Alternate Menma Story is the story of the titular character.

Summary

In an alternate world, Naruto's parents are now alive but he's been renamed Menma. However, he's getting corrupted by the power of the nine-tails and having inherited the sharigan but his evil nature is starting to get toned down thanks to a girl named Sakura Haruno, who falls in love with him and wants to make him better. Will he change into a good guy or will he turn bad and have to be stopped?

Characters

• Menma Namikaze: The titular main protagonist of the story. He's the alternate Naruto and the complete opposite of him. Unlike Naruto, Menma is much more mature, serious, stoic, aggressive, rebellious, sadistic, ambitious, and malicious. Despite being the antagonist, he is also the anti-hero and is usually liked by fans even more than the others. He usually disrespects his parents by going through his father's things without permission and always goes through the window when his mom tells him not to but is still scared of his mother for her anger and knows better than to cross her. He also reprimands any of his immature colleagues for their antics. Thanks to Naruto and his world's Sakura, Menma is now redeemed and becomes loyal to his village. After his redemption, he now has to deal with everyone's problem while helping his friends out and pretty much being a parody of Huey Freeman. He's even become more responsible and punishes someone when they did something bad.
• Sakura Haruno: The main deuteragonist of the story and Menma's girlfriend. Unlike her counterpart, Sakura is pure-hearted, calm, sweet, kind, peaceful, loving, caring, happy, warm, and friendly. She doesn't abuse Menma but instead loves him and wants to know him. She is ignored by Menma but he does care for her and shows signs of liking her too because she wants to know him first. When meeting her canon self, she doesn't like the girl's behavior towards Naruto and doesn't get why the canon Sasuke is popular since that guy doesn't care about anyone but him and revenge while Naruto is a nice, friendly, loyal, and forgiving. She also wasn't wrong when pointing out that Menma at least had a much better reason than the canon Sasuke.
• Sasuke Uchiha: Menma's best friend, adopted brother, and sometimes rival. Unlike his counterpart, Sasuke is cocky, arrogant, flirty, and immature. Menma and Sakura get annoyed by him and have to reprimand him. He acts as the foolish brother of the group and keeps getting hit by Menma or Sakura to shut him up before he says something stupid. Even Kakashi gets annoyed by him and has to discipline him for his behavior. Even worse, he never learns a thing from his punishments. However, he's faring better than his canon self, who he really hates for choosing a horrible path and being an ungrateful spoiled brat. He also too dislikes Kiba and Neji for their inappropriate behavior and annoying attitudes while helping Menma reprimand them.
• Hinata Hyuga: Menma's yandere admirer and Sakura's bully. Unlike her counterpart, she is mean, rude, hostile, abusive, dangerous, sadistic, violent, and inappropriate. She's obsessed with Menma but also bullies Sakura for being with Menma. Menma and the group hate her for this and always try to avoid her. Not even being restrained can stop her from crushing on him or bullying others. She also enjoys wearing inappropriate clothing and using them to attract boys. She also hates Kiba for being a creepy flirt and Neji for being a peeping tom, which they don't blame her for as they also dislike those two. Even the adults fear her because they've tried punishing her but it ended up in failure as they got beat up as well. Even Kurenai calls her the craziest child she ever met in her long life and hates being her sensei while Hanabi is scared of her and wants nothing to do with her. The only one who like her are Kiba and Neji, much to her ungrateful annoyance. When Naruto and his friends appear, she also crushes on him as well but is inappropriate about it and hostile towards her canon self, much to Naruto's discomfort and Hinata's anger. This causes her canon self to actually show anger towards her and even dislike her for the attitude while even standing up for everyone and claiming that it's Naruto or Menma's own choice of who they get to date.
• Kiba Inuzuka: Menma's annoying self-proclaimed rival. Unlike his canon self, he's an annoying cat lover and bullies Akamatsu for being a dog, much to Menma's annoyance. He also has a crush on Hinata, who doesn't tolerate him either and gets annoyed by him quickly. He always gets attacked by Akamatsu because the said dog is annoyed by Kiba's obsession and recognizes Menma as the true alpha, much to Kiba's jealousy. Heck, everyone barely tolerates him for how he views girls and how he treats his poor dog, who Menma at least treats kindly. His own mother and sister also dislike him but don't seem to reprimand him for bothering Menma. When his canon self appears, the said guy is irritated at him for bullying Akamatsu and also keeps telling him to shut up.
• Shino Aburame: An acquittance of Menma. Unlike his canon self, he hates bugs and wants to eradicate them, despite his clan needing bugs. However, him and Menma get along and he does apologize to him for Kiba and Hinata's behavior while also doing his best to control their behavior. He's the only student that Kurenai tolerates very greatly and is proud of.
• Rock Lee: Menma's true rival and now a crossdresser. Unlike his canon self, he doesn't always take training too seriously and knows when to take a break. He also doesn't crush on Sakura but is still a friend of her and Menma, who admits to liking Lee. However, everyone gets mad at him for wearing the girls' clothing but Menma respects the guy's choice in crossdressing and Sakura feels bad for him when he gets caught in the crossfire of Hinata punishing Neji. Heck, Sakura accepts him for wanting to dress like a girl and Menma always counts on him to report incidents that need to be stopped.
• Tenten: A clumsy weapons owner. Unlike canon self, she always gets injured when near weapons, much to the group's annoyance. However, Menma respects her but still ignores her crush on him. She's still mature and also gets annoyed by Neji's perverted attitude but is disrespectful towards Lee's crossdressing, much to Menma and Sakura's disappointment towards her.
• Neji Hyuga: Hinata's cousin. Unlike his canon self, he is now an immature pervert who irritates the group with his perverted behavior and has to be reprimanded by Menma, who turns out to hate perverts. Even worse, he doesn't mind peeping on Hinata, much to her chargin. He's been banned from 12 bath houses across the whole nation because of this, except for his village.
• Ino Yamanaka: Sakura's best-friend. Unlike her canon self, she doesn't care about her looks and gets along with Sakura. She usually has to keep peace between her team, to no avail. However, she still likes Sasuke but wants him to stop being a playboy, which he admits that he likes her too and is remorseful that he keeps upsetting her.
• Shikamaru Nara: One of Ino's teammates. Unlike his canon self, he's an immature and incompetent goofster who keeps goofing around and doesn't take anything seriously. However, Menma tolerates him, Sakura finds him funny, and Sasuke pulls jokes with him.
• Choji Akamichi: One of Ino's teammates. Unlike his canon self, he's a mature and serious shinobi who doesn't tolerate Shikamaru's behavior and always reprimands him. He also doesn't always eat all the time and stays on a healthy diet.
• Kakashi Hatake: Menma's sensei. Unlike his canon self, he's a responsible but still excited shinobi who is always feeling youthful and doesn't play favorites. He also doesn't get late or make excuses but if he is late, he makes a much better excuse than his canon self.
• Rin Nohara: Kakashi's wife. Unlike her canon self, she's very strict and no nonsense, especially towards her husband. She was very brutal towards the rejection of Obito Uchiha but rightfully so because of his arrogance. However, she is very motherly towards Menma and feels bad for his terrible life while being mad at Minato and Kushina for being abusive parents.
• Kurenai Yuhi: Hinata's sensei. Unlike her canon self, she doesn't use Genjutsu and is only a fan of it but is immature now and can be very sadistic, especially towards men. However, she doesn't mind Menma and doesn't blame him for rejecting Hinata because she also hates the girl too for her behavior and seems to describe her as the craziest child she ever met in her life. She also doesn't mind Lee's crossdressing and supports him for it.
• Hana Inuzuka: A member of the Inuzuka Clan. Unlike her canon self, she is immature like Kiba and also doesn't respect Menma but starts to take a liking to him and gets crazy over him. However, she also dislikes Hinata for taking it too far with the whole crush thing and thinks that Yugao had her fate coming for what she did. While she doesn't like how Akamatsu disobeys Kiba, she doesn't blame him either and also admits that Kiba is an idiot while wishing that he be like Menma.
