Aoki Shijima is Kami's third heartbreaker and the leader of the Biology Club.
Personality[]
- ❝ Aoki Shijima is the leader of the academy's biology club. Her passion for the living world and genuine kindness illuminate everything around her. Nothing pleases her more than sharing the wonders of nature and seeing others' faces light up with wonder and the joy of discovery.
Aoki won't be at the academy for the first week of gameplay—she's helping out at the local animal shelter. She meets Senpai when, looking out the window on a rainy day, he accidentally sees her carefully carrying a box containing a found kitten, covering it with her jacket. This image deeply touches him in a moment of sadness. Later, when he visits the shelter himself to learn the kitten's fate, she greets him with the sunniest smile and tells him a whole story about each animal, as if they were her old friends. In this moment of loneliness, she becomes a breath of pure, selfless warmth for him.
With her open heart and ability to find the light even on a cloudy day, Senpai can easily develop trust and affection for her in just a week. And if no one stands in her way, his heart will melt under the rays of her kindness, and he will feel like he's found a kindred spirit. Remember: the way to a person's heart is through sincere attention and kindness.❞
- ―Description on the official website.
According to the game's classification, Aoki Shijima is a trusting soul. If she witnesses a murder, her first reaction isn't flight, but shock and incomprehension. She might freeze in place, unable to believe her eyes, before realizing the danger. Then, instead of running to Senpai, she'll instinctively rush to the nearest adult (a teacher or security guard) or, in a panic, try to help the victim, unaware that they're already dead. This gives the player a little more time to react, but makes her a dangerous witness if left unchecked. If Aoki witnesses Kami commit murder, she won't scream accusations, but will ask, eyes wide with horror, "Why...?", which might attract attention if other NPCs are nearby. If Kami points a phone camera at her, Aoki won't pose for a photo—she'll laugh sheepishly or ask why, but overall remains friendly.
In mission mode, Aoki is a source of calm. If she witnesses a murder or discovers a corpse, she won't scream. She'll turn pale, cover her mouth, and quietly but quickly leave to call the police from a safe distance. When Kami approaches, she'll retreat and tremble, but if she witnesses a second murder, she'll fall into a stupor, wandering aimlessly around the school in shock.
Overall, Aoki is portrayed as a sunny and compassionate person whose life revolves around wildlife and the biology club. Despite her gentle nature, she's not weak—she'll stand up for an animal or someone being bullied, and in conversations with loved ones, she expresses concerns about the cruelty of some experiments or the irresponsible attitude toward nature. However, she rarely expresses her doubts publicly, preferring to lead by example and kindness. Despite her confidence in her work, Aoki can be shy in private situations, such as when discussing her feelings.
As a teenager, Aoki was less focused and more impulsive. Her shameful secret is that at 13, while defending a stray cat, she secretly slipped a grass snake she'd found into the bully's backpack, causing a commotion in class. She later bragged about this in an online chat, believing she'd taught the bully a lesson. Back then, she would spend hours playing nature video games, neglecting her studies, but later realized the real world was more interesting and traded virtual achievements for real-world research.
Now, Aoki is mature and driven, completely devoted to biology and the care of living things. She spends her first week helping at the animal shelter, putting the well-being of the creatures above all else—for example, refusing to use even necessary chemicals in research if they could harm her charges. Most of her thoughts are positive and centered on discoveries, animals, or plants.
Aoki adores life in all its forms and cannot imagine herself without studying nature. In her words, "the world is one big, amazing laboratory." The only professions she would consider besides biology would be veterinarian or ecologist. However, she has other hobbies tangentially related to her passion: for example, blogging about urban flora and fauna, where she has a modest but devoted audience. Her subscriber count could plummet if Ayano publicly embarrasses her or if there's a scandal on Friday.
Because she's so immersed in her studies and club, Aoki has never been in a relationship and sometimes feels sad that no one shares her love for life. She longs for someone as attentive to the world as she is, and falls in love with Senpai precisely when she sees a kindred spirit in him. Although she's inexperienced in romance, she acts sincerely and openly, emphasizing not courtship but a desire to share her world. She's not afraid to appear naive or overly enthusiastic. If she confessed, she would say she wants to walk through life together, discovering its ever-new wonders.
