American flying dragon (SciiFii)

The American flying dragon (Draco americanum), sometimes known as the American flying lizard, is a species of agamid lizard of the genus Draco that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the rainforests, wetlands, forests, and open woodlands across North America to help boost biodiversity. The American flying dragon, like other Draco lizards, is capable of gliding flight via membranes that can be extended to create wings (patagia), formed by an enlarged set of ribs. It is an arboreal insectivore that feeds on a wide range of insects and spiders smaller than itself. During the heat of the day in summer, the American flying dragons rest in the cooler canopy and become active again in the late afternoon while they bask during the cooler weather. During the breeding season in March-May, males maintain small territories which they defend from other males while courting females. Males have a more colourful patagium than females and they prominently extend their yellow dewlaps forward in display. Although living almost their entire lives on the trees, females descend to the ground to lay around 4-5 eggs in soil. The conservation status of the American flying dragon is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the American flying dragon's wide range and its tolerance to many of the human activities.