• Might Guy: Lee's sensei. Unlike his canon self, he's more mature and doesn't see himself as young. He takes things seriously and gets annoyed by Kakashi for his youth obsession but acknowledges him as a friend and respects Lee's crossdressing.
• Asuma Sarutobi: Ino's sensei. Unlike his canon self, he doesn't smoke and takes his monastery teachings seriously such as believing in Kami and always praying to her, not even hating Menma but instead sees him as a troubled soul.
• Yugao Uzuki: The captain of the ANBU and Kakashi's former love-interest. Unlike her canon self, she doesn't want to protect Menma and always blames him for the nine-tails attack but always hides this just to get close to him and secretly harms him. When he is sent to her house, she has fun in secretly abusing him and having her fiancé record them. However, this will be her undoing as Menma gets Hayate killed and attacks Yugao as well, which she spent her last moments begging Menma for mercy and forgiveness to no avail as the chains kill her and leaving her blood splattered on the door as evidence of her death but the cause is never shown. Despite this, Menma still missed her friendly facade and revived her as one of his own undead goons, which her death left her guilt-ridden over what she did and agreeing to serve him while angrily dismissing Hayate after finding out that he was unfaithful and was manipulating her due to Menma knowing about his true nature, even gladly killing a revived Hayate when he makes selfish excuses for his manipulations. After the war, she is blood adopted into the family and shows complete loyalty to them, even willingly betraying Tsunade for her lack of redemption but has retired as an ANBU and deciding to be a citizen in the household.
• Hayate Gekko: Yugao's fiancé. Unlike his canon self, he groomed Yugao into being prejudice and watches in satisfaction as Yugao harms Menma. He even films her doing it for their own pleasure. However, this gets him killed when Menma uses the chains to rip in half via the waist, leaving Yugao to be killed as well for still planning the whole thing. Despite this, a revived Yugao gets over him due to finding out about his true nature and when Obito revives him, she angrily confronts him over his true nature and the selfish excuse he makes only lead to her gladly killing him for this and denouncing him as her fiancé but this also makes her stay single for life and just being a retired citizen forever.
• Genma Shiranui: One of Hayate's friends. Unlike his canon self, he chews on a toothpick instead of a senbon and takes part in Menma's torment but gets shot in the neck 3 times with lethal senbon needles by Yugito.
• Raido Namiashi: One of Hayate's friends. Unlike his canon self, he doesn't have his famous scar on his face and takes part in Menma's torment but does eventually get scars from Killer Bee's knife dance, only they are lethal ones.
• Aoba Yamashiro: One of Hayate's friends. Unlike his canon self, he doesn't see any reason to wear sunglasses and takes part in Menma's torment but gets killed when Han plunges his thumbs into the guy's eyes.
• Iwashi Tatami: One of Hayate's friends. Unlike his canon self, he is openly prejudice and takes part in Menma's torment but gets killed when Fu uses her insects to sting him to death.
• Anko Mitarashi: Kurenai's childhood stalker and one of Menma's most hated abusers. Unlike her canon self, she is abusive and monstrous towards anyone around her but is mostly obsessed with keeping Kurenai to herself and even tortures Menma out of sadistic pleasure from watching her prey squirm a lot only for this to get her killed when an enraged Gaara uses Sand Buriel on her as revenge for abusing his savior.
• Ibiki Morino: Anko's partner and another hated abuser. Unlike his canon self, he is corrupt and enjoys torturing Menma if the latter was framed for anything but will reluctantly let him go if he's proven innocent and yet also had no problem doing this to his own brother only for him to also get killed for it when Roshi uses his lava technique to both burn and blow Ibiki's head up in a very slow yet painful way possible.
• Iruka Urimo: Menma's former headroom teacher. Unlike his canon self, he hates Menma and always tries to fail him, even when he's trying to succeed. However, he gets betrayed and killed by Mizuki for power, leading to the latter's own death as well.
• Mizuki: Iruka's partner. Unlike his canon self, he's still friends with Iruka and helps him torment Menma but still willing to betray and kill him for power, which only causes his own demise.
• Suzume: Sakura's old teacher. She's stern like her canon self but is sadly prejudice towards Menma, much to Sakura's anger.
• Daikoku Funeno: Another teacher at the academy.
• Izumo Kamizuki: One of Tsunade's guards. Unlike his canon self, he's now the proctor for the 1st part of the Chunin exams and yet stays neutral to the whole torment thing.
• Kotetsu Hagame: One of Tsunade's guards.
• Ebisu: Konohamaru's sensei. Unlike his canon self, he's not prejudice and does try to help Menma out.
• Yamato: Kakashi's old comrade. Unlike his canon self, he's not creepy but is still silent.
• Minato Namikaze: Menma's abusive dad and head of the Namikaze Clan. Unlike his canon self, he didn't become Hokage and remains a Jonin. He's scared of his wife but doesn't do anything to protect Menma and also likes to accuse him of causing trouble, despite that he still hates his wife. However, he gifted his son some weapons at a young age since he can't stop his son's lethal antics and could tell that there's something wrong with him. Despite this, he doesn't care about his son's miserable life and admits to hating him because he didn't want a son but only a daughter to marry off to the Uchiha Clan for power, making him no better than his wife. He also cheats on his wife but for good reason as she herself has been inappropriate towards their son, much to his disgust.
• Kushina Uzumaki: Menma's abusive mother. Unlike her canon self, she is very ill-tempered and scares everyone, even her own son and husband. While she has reasons to get mad at Menma, she is still very abusive towards him and likes to hit him or insult him. Even worse, she is obsessed with him and has used him as a stress relief toy for her while refusing to let him date Sakura, who is well aware of Kushina's true nature and hates her for it. It's later confirmed that she sexual abused him and even forcibly slept with him, which started to further traumatize him for the rest of his life. Whenever he rejected her, she would slap him and yell at him to please her. Because of this, everyone hates her and feels bad for Menma, even Minato hates his wife and cheats on her.
• Fugaku Uchiha: Sasuke's father and Menma's adopted father. Unlike his canon self, he is nice to Menma and is horrified by the boy's terrible life. He has Menma stay with him and even adopted him. Him and his wife are pretty much true parents to him and are happy to be called his mom and dad. He also gets mad with Sasuke's behavior and keeps reprimanding him.
• Mikoto Uchiha: Sasuke's mother. Unlike her canon self, she hates Kushina for being an abusive monster but does love Menma and treats him like a son to her. Whenever he runs away from home, she always comforts him over the abuse he suffered and sang him lullabys to help him get to sleep. She even raised him and celebrated his birthdays, which he usually hates. However, she is obsessed with him but wants to control it so she won't hurt a kid. Just like her husband, she can't stand Sasuke's playboy behavior and tries lecturing him for it while being glad that Menma treats women nicely. She also ships Menma and Sakura, who don't deny it.
• Jiraiya: The current Hokage of the village. Unlike his canon self, he isn't a pervert and just only wanting inspiration to write but also doesn't care about Menma and even using him to gain fortune from the prophecy, despite the fact that his Kage title gets him plenty of it. However, he is happily married to Tsunade and supports her but wants to calm her hatred for Menma down and warns her of enemy villages wanting him, still taking his title very seriously.
• Bando: Jiraiya's aide. Unlike his canon self, he is a member of the village and is entrusted by Jiraiya to be helping him out but also gets exhausted by his mentor's empathetic behavior.
• Tsunade: The head medic of the village. Unlike her canon self, she looks like her actual age and is married to Jiraiya but she's also annoyed by Menma, who calls her granny out of disrespect. When Menma turns traitor, she is more eager to place him on the bingo book and even add in a reward for his death or capture but then gets outsmarted by him and captured while also being betrayed by her long suffering assistant Shizune. However, she doesn't deserve any loyalty from him because she's a horrible person to him and had let him suffered due to seeing him as a scapegoat for the villagers, being pretty much unfit for the job.
• Shizune: Tsunade's assistant. Unlike her canon self, she's a busty drinker and likes flirting with Menma, who is amused by it and playfully flirts with her. However, she actually loves Yugito, who returns her feelings. Having enough of Tsuande mistreating her, she joins Menma's side and betrays Tsunade to get revenge on her

