin was food. Blood is shown on his legs, tail and face. Darwin was completely eaten.

Nicole and Gumball were home and upset and worried about Darwin. There was a knock on the door and Richard answered it. The doctor told Richard about Darwin. He said that Darwin was eaten several times that emergency services had to be called. The doctors brought Darwin in and showed the whole family what Darwin looked like. His legs were skeleton legs and his feet were ripped off, but no blood is shown. Darwin is still alive, but he also has bruises and his face was about half ripped off. The family started sobbing as they grabbed Darwin and put him on Gumball and Richard's lap.

It cut to the Elmore Hospital as Darwin's heart rate was slowly becoming flat, meaning that Darwin is slowly dying. The heart monitor became flat and the family was crying hard as they hug Darwin. The screen then fades out and shows the ocean. Overture 1812 plays in the background as a big bomb hits the ocean and explodes, killing almost all the piranhas. The explosion comes towards the camera as the scene glitches out to static and color bars and the ending theme for TAWOG is played distortedly, before the scene cuts to white with Darwin, alive, staring at the camera.

Darwin then explains that he is still alive and tries to comfort some viewers who might be scared and worried of his death, before the scene cuts to black, ending the short film.

Television

Attack on Elmore on TV (2019 - 2020)

Attack on Elmore on TV is a Leapian-American 2D/3D/CGI television series, created by Damian Marin with partnerships such as LeapFrog, Warner Bros. Television and Legendary Television.

The show consists of only 2 seasons with 50 episodes in total (30 for S1, 20 for S2).

The show lasted from October 31, 2019 to November 16, 2020.

Accordingly, it was known that the series (in entirety) didn't perform and present well. The show's ratings were about a bit below from a 3 out of 5, and IT being a parodic show of TAWOG felt pointless to many people.

Trivia

  • Attack on Elmore's media franchise has been criticized by many TAWOG fans, including the formerly low ratings on Attack on Elmore's sequel, stating that the films almost make them cry and technically grief with the violence against their favorite TAWOG characters, in which the characters are still alive in the film series. The production companies state that none of the characters are dead or injured in the aftermath of these movies and that they apologize for the inconvenience.
    • Attack on Elmore's media franchise, however, has fortunately received more good ratings and review than the horrendous comments. The good reviews and ratings create commentary about how the franchise's movies and short films are excellent in quality, as well as with the amazing perspective of how viewers can visualize the show the films are based off of in various imaginable ways, but sad to watch with various TAWOG characters dying or getting injured, but happy that the characters would continue to stay alive.
      • In conclusion, the results/ratings (Google audience ratings) are:
        1. Attack on Elmore (2019) Rating: 3.4/5 (2019) | 4.2/5 (2020) | 4.3/5 (2021)
        2. Attack on Elmore: The Piranhas (2019) Rating: 2.8/5 (2019) | 3.9/5 (2020) | 3.1/5 (2021)
        3. Attack on Elmore on TV (2019 - 2020) Rating: 3.6/5 (2019) | 3.5/5 (2020) | 2.9/5 (2021)
        4. Attack on Elmore 2: Glitchiness (2020) Rating: 2.7/5 (July 15 - July 17, 2020) | 4.0/5 (July 18, 2020 - onwards) | 4.6/5 (2021)
        5. Attack on Elmore 3D (2021) Rating: 4.8/5 (2021)
      • Attack on Elmore on TV is the #1 most lowest rated media in the film franchise, with Attack on Elmore: The Piranhas being the second most lowest rated media in the film franchise, as of 2021.
        • Attack on Elmore 3D is the #1 most highest rated film in the franchise, with Attack on Elmore 2: Glitchiness being the second most highest rated film in the franchise, and lastly with Attack on Elmore being third in the most highest film in the franchise, as of 2021.
  • A reason why Attack on Elmore films and the franchise are created is so that viewers can visualize The Amazing World of Gumball in a mature and adult-themed way.