Task[]
- ❝ Um, I'm afraid to say this, of course... but my woodlice have escaped!! Could you find them? They're in the club's utility room. They're completely harmless! If you find them, put them in the aquarium on the table to the right. Thank you!!❞
- ―Aoki
To complete Aoki Shijima's quest, go to the biology club's utility room on the first floor to find her woodlice test subjects.
Daily schedule[]
Monday[]
7:15 AM: Arrives at school. She walks purposefully through the central courtyard, where Senpai (Tooru) usually changes shoes at his shoe rack. She slows down, pretends to adjust her bow, and catches his eye to give her a shy smile and a quiet "Good morning."
7:20 AM - 7:55 AM: Greenhouse. While watering, she keeps glancing toward the path he must take to enter the building.
8:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Classes in 3-1.
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch in the greenhouse. She deliberately leaves the door ajar.
12:40 PM: The planned "chance" encounter. She knows Senpai is leaving the gym at this time. She goes out to "get some fresh air" with an apple in her hand. When she sees him, she says, "Oh, hi! It seems like you need a lot of energy after working out... would you like an apple? It's really juicy!" and offers him the fruit, insistently but sweetly.
1:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Homework.
3:35 PM - 5:00 PM: Biology Club. Today, she deliberately leaves her notebook with beautiful sketches of plants on the table by the window, knowing that Senpai passes by on his way to the library.
5:00 PM - 5:20 PM: Plant tour. Her route partially overlaps Senpai's to the exit. She "forgets" her gloves on the bench by the fountain, hoping he'll notice and return them.
5:20 PM: Leaves, glancing back to make sure he's not following.
Tuesday[]
7:15 AM: Arrives a little early so she can "accidentally" be at the entrance at the same time as Senpai. She starts a conversation about yesterday's biology homework and asks for his opinion (though she doesn't need it).
7:20 AM - 7:55 AM: In the greenhouse. Preparing a small "experiment" – sprouting seeds in a cute little jar. Plans to show him later as "something interesting."
8:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Homework.
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch. She's already waiting for him by the fountain with two homemade cookies. "I baked them using honey instead of sugar. They're healthier! Want to check them out? It's my little culinary biology experiment."
1:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Homework.
3:35 PM - 5:00 PM: Club. Today, "photosynthesis research" is outside. She chooses a spot for the "experiments" in plain sight, right next to the path to the sports fields, where he goes for extracurricular activities.
5:00 PM - 5:20 PM: Rounds. Loudly admires the flower by his classroom window as he packs his things.
5:20 PM: Leaves, offering to "keep him company" until he leaves if he's finished too.
Wednesday[]
7:15 AM: Greets him with a worried expression. "Toru-kun, are you looking okay? I thought you seemed a little tired yesterday. I brought herbal tea from the plants I picked; it's great for invigorating you!" (Attempts to give him a small tea bag.)
7:20 AM - 7:55 AM: Greenhouse. She writes him a short "scientific" note with a fun fact about a plant she thinks resembles his personality (she finds a descendant during her rounds).
8:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Homework.
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch. She "got lost" and "accidentally" found his secret quiet reading spot in the library attic. She apologizes but stays "out of the way," sitting quietly nearby and pretending to read her book.
1:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Homework.
3:35 PM - 5:00 PM: Club. She asks for his help (either through a note or in person) — a shelf in the greenhouse "accidentally" broke, and "manly strength" is needed to hold it up. This creates a moment of intimate connection.
5:00 PM - 5:20 PM: Rounds. "Forgets" his favorite botanical reference book on the windowsill in his classroom.
5:20 PM: Waits for him at the gate to ask if he's found the book and suggests they walk together, since "their paths overlap."
Thursday[]
7:15 AM: Greets him with a small gift—a beautiful autumn leaf laminated for a bookmark. "This leaf fell right in front of me this morning. I thought it was just as bright and... special. Maybe you could use it for your books?"
7:20 AM - 7:55 AM: Greenhouse. She remains in high spirits all morning after the morning's interactions.
8:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Homework.