• Menma vs. Yugao and Hayate: (at a party, Yugao and Hayate are drinking and talking but then saw Menma and smirked)
  • Yugao: (smirking) "Let's do something."
  • Hayate: (also smirking) "Yeah, we should."
  • (they go over to him and he looked up curious)
  • Yugao: (smiling) "Hey Menma, how are you doing?"
  • Menma: (confused) "I thought you hated me."
  • (Yugao secretly signals Hayate and he drugs Menma's drink)
  • Yugao: (laughing) "Oh no, who would?"
  • (he was still confused but shrugged and drank his drink. However, he felt the drugs kicking in and saw Yugao smirking at him before he passes out. When he wakes up, he sees Yugao in a robe and Hayate holding a camera. He then finds himself tied up as Yugao smirks at him and he glares at her)
  • Menma: (glaring) "Let me go now."
  • Yugao: (smirking) "Maybe when I'm done with you."
  • (she took her robe off and started abusing him while Hayate recorded and laughed sadistically. After they were done, they left the room and went to their pool to make out but Menma untied himself and was enraged by those two that his eyes glowed red)
  • Menma: (scowling) "I'm going to kill them."
  • (at the pool, Yugao and Hayate were laying on a towel and they were enjoying what they did but then Yugao felt something on her ankle and was surprised to see a chain)
  • Yugao: (surprised) "What the fuck?"
  • (the chain starts dragging her and she lands in the pool screaming. Hayate notices and gets worried for Yugao)
  • Hayate: (worried) "Yugao?"
  • Yugao: (scared) "HAYATE, HELP ME!"
  • Hayate: (worried) "Oh no, hold on."
  • (however, a chain grabs his ankle and throws him on the ground, where he hits his head and goes unconscious. Yugao is drowning but manages to escape. She climbs out of the water and coughs out some water but then looks back and was horrified to see Hayate in the air with chains around him. She then screams in horror and despair as she sees him get ripped apart via the waist. She then gets to the exit but first tearfully mourns Hayate before then trying to open the door. However, she can't get it open and starts banging on it)
  • Yugao: (scared) "HEY, SOMEBODY HELP ME! LET ME OUT! SOMETHING'S TRYING TO KILL ME! (she then sees Menma and starts begging him) MENMA, PLEASE HELP ME! THESE CHAINS KILLED MY HUSBAND! YOU GOT TO HELP ME! (she then notices his look and realizes what's going on) NO PLEASE, I'M SORRY! I WON'T DO IT AGAIN! I PROMISE! JUST LET ME OUT, PLEASE! (he then waves at her and walks away, much to her protest) NO WAIT, COME BACK! COME BACK AND SAVE ME! MENMA! MENMA!"
  • (she then looks behind her and screams in horror as the chains launch at her and her blood hits the door window, confirming her death)

• Menma and the Konohamaru Squad: (Menma and Sakura were walking together but then saw a fake rock with eye holes and rolled their eyes at that)
  • Menma: (annoyed) "That is the shittiest disguise I've ever seen."
  • (the fake box explodes and outcomes the Konohamaru Squad, who got dizzy from the explosion)
  • Konohamaru: (dizzy) "I knew we used too much gun powder."
  • Udon: (glaring) "I told you, boss."
  • Moegi: (annoyed) "Shut up, guys. I don't know why I got dragged along."
  • Menma: (groaning) "Oh great, it's you three."
  • (they look up and get scared)
  • Konohamaru: (scared) "Menma-Sama, hello. It's nice seeing you."
  • Sakura: (curious) "Shouldn't you be in school?"
  • Konohamaru: (rudely) "Shouldn't you mind your own business?"
  • (Sakura felt hurt by that remark and Menma gave the brat a scolding look before tapping him on the back of the head)
  • Menma: (glaring) "Watch your mouth, young man."
  • Konohamaru: (wincing) "Yes sir."
  • Menma: (glaring) "Also, she's right. Shouldn't you be in school?"
  • Ebisu: (also glaring) "Yes, they should be."
  • (Ebisu then appears and is glaring at the brats, who are now scared)
  • Sakura: (bowing) "Ebisu-Sensei."
  • Ebisu: (smiling) "No need to bow, Sakura."
  • Menma: (glaring) "Ebisu-Sensei, these three were skipping school again and their leader was rude to Sakura."
  • Konohamaru: (rudely) "Well, she should've minded her own business. No wonder she doesn't have any friends."
  • (Sakura looked even more hurt and Menma was pissed at this but Ebisu fortunately bonked his head for his rudeness)
  • Ebisu: (scolding) "KONOHAMARU SARUTOBI, HOW DARE YOU INSULT THAT POOR INNOCENT YOUNG LADY?! WAIT UNTIL YOUR UNCLE HEARS ABOUT THIS!"
  • Menma: (agreeing) "And if you don't want an even painful lesson, I suggest you apologize and beat it already."
  • Konohamaru: (scared) "Okay, sir. I'm sorry, ma'am. Please forgive me."
  • Sakura: (smiling) "It's alright, kiddo. People make mistakes."
  • Menma: (nodding) "Good. Now beat it and return to school before you're taught another painful lesson again."
  • Ebisu: (agreeing) "You heard him, get going."
  • Konohamaru: (scared) "Yes, sir. Come on, let's roll."
  • (they start running in fear as Menma starts scaring them to go faster)
  • Ebisu: (serious) "Yeah, that's right. You better run."
  • Menma: (frowning) "May I suggest you chase after them to make sure they go back to school?"
  • Ebisu: (smirking) "Gladly."
  • (he chases after them while Menma checks on Sakura)
  • Menma: (sighing) "Don't mind him. That brat doesn't think before he talks. Just like his mother. Sorry about that."
  • Sakura: (waving it off) "It's cool. I don't care what he said to me."
  • Menma: (sighing) "I just hope he doesn't use that inappropriate jutsu on Ebisu again."
  • Sakura: (confused) "What jutsu?"
  • Menma: (shaking his head) "You don't want to know."
  • Sakura: (worried) "Is it that bad?"
  • Menma: (rolling his eyes) "Let's just say that he keeps getting scolded for it."
  • Sakura: (interested) "I'm listening."
  • (he starts to tell her about the infamous sexy jutsu and she's now resisting the urge to beat that brat for making it)

