Alaskan dhole (SciiFii)

The Alaskan dhole (Cuon alpinus alaskensis), also known as the Alaskan red dog or Alaskan wild dog is a subspecies of dhole that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the forests, open prairies, mountainous areas, woodlands and grasslands throughout Alaska, North America and Canada to help boost biodiversity.

The Alaskan dhole closely resembles the Tien Shan dhole (Cuon alpinus hesperius), but with thicker and darker fur color and are about the size of a coyote. They are carnivores like many today's dhole subspecies, the Alaskan dhole mainly preys on caribou, elks, musk oxen, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, Dall sheep, mountain goats, etc. They have thicker coats to endure the freezing temperatures.

The Alaskan dhole is also a highly social animal, living in large clans without rigid dominance hierarchies and containing multiple breeding females. Such clans usually consist of about 12 individuals, but groups of over 40 are known. It is a diurnal pack hunter which preferentially targets medium- and large-sized ungulates.

The conservation status of the Alaskan dhole is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts and the Alaskan dhole's wide range, unlike most other dhole subspecies (which are usually endangered or critically endangered), due to successful conservation efforts, the Alaskan dhole's wide range, its immunity against most diseases and viruses (including those spread by domestic dogs), and its tolerance to most of human activities, including being able to adapt to life in rural areas, cities and suburbs.