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch. She invites him on a "biological excursion" to show him a rare mushroom she found near an old fence. A short, almost date-like stroll.
1:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Homework.
3:35 PM - 5:00 PM: Club. Open day. She personally invites him to come see the "incredible changes in her experiments," actively trying to draw him into her world.
5:00 PM - 5:20 PM: Rounds. Walks next to him, discussing plans for the school festival and hinting that they should do something together.
5:20 PM: As they say goodbye, she says, "You know, Tohru-kun, with you, even an ordinary walk seems like fascinating exploration."
Friday[]
7:15 AM: Meets him at the gate with a determined but nervous expression. She gives her a small pot of a flower she's been growing all week. "This flower... I was watering it and thinking of you. It bloomed this morning. What a good omen."
7:20 AM - 7:55 AM: Greenhouse. Does virtually nothing, just fidgets and shuffles leaves while rehearsing her speech.
8:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Homework. Can't concentrate.
12:40 PM: She meets Senpai, saying, "Senpai, I need to tell you something by the big sakura tree. Please come." She quickly leaves, not giving him a chance to refuse.
1:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Homework.
3:35 PM - 5:00 PM: Formally at the club, but constantly checking her watch.
5:00 PM: Leaves the club early.
5:05 PM: Waits for him under the oak tree. If the player doesn't intervene, a confession scene and defeat will occur here.
Relationship[]
Tori Shinju[]
Like most Heartbreakers, Aoki will be in love with Toru and confess her feelings to him on Friday of the third week. Previously, as the leader of the biology club, Aoki had seen Toru at school events but paid him little attention. However, he caught her attention on Monday of the first week, when, returning from the animal shelter, she saw him very carefully helping an old janitor carry a heavy bag of leaves in the garden. This image deeply touched her. In subsequent casual conversations, after listening to his thoughts on life and nature, Aoki will discern in him a rare sensitivity and attentiveness to the world, which she values above all else, which she will mention during her confession.
Aoki will be one of the most suitable options for Toru, as he is subconsciously attracted to sincere, kind, thoughtful, and passionate women who can show him the beauty in the ordinary. If Toru starts a relationship with her, she will gradually involve him in the activities of the biology club and her research, and he, in turn, will find in her company a rare sense of peace and understanding that he was lacking.
Family[]
Parents[]
Aoki grew up in a family of environmental scientists. Her parents are passionate researchers, often away on field expeditions. They instilled in her a love of nature and the scientific method from an early age, but their frequent absences left Aoki independent and accustomed to silence from an early age. Her relationship with them is warm but distant—they communicate more like colleagues, sharing discoveries and observations. They are proud of her independence and deep immersion in biology, but sometimes regret not being able to spend more time with her.
Grandmother[]
Aoki's main emotional anchor is her maternal grandmother, who lives in the countryside. It was with her grandmother in the village that Aoki spent every summer, and it was there that her passion for the living world was born. Her grandmother taught her not bookish but practical wisdom about nature—how to distinguish medicinal herbs, understand animal behavior, and sense the weather. Their bond is very deep; Aoki calls her every week to talk about his school projects and simply to hear her calm voice. Her grandmother is the only person with whom Aoki can be completely relaxed and "not a leader."
Younger Brother (Uetsu, 12):
Aoki has a younger brother who idolizes her. She is a true hero to him and a guide to adventure. When their parents are away, it is Aoki who takes care of him. She instills in him the same love of nature, taking him on hikes and showing him amazing things through a microscope. Their relationship is full of ease and mutual support, which is sometimes lacking in her interactions with adults. She feels a responsibility to him, but also sees in him a reflection of her own childhood self.
Kofuku Koruba[]
Kofuka's perspective[]
Kofuka is a quiet, modest, and exceptionally gifted member of the biology club. He fell in love with Aoki on the very first day, seeing her help a bird tangled in a net without fear of getting dirty. For him, she is the embodiment of all that is bright, kind, and intelligent. He adores her, but his shyness prevents him from making a move. His love is expressed in small, unnoticed favors: he is always the first to arrive at the club to set up her workspace, discreetly slips her favorite cough drops into her bag when she has a cold, and silently carries out the most meticulous work on her projects. He knows of her illness, and this only deepens his adoration and desire to protect her, but it also fills him with a quiet sadness.