• Menma vs the Sand Siblings: (Menma and Sakura were continuing their walk when they saw Hanabi being manhandled by Kankuro and Temari, 2 sand ninjas and old bullies of Menma)
  • Kankuro: (scowling) "When you bump into me, you should learn to apologize properly."
  • Temari: (agreeing) "Yeah, apologize to my brother properly."
  • Hanabi: (scared) "I'm sorry, sir. Please don't hurt me."
  • Kankuro: (scoffing) "I don't think that's a good apology."
  • Temari: (smirking) "You might want to teach her a lesson, bro."
  • Kankuro: (agreeing) "Yeah, I will."
  • (Menma was angry at this and marched over to them)
  • Menma: (angry) "Hey, you get your hands the hell off my little genius."
  • (they turn to see him and Hanabi was happy but Kankuro and Temari were angry to see him)
  • Hanabi: (happy) "Menma-Nii, thank goodness you're here."
  • Kankuro: (scowling) "Oh great, it's you again."
  • Temari: (also scowling) "Don't we get enough of you?"
  • Menma: (sighing) "Hanabi, what happened?"
  • Hanabi: (explaining) "I was chasing butterfly but got lost and bumped into him. I apologized to him but he didn't find it properly and started manhandling me."
  • Kankuro: (arrogant) "It's your own fault for bumping into me in the first place."
  • Temari: (agreeing) "Yeah, we're the elite and we can do whatever we want. She should apologize properly."
  • Menma: (disgusted) "You scumbags make me sick. Beating on a young child."
  • Kankuro: (shrugging) "So what? We should be praised for being in your presence."
  • Temari: (agreeing) "That's right, we're just teaching her a lesson."
  • Menma: (scowling) "Well, it's time to teach you a lesson."
  • Sakura: (also scowling) "I'll help you."
  • Kankuro: (smirking) "Temari, hold the little brat."
  • Temari: (also smirking) "You got it."
  • (Kankuro gave Hanabi to Temari, who held Hanabi's arms behind her and covered her mouth. Kankuro took out his puppet and was about use it but then saw sand moving and this made him smirk more)
  • Kankuro: (smirking) "Oh boy, here comes the boss."
  • Temari: (also smirking) "Yeah, you're in trouble now."
  • (out of the sand comes the boss Gaara, who smirks evily at Menma)
  • Gaara: (smirking) "Well, well, if it isn't Menma of the Leaf."
  • Menma: (glaring) "Gaara of the Sand."
  • Gaara: (scowling) "You're interfering with our fun."
  • Menma: (scoffing) "You don't scare me, daddy's boy."
  • (Gaara scowls at the nickname while Kankuro and Temari glare but Hanabi muffles a giggle, which irritated Temari)
  • Temari: (scowling) "Shut the fuck up, you little shit."
  • (however, Hanabi stomped on Temari's foot and bit on her finger. Temari winced in pain as Hanabi ran over to Menma, who defends her)
  • Menma: (smirking) "Looks like you lost a hostage."

  • (they disappear in the sand as Hanabi then hugs Menma's leg in excitement)
  • Hanabi: (excited) "That was awesome! You're my hero, Nii-Kun. I love you."
  • (Menma just shook his head fondly and patted her head, much to her happiness)
  • Menma: (stern) "Stay out of trouble, okay? (she nodded and he gestured somewhere) Now go back to school or you'll get in trouble."
  • Hanabi: (nodding) "Okay, Nii-Kun."
  • (she then ran to school as Sakura smiled at Menma)
  • Sakura: (smiling) "That was very brave and sweet of you."
  • Menma: (scoffing) "I don't know what you're talking about."
  • Sakura: (teasing) "Sure, you don't."
  • Menma: (glaring) "Don't make me punish you too."
  • Sakura: (teasing) "Oh, I'm so scared."
  • (Menma angrily groaned in annoyance as Sakura laughed at this)

• The Squad meet Kabuto: (as the squad was catching up but Menma was catching more attention with the female members, they heard whistling from a young man with glasses)
  • Kabuto: (annoyed) "Can you keep it down? You're attracting attention."
  • Menma: (frowning) "Who the fuck are you?"
  • (everyone was surprised by Menma's choice of language and attitude but Kabuto wasn't offended)
  • Kabuto: (smirking) "Oh how rude of me. I'm Kabuto Yakushi and this is my final retake at the exams."
  • Kiba: (snickering) "Wow, you must suck, loser."
  • (Menma reprimands him with a slap to the back of the head, earning an annoyed ow from the cat lover)
  • Kabuto: (sighing) "Sadly, yes. (then he smirks and takes out cards) But I've got something useful."
  • Menma: (suspicious) "What are those?"
  • Kabuto: (smirking) "Information Cards on a few shinobi."
  • Sakura: (serious) "How about information on Menma Namikaze and Gaara of the Sand?"
  • (everyone was surprised but Menma shrugged and didn't mind)
  • Menma: (shrugging) "Well, you heard the lady."
  • Kabuto: (disappointed) "Oh damn, you know their names. No fun. (he then shrugs) Oh well. Information: Him and his siblings like going after easy prey, have killed anyone who stand in their way, is obsessed with upstaging Menma, and also has bounties against him.   • (they all turn to Gaara, who gives an evil smirk. Menma just looks unimpressed and sensed the one-tail inside him, which will make his plan work)
• Menma sits next to Hinata: (as the exam is beginning, Menma accidentally sits next to Hinata, much to his dismay and her joy)
  • Menma (thought): (annoyed) 'Oh fuck me.'
  • Hinata (thought): (smirking) 'Finally, I have him all to myself. Maybe I can have fun during this test.'
  • (Sakura notices and felt bad for Menma while glaring at Hinata in disgust)

• Izumo finds Menma's message: (he was collecting the tests but then sees Menma had gotten the right answers, much to his proudness)
  • Izumo: (proud) "I knew you could do it, gaki. (he then noticed something on the final question) Hmm, what's this?"
  • Menma: (message) 'Izumo-Sensei, I think that we have a traitor in our midst. His name is Kabuto Yakushi. He suddenly has information of me and the Genins on his cards, this is his final retake of the exams, and he's bad at fake vomiting when the Sound team supposedly attacked him. Also, him and that team smelt like snakes so I believe Orochimaru's behind this. If you take this seriously, then please report this to the Hokage. This must be investigated.'
  • Izumo: (proud) "Good job, Menma. Thanks for the info. And don't worry, I'll report this to the Hokage."
  • (he then asked for the other Chunin to collect the papers as he shunshinned to the Hokage's office)

• Izumo informs the Hokage: (in the Hokage's office, Jiraiya was doing paperwork as usual, which he shares every Kage's hatred for it but then hears a knock at the door and hopes that this is important right now)
  • Jiraiya: (annoyed) "Enter."
  • (Izumo comes in and has the note with him)
  • Izumo: (serious) "Lord Hokage, I think we have a traitor and intruder in our midst."
  • Jiraiya: (curious) "And how do you know this?"
  • (he shows him the note and he reads it, causing his eyes to narrow suspiciously)
  • Izumo: (worried) "Shall we cancel the exams?"
  • Jiraiya: (frowning) "No. We can't let other villages know about this. We got to keep this quiet. However, you will apprehend Kabuto when it's the right time and if he resists, kill him. Also, keep security tight on the exams."
  • Izumo: (saluting) "Yes, sir."
  • (he shunshins away but Jiraiya was still frowning at what he just read, knowing that Orochimaru would do this for his selfish goal of wanting immortal power)
  • Jiraiya (thought): (glaring) 'Whatever you're planning, it won't work.'
  • (for now, he reluctantly goes back to his paperwork, still wishing to find a solution to it)

• Gaara's talk with Sand Siblings: (once Gaara was done killing the Rain team, he winced at nearly losing the scroll as his siblings got irritated at this and berated him for it)
  • Kankuro: (irritated) "Damn it, Gaara, you nearly ruined our chances."
  • Gaara: (sighing) "I know, I'm so sorry."
  • Temari: (scoffing) "You should be, can't you do anything right?"
  • (Kankuro then abusively taps Gaara over the head, making him flinch)
  • Kankuro: (glaring) "Dumbass."
  • Gaara: (flinching) "Don't worry, it won't happen again."
  • Temari: (scoffing) "And you better make sure of that."
  • (the 2 then poof away, which Gaara sighs in dismay at their attitude but still goes with them, unaware of Team 9 watching this and feeling some sympathy for Gaara as even Neji was disturbed by this too)
  • Rock Lee: (frowning) "That's no way for family to behave."
  • Tenten: (agreeing) "Yeah, them being toxic is way more of an understatement."
  • Neji: (nervous) "Let's just go."
  • (of course, the other teams also took notice of this)

• Menma's talk with Tsunade and the Jonins: (after getting to the tower, Menma is getting interrogated by Tsunade and the 2 guards)
  • Tsunade: (suspicious) "How do you suddenly suspect a traitor and why do you help us now?"
  • Menma: (shrugging) "I'm just good at detecting a traitor and I have no reason to let the invasion happen."
  • (before she can say anything, Jiraiya and Ebisu came in with a video tape)
  • Jiraiya: (serious) "At ease, my dear."
  • Ebisu: (agreeing) "He's right, we have evidence of Menma's claim."
  • (he put it in the VHS player and sure enough, Kabuto is indeed a traitor and spy working for Orochimaru, although Tsunade still doesn't trust Menma but Jiraiya agrees to deal with Kabuto)
  • Jiraiya: (serious) "Thank you for this, we'll deal with Kabuto but for now, you're dismissed."
  • Menma: (saluting) "Yes, sir."
  • (he then leaves the room as Ebisu smiles proudly)
  • Ebisu: (smiling) "He did good."
  • Tsunade: (suspicious) "But we must still keep an eye on him."
  • Jiraiya: (sighing) "Ebisu, same with you, me and her need a talk."
  • (Ebisu nods and leaves as well but Tsunade refuses to trust Menma and yet Jiraiya calms her down)
  • Tsunade: (glaring) "He's up to something, I just know it."
  • Jiraiya: (sighing) "Calm yourself, my dear, we now know about the spy."
  • Tsunade: (huffing) "But that boy should remember that he and the rest of his kind are only just merely tools and super weapons for every village, nothing more and nothing less."
  • (Jiraiya just shook his head at his wife's stubbornness but also sadly shared her prejudice views and wanting that boy to serve them without question at all, not even caring how the kid feels)

• Menma kills Kabuto: (as Kabuto is about to leave, ANBU agents block him and they are lead by Hana, who is taking over for Yugao and not seeking revenge against Menma because she doesn't have a death wish)
  • Hana: (glaring) "Kabuto Yokushi, you're under arrest for treason, impersonating an examine, and for association with a known terrorist, surrender yourself now."
  • (Kabuto got shocked but then tries to fight them. However, Menma restrains him with chains, which Hana flinched at due to what happened to Yugao but still kept her composure as Menma then holds Kabuto at knife point)
  • Menma: (glaring) "Put down your weapon, now."
  • Kabuto: (scowling) "Fuck you."
  • Menma: (glaring) "Don't make me ask again. (the tone in his voice caused Kabuto to drop his weapon) Now, where is Orochimaru and what is he planning?"
  • Kabuto: (sneering) "Go to Hell."
  • Menma: (glaring) "Wrong answer."
  • (he starts pulling the kunai towards Kabuto's throat, causing the traitor to break)
  • Kabuto: (scared) "Okay, I'll talk. He's the leader of the Sound Village and was planning an invasion here. That's all I know."
  • Menma: (smirking) "Very good. But it's now up to Lord Danzo to decide your fate."
  • (he looks at Danzo, who dragged his thumb across his throat. Menma nods and looks at Kabuto, who got scared. Menma slits the guy's throat and then stabs him in it. After taking the kunai out and releasing the chains, Kabuto coughs on his own blood and collapses on the floor dead. Everyone was stunned as Menma just cleans his kunai off without a care for what he did as Danzo smiled proudly)
  • Danzo: (proud) "Very good, Menma. He was too dangerous to be kept alive."
  • Menma: (bowing) "I know, sir. I know. (he then looks at Sakura) Sorry for showing you that."
  • Sakura: (shocked) "You killed him."
  • Menma: (sighing) "That's the law. He would've revealed secrets out of spite towards the village."
  • (Sakura is concerned by Menma's lack of remorse)