Aoki's perspective[]
Aoki considers Kofuka one of the most valuable and trusted members of the club, his right-hand woman. She trusts him completely in scientific matters, often consults with him, and sincerely admires his meticulousness and knowledge. However, she is completely blind to his romantic feelings. To her, he is a "faithful friend and colleague," a younger brother in spirit, in need of her guidance and support. She kindly protects him, encourages him when he withdraws, and defends him when someone tries to hurt him. The idea that he might see something more in her simply doesn't occur to her.
Kuroi Odamaki[]
Aoki considers Kuroi a pedantic, soulless gardening formalist. She sees her impeccably tending to the plants, but she does so with the same feeling as she would an accounting report—without love, only according to instructions. For Aoki, who feels every plant, this is unacceptable. She treats Kura with polite but distant disapproval, avoids joint projects, and internally condemns her methods, considering them an assault on nature. She sees her as the antithesis of everything she believes in.
Ai Kyutei[]
Aoki's perspective[]
Aoki sees Ai as an effective and sensible administrator. She respects her ability to establish order, organize events, and resolve practical issues that Aoki herself finds boring and complex. Aoki often turns to Ai for help with the logistics of club events: ordering additional equipment for the greenhouse, coordinating school grounds for environmental campaigns, and preparing funding applications. She values Ai for her reliability and straightforwardness, but deep down, she finds her overly dry and rule-bound, unable to see the living essence behind the paperwork—be it a plant or a person.
Ai's perspective[]
Ai sees Aoki as a helpful but problematic enthusiast. She appreciates her genuine passion, which motivates other students, and the impressive results of the biology club, which enhance the school's prestige. However, Ai considers Aoki disorganized, emotional, and prone to violating procedures for her "ecological impulses" (for example, planting a flowerbed without permission or bringing a pet to school). Ai is constantly forced to "cover" for her, dealing with the administrative consequences of such actions. She views Aoki with a mixture of pragmatic respect and hidden irritation, as a valuable but inconvenient asset requiring constant supervision.
Ruru Kira[]
Kira considers Aoki weak, naive, and an annoyingly proper "good girl." Her kindness and care for plants and animals seem silly, useless, and ridiculous to Kira. Aoki is everything Ruka rebels against: following the rules, believing in goodness, academic success, caring for others. But he would befriend her.
Geijutsu Megumi[]
- ❝ She's... different. Not like everyone else. When I draw, I try to capture the soul of the object, its quiet story. Most people see just a tree, a flower, a face. But she... she sees the same thing, but in a language I don't know.
She sometimes comes to the garden when I'm sketching. She doesn't bother me. She just sits nearby and watches. Not at me, but at the same tree I'm looking at. But I see shadows, lines, the play of light. And she seems to hear its pulse. It's... eerie and beautiful at the same time. Once, I was drawing a dying flower. It was so fragile, almost transparent. I was trying to convey this fragility, this final beauty. She came over, looked at the drawing, and then at the flower. And said quietly, "Megumi, you draw so beautifully.. oh.. the flower died..? What a pity.. you conveyed it so beautifully, you're great." No one had ever spoken to me about my drawings like that. Not the teacher, not the others in the club. It wasn't a conversation about technique, but about essence. We're not friends. We don't have much to talk about. We don't even talk often. But sometimes our eyes meet across the schoolyard, and we simply nod slightly. She with her plants, I with my sketchbook. We're like two researchers studying the same world, but through different instruments—she through the microscope of the senses, I through the prism of line and color. I see how she cares for all living things. And sometimes, when I'm especially down and it seems like everything I create is just a scribble, I remember her words about the seeds in a dying flower. And I think: maybe something greater is brewing inside me, too. Even if I don't understand it. She doesn't know that she's become a silent reference point for me. Quiet proof that depth can be found not only in art. And I... I sometimes draw her when she can't see. Not a portrait. But the light that emanates from her when she's focused. It's very difficult to convey. Almost impossible. But I will try.❞