• Menma vs. Kiba: (as they soon get to the stage, Kiba was just wasting too much time being an arrogant fool via bragging about his non-existent skills or even looking down on Menma, which the latter could care less but Hana still rolled her eyes in disappointment as Menma turns to her with a sigh)
  • Menma: (sighing) "Just start the match."
  • Hana: (scoffing) "Oh please, I already know how this will go."
  • (of course, she still started the match and teleport back to the Kage stand as Jiraiya and the others also knew the result)
  • Jiraiya: (scoffing) "I'm not betting on the winner."
  • Yashamaru: (agreeing) "Yeah, that's a sucker's bet."
  • Mei: (smirking) "I'm still doing it for fun."
  • (Tsuchikage and Raikage agreed with her but despite their dislike for Menma, they already guessed the winner and it was obvious as Kiba was indeed not even preparing himself)
  • Menma: (sighing) "You know what, I'll just give you one last chance to stand down now."
  • Kiba: (scoffing) "Oh please, I'm not here to talk, I'm here to kick ass."
  • (wanting to get this over with, Menma easily punches Kiba in the air via the chin and kicks him down via the groin, making the latter girlishly scream before passing out from the pain as Menma jumps down and rolls his eyes at Kiba's easy defeat but then sees Akamatsu and smirks at him with a hand gesture)
  • Menma: (smirking) "Akamatsu, show your true strength, come at me."
  • Akamatsu: (nodding) 'My pleasure, boss.'
  • (as they struck a pose, they charge at each other and put up an excellent fight but when Menma has Akamatsu in a side-hug, they knew this fight had to end)
  • Menma: (smirking) "Sorry, Akamatsu but this fight's over."
  • Akamatsu: (nodding) 'Very well, boss.'
  • (fortunately, Menma harmlessly did a pressure point thing on Akamatsu and put him to sleep, which Hana appears and picks Akamatsu up with a grateful smile)
  • Hana: (grateful) "Thanks for not hurting him."
  • Menma: (serious) "Still, this match is over."
  • Hana: (shrugging) "Indeed, the winner is Menma Namikaze, even if you found it obvious."
  • (after a brief chuckle at that remark, there were still respectful claps at this as Menma went over to Kiba and gave a brutal yet accurate lecture towards him)
  • Menma: (frowning) "Next time, stay true to your famous last words, dog-fucker."
  • (even more, he also spat on his opponent in disgust but then noticed Akamatsu briefly waking up and decided to reward him with a dog treat and head pat as he goes back to his team while the Kages were also impressed but Mei smugly snapped her fingers at the Tsuchikage and Raikage for the earnings, much to their dismay)
  • Tsuchikage: (annoyed) "I thought you forgot about that."
  • Mei: (smirking) "Nope, so hurry up now."
  • Raikage: (groaning) "Fine, whatever."
  • (they give the earnings to her as she puts the money away and was grateful towards Menma for this, which he just sighed in boredom over this whole fight being easily over)
  • Menma: (upset) "Oh man, that was so weak and boring, there should've been a hard one."
  • (his team just chuckled fondly but other shinobi who heard him can agree on that, especially a disappointed Kurenai)
  • Kurenai: (disappointed) "My student is such a failure."
  • Hinata: (scoffing) "The winner was obvious."
  • Shino: (sighing) "Why is he my teammate?"
  • (many others also praised Menma's skills and insulted Kiba's attitude)

• Rasa berates Gaara: (once the preliminary exam was over, Menma was walking by but was overhearing how Rasa was berating Gaara, something that Menma knows all too well)
  • Rasa: (glaring) "Your siblings told me what happened, you know."
  • Gaara: (nervous) "I'm sorry, dad, I was getting out of control."
  • (Rasa suddenly backhands Gaara to the floor as a hidden Menma winced at this and was getting shocked to be seeing this, realizing what's obviously going on here)
  • Rasa: (disgusted) "Don't you dare call me that, you lost the right when your mom died giving birth to a monster like you."
  • Gaara: (crying) "I know, I'm so sorry for killing her."
  • Rasa: (scoffing) "To think that she died just to avoid raising you, if only me and her weren't too soft and pathetic to even want you only to end up finding out how much of a failure you still are, she might still be displeased with you."
  • (upon this conversation, Rasa just spits at the boy and leaves as Menma stayed hidden and looked to see Gaara hugging his knees in tears at the abuse but was comforted by Shukaku in a twisted way)
  • Shukaku (voice): (soft) "Don't cry, kiddo, you'll soon prove them wrong about you."
  • Gaara: (scowling) "Yeah, right after Namikaze pays for this humiliation."
  • (instead of being annoyed by this, Menma gives a silent sigh at this and quickly leaves, having never thought that one of his rivals was just like him but is still taking his anger out on others)

• Menma defeats Gaara: (after defeating Gaara, the said jinchuriki felt fear for the first time, much to the others' shock)
  • Gaara: (begging) "No please, leave me alone. Please, have mercy."
  • Menma: (smirking) "There is no mercy."
  • (he then starts holding Gaara and absorbing him, which is hurting him)
  • Gaara: (wincing) "I'm feeling weak...please don't kill me..."
  • Menma: (smirking) "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you. I have other uses for you."
  • (he then continues to absorb Gaara's tailed beast chakra until it was done and Gaara collapses, breathing in exhaustion and looking shocked)
  • Gaara: (shocked) "I can't hear mother anymore."
  • Menma: (smirking) "I got rid of that problem of yours. You now owe me."
  • Gaara: (sighing) "What is it you want?"
  • Menma: (smirking) "You will serve me and I might spare your siblings."
  • Kankuro: (protesting) "Don't do it, Gaara."
  • Temari: (also protesting) "Think about our village, Gaara."
  • Gaara: (frowning) "I can't let him kill you. We have lost. (he then kneels before Menma) I surrender my allegiance to you and will do anything you ask."
  • Menma: (smirking) "Good. Kill your Kage. Don't let him control you."
  • Gaara: (bowing) "Yes, my master."
  • (he then uses sand to catch Rasu, who starts struggling)
  • Rasu: (shocked) "Gaara, what are you doing?"
  • Gaara: (glaring) "I'm tired of being your puppet. I have a new master now."
  • Kankuro: (protesting) "Gaara, don't do it."
  • Temari: (also protesting) "Please don't."
  • Gaara: (angry) "I've always hated him. Sand Coffin."
  • (the sand starts covering Rasu's body, muffling his protests)
  • Kankuro and Temari: (both tearful) "NO!"
  • Gaara: (angry) "SAND BURIAL!"
  • (he then closes his fist and the sand instantly crushes the kage to death, leaving a bloody mess. Kankuro and Temari were horrified and angered at Gaara)
  • Kankuro: (angry) "What have you done?"
  • Temari: (also angry) "You fucking monster, you should've been aborted when mom was dying."
  • (Gaara shed tears at their words and realizes that they chose their father over him before he then glared at them)
  • Gaara: (angry) "You're just like him. Selfish and manipulative abusers who only wanted a tool to use for your needs. I should've let my new master kill you. You're no siblings of mine. My only brother is now my new master. He understands my pain while you guys just treat me like a monster. It's your guys' fault as well for why I'm like this. I'm no longer your puppet. I hate you. Never come near me or you'll die. I won't hesitate to kill you."
  • (they flinch at his words and now feel guilty for how they reacted so Temari decided to do her responsibilities as the eldest child to try and calm her brother down)
  • Temari: (worried) "Gaara, please don't leave. We're sorry. We didn't mean it. We love you."
  • Gaara: (angry) "LIAR! STAY AWAY FROM ME! YOU WOULD JUST BE WILLING TO KILL ME!"
  • (he then uses his sand to leave as Temari then glares at Menma in hatred)
  • Temari: (glaring) "You turned him against us."
  • Menma: (also glaring) "You have done that yourself."
  • Temari: (angry) "YOU WILL NOT TAKE HIM FROM US!"
  • Menma: (frowning) "Your arrogance and lust for attention from your father had already done that."
  • Temari: (glaring) "As their eldest sibling, I will volunteer to become Kazekage and I vow to bring my brother back."
  • Menma: (smirking) "Yeah, good luck with that."
  • (he then leaves them as they glare at him in hatred and vow revenge on him for stealing their brother)
• Menma marks Gaara as a member of their new Akatsuki: (in Menma's hideout, he comes across a kneeling Gaara)
  • Menma: (serious) "It's time for your mark."
  • Gaara: (nodding) "Yes, my master."
  • (he then performs the marking and the process was complete, Gaara is now a full-time member of the group)

• Bounties: (in the Hokage's office, Jiraiya sighed at how it came to this but is done being too soft, which Kagura and Bando arrived with the bingo book but also hated to do this)
  • Kagura (voice): (sighing) "A shame, I was really liking him."
  • Jiraiya: (stern) "Dismissed."
  • Bando: (bowing) "Yes, sir."
  • (they then leave as Jiraiya reluctantly puts Menma's picture in with a sigh)
  • Jiraiya: (disappointed) "Such a shame indeed but we'll get you back to your place."
  • (with that said, he immediately stamps the bounty on the file. In the Kazekage's office, Yashamaru is also given the bingo book)
  • Baki: (serious) "Here's the bingo book."
  • Yashamaru: (nodding) "Thank you, you're dismissed."
  • Baki: (bowing) "Yes, sir."
  • (he then leaves and he adds the pictures of Menma and Gaara but looks sadly at Gaara's picture)
  • Yashamaru: (sad) "Don't worry, Gaara. We'll bring you home."
  • (he then stamps the bounty for Menma and Gaara. In the Mizukage's office, Mei was also reluctant but had to do this for the village right now as she looks at the pictures Menma and the 2 jinchurikis of the Hidden Mist Village)
  • Mei: (sighing) "Such a shame, you're our cute hero but this must be done for the better."
  • (with great reluctance, she stamped the bounties on them but gave a secret finger kiss on Menma's. In the Tsuchikage's office, Kitsuchi was also given the bingo book by Kurotsuchi but she was starting to like Menma)
  • Kurotsuchi: (sighing) "And I thought we had that hater on our side."
  • Kitsuchi: (frowning) "Kurotsuchi, you're dismissed."
  • Kurotsuchi: (bowing) "Yes, fath-I mean, Lord Fourth."
  • (she then disappears as he shook his head at her but still frowned at the pictures of Menma and the 2 jinchurikis of the Hidden Stone Village)
  • Kitsuchi: (sighing) "Why did it have to come to this?"

• Kagura becomes Hokage: (in Konoha, Jiraiya decided to retire from his job and giving the title to Kagura, who gladly accepts with honor and loyalty as the village doesn't mind it

T.V. Tropes

• Abusive Parents: Kushina sometimes is seen as this due to how she scares Menma with her anger and always forces him out of his room but it's only because he's rude to her. However, it's confirmed in this new story that she is abusive towards him, insults him, and treats him as a stress relief. Minato is also this due to putting seals on Menma, letting him get abused, and only hates him because he didn't want a son. They even don't care about their daughter framing him and even help her hurt him while showing no remorse for mistreating him. Even Kushina's parents and the elders allow this because they see Menma as weak.
• Adaptational Heroism: Fortunately, some villains or mean people can be this now.
  • Akatsuki: Since they have no motive to betray their villages, they have normal lives such as Itachi never massacring his clan, Kisame serves Mei with honor, Deidara is a genuine artist, Sasori is a normal puppeteer, Hidan agrees to his village's pacifism, Kakazu is only providing for his village, Nagato is a beloved leader, and even Konan teaches an innocent class.
  • Kaguya Otsutsuki: Due to a reversal between her and Hagoromo, she's now his heroic daughter who acts motherly towards Naruto and Menma while also training them to stop the Big Bad and punishing the Tailed Beasts for being manipulative.
• Adaptational Jerka**: A few characters get this:
  • Hinata Hyuga: She is defiantly this as she bullies Sakura and any girl that gets attracted to Menma. She also hurts him too for ignoring her feelings.
  • Kiba Inuzuka: He lacks his variant's likable traits and is just a full-on arrogant idiot who also hates Akamatsu and only likes Hinata for the abusive attitude, much to even her own irritation.
  • The Sand Siblings: They are also now bullies towards Menma and the Leaf but fortunately, Gaara changes his attitude when he's defeated and ended up having to swear loyalty to Menma.
• Adaptational Villainy: Some people are this right now:
  • Obito Uchiha: While he was still a villain in canon, he was also a good person once and died during a Heel-Face-Turn but here, he was always a horrible person since his childhood and betrayed the Leaf Village for petty reasons while also being the mastermind of the events and is the one using Madara instead along with also being Beyond Redemption.
  • Anko Mitarashi: She is a corrupt torturer and always abuses Menma for his jinchuriki status to the point of even sexual abuse while even mistreating Kurenai and torments her for sadistic pleasure out of spite for being rejected by her.
  • Zabuza and Haku: Unlike their canon selves, they never get a Heel-Face-Turn and stay as villains to the very end while their callous attitudes are genuine and the latter doesn't have the Freudian Excuse.
• Adaptational Ugliness: Some people are also this:
  • Obito Uchiha: Unlike his canon self, his injuries are now very severe and extreme such as lot of burnt wounds that is believed to have made him lose hair, eyelids, and lips while giving him some rotten skin and even causing him to start wearing the mask for an obvious reason, even if he declared it as making him look cool like a supervillain.
  • Ibiki Morino: Just like Obito, Ibiki's injuries also include his face as well and causes him to wear a full-on mask now, although he doesn't care and thinks it makes him more intimidating.
  • Orochimaru: While he was never a good looker, he now looks creepier than ever and even the main characters admit that they were disgusted by his new appearance, especially how he looks like a mixture and Voldemort and Severus Snape.

  • Big Bad Wannabe: Unsurprisingly, Orochimaru isn't the mastermind and is just a traitorous rival in the way that still gets killed later on by Menma, instead being replaced by a new Akatsuki.
• Big Sister Bully: Actually, Meiko is Menma's younger twin sister but does bully him and is ungrateful towards him. She's even framed him for all the pranks that happened and hates him because she sees him as a weakling and disgrace to the clan.
• Bound and Gagged: A few characters are victims of this but Sakura and Hinata have it the worst. Fortunately, Sakura always gets out due to Menma helping her out or having taught her to save herself but the latter part is justified for obvious reasons and it doesn't stop her behavior, only arousing her. • Complete Monster: A few characters are this:
  • Obito Uchiha is a manipulative and dangerous mastermind who is causing Menma to turn bad. As a child, he bullied Kakashi and was obsessed with Rin but turned even worse because of rejection from her. When they became a team, Obito would try to sabotage Kakashi but gets reprimanded by Rin for this and nearly kicked out of the team. When they get caught in the 3rd war, he destroys any love for Rin by planning to abandon her as revenge for rejecting him but gets angry when Kakashi chooses to save her. Because of this, he turns against them and tries to kill them but they manage to defeat him and leave him for dead. Faking his death, he conspires with Hanzo and other villains to be the new mastermind of the events before renouncing his old name and renaming himself Tobi. He is once again responsible for the nine-tails attack but this time, he causes the death of Sakura's parents and turned Menma into a jinchuriki to make him a future apprentice. He starts making Menma's life miserable and gives him the sharingan to control him.
  • Unlike his canon self, Orochimaru is an irredeemable monster who was already twisted from the start and had sadistic dreams of immortality via wanting to perform illegal experiments and is also now confirmed to be a disgusting pedophile who groomed his own apprentice Anko into being sadistic like him until he later abandoned her to save his own skin. In the present, he now attacks the Chunin Exams via still killing a participant to sneak in and hiring his assistant Kabuto to also be a fake participant while also now marking Menma and later not caring when Kabuto got executed after being caught, only being upset that he lost an ally and also being disappointed in him for getting caught.   • This version of Anko Mitarashi is not tragic nor sympathetic but instead an abusive and sadistic corrupt torturer who abuses people for her own pleasure but mostly targets Menma and Kurenai due to her interest in them. As a child, she was obsessed with Kurenai and stalked her but then got selfishly angry when getting rejected and started tormenting her their whole life. As a teenager, she once tricked Kurenai and kidnapped her to keep her to herself but got caught by Kakashi and imprisoned for her crimes. However, she managed to get away with it and vowed revenge. As an adult, she became a torturer but is corrupt and uses illegal methods to harm prisoners. After framing Kurenai, she takes pleasure in abusing her, both physically, emotionally, and sexually. When Menma goes to stop her, she ends up also abusing him too and planning to have fun with him before Kurenai finally gets free and reluctantly kills Anko in self-defense. Even after her death, Menma and Kurenai still remember her.
  • Hanzo is a ruthless tyrant who rules the Hidden Rain Village with an iron fist and is an occasional enemy of the Hidden Leaf Village. He's responsible for turning Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko into orphans and tried to corrupt them for plans of world conquest only to be defeated by them. In the present, he comes back to conquer the Leaf Village but didn't count on others stopping him.
• Downer Ending: The 1st part ends with Menma being fully corrupted and turning to the darkness. Any attempts to stop him have failed and he manages to escape capture while Sakura is left guilt-ridden over being unable to stop him and Kakashi believes that he failed his student. However, they have hope that they will return him home someday.
• Earn Your Happy Ending: The 2nd part ends with Menma being redeemed and saved from the darkness while helping Sakura and Kakashi defeat Obito for good and managing to show Madara the truth about Obito. Even better, Menma and Sakura get in a relationship while Kakashi becomes the new Hokage and plans to make Konoha a better place.
• Freudian Excuse: Mostly Menma and his crew:
  • Menma Namikaze: Oh boy, his life was worse than Naruto's life: Menma's own parents also sadly hated him too for petty reasons, the villagers were more abusive to him due to even Tsunade not trusting him either out of prejudice, his first kills are the ones at fault for having even r***d him out of sadistic fun and pleasure, and even the nine tails is sadly manipulating him this time.
  • Gaara: Surprisingly, he still has a tragic past of being abused by his father, losing his mother to childbirth, and nearly killed by his uncle but now his siblings bullied him and manipulated into being like them to avoid getting hurt again while his own tailed beast is also using him to kill other people out of sadism and has been abusing him too if he ever defied her, which is no wonder he pretended to be a bully and quickly switched to Menma's side after being defeated by him.
  • Yagura: While he was merely brainwashed once again, it's shockingly revealed that he was also like this because his false successor Mei Terumi had used him as her tool and even r***d him as while she also knew that he was being brainwashed but let it happen just to have an excuse to overthrow him and become his successor while his tenant is also too evil as well and willingly helped manipulate him into being evil, which is no surprise on why he quickly joined Menma and helped him capture Mei for punishment.
  • Utakata: Similar to Yagura, he was also used by Mei as well and even forced into helping her restrain Yagura, which his fellow Jinchuriki forgives him for it and lets him join the group.
  • Han and Roshi: They actually are master and student who were loyal to their village but turned out to also be used by them for power and the village let them know the true reason, which their defeat is what led them to joining Menma.
  • Yugito: Despite how weird and annoying she is, it is still only because her village also mistreated her too via holding her mother captive, forcing her to work for the Raikage, having to deal with Bee's obnoxious rapping, and even being raised by her tenant to also be a masochist pervert that is also obsessed with Menma and wants to marry him after he defeated her, which he was surprised by her backstory and actually wanted to give her therapy but still recruits her and just tolerates her now.
  • Killer Bee: Despite being the Raikage's adoptive brother, he's still raised by him as only a weapon and always get unfairly punished for honest mistakes, even if the crew still hate his rapping.
  • Fuu: Surprisingly, she wasn't treated right in her own village due to her parents selling her, her team bullying her, her sensei not caring at all, and even being tormented by her tenant, which makes sense why she joins Menma because he was nice to her.
• Hate Sink: A few characters are this:
  • Obito Uchiha for the reasons above in the Complete Monster trope.
  • Minato and Kushina Namikaze is presented as very abusive towards Menma and always beats him for everything while also only hating him because they didn't want a son and they have no remorse for planning to use him as a weapon, leading to the latter's disownment.
  • Hinata Hyuga is a sadistic and obsessive bully with no redeeming qualities and no remorse for her behavior but she is still at least considered tolerable to be around and knows when to stop when being defeated in a spar.
  • Neji Hyuga is a pervert who willing peeps on even his own cousin and is rightfully banned from bath houses for that but is also tolerable as well and knows to stop when Menma reprimands him.

  • Yugao Uzuki is an abusive corrupt ANBU towards Menma and makes him miserable while only backing off out of fear and just finding out that her fiancé was cheating on her, which him tricking her doesn't excuse her crimes.
• Spared By The Adaptation: Rin, Minato, and Kushina are alive in this along with Hanzo and a few others.
• Tearjerker: Some moments are this:
  • Menma: His whole life is definitely this more than his fellow Jinchurikis as even his own family hates him for petty reasons and let him be a Jinchuriki as an excuse to hate him, his current Kage sided with the haters and also looked down on him as untrustworthy, many people he could've trusted had only betrayed him or tried to kill him, being stalked by a crazy yandere admirer that won't hesitate to hurt him or his loved ones, he only grew up with hatred of those that wronged him or his people, and even his tenant is shown to be an Adaptational Villainy that is using him, pretty much any tragedy about him is this.
  • Gaara: Despite starting off as an Adaptational Jerkass, he still has a Freudian Excuse for it such as his Abusive Dad still treating him like a weapon, his late mother indeed hating him since birth, his own siblings use him for their antics, his uncle still tried to kill him out of hatred, and even his tenant is also manipulative as well, which even Menma shows sympathy over it to the point of only wanting to set him free and yet ends up leaving Gaara remorseful for his past crimes.

• Tragic Villain: Despite their actions, Menma and his crew are still given sympathy as they had to deal with a toxic villages that hate them, being manipulated by a mastermind, and could only be respected through fear.
• Ungrateful Bastard: Most characters are this for either good or bad reasons:
  • Konoha: Despite Menma looking loyal to them, they still don't ever thank him and only see him as their tool that they can use to be more successful, which makes you understand why he hates them so much since their behavior caused his turn to evil.
  • Hinata: Surprisingly justified; Kiba and Neji only like her because of her body, so she has every right to hate them.
  • Kankuro and Temari: Despite Gaara helping them out by killing enemies that were in the way, they still snap at him to just do more and not leave sloppy blood behind, which is what got Menma to realize Gaara's situation and why he's like them.
• Villain Protagonist: Menma is the titular character that is mostly focused on but goes through Sasuke's canon route and is still focused on, even if he is actually justified in his motive.
• Would Hurt A Child: Menma doesn't really kill children but is not afraid to verbally scold the Konohamaru Squad, who fear him for this. However, it's justified as they act cocky and bratty all the time.
• Would Hurt A Girl: On top of reprimanding children, Menma also doesn't have a problem reprimanding females and has killed a few of them but only when they deserve it for how they treat him and he actually doesn't harm Yugito for annoying him.
• Yandere: Mostly towards Menma:
  • Hinata: She is obviously this in this universe towards Menma and everyone knows it, including him and he is uncomfortable about it.
  • Yugito: Fortunately, she is more respectful about it and cares for his happiness while instead deciding to be more of a big sister to him and even harming those that bullied him, which he's glad that she isn't obsessed with him.
