African dhole (SciiFii)

The African dhole (Cuon alpinus africanua) also known as the African red dog or African whistling dog, is a subspecies of dhole that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the savannas, jungles, rainforests, grasslands, mountains, open woodlands and shrublands across Africa to help boost biodiversity.

The African dhole is about the size of and is almost identical to the Ussuri dhole (Cuon alpinus alpinus), but are about the size of a red wolf. The African dhole is also a highly social animal, living in large clans without rigid dominance hierarchies and containing multiple breeding females. Such clans usually consist of about 12 individuals, but groups of over 40 are known. It is a diurnal pack hunter which preferentially targets medium- and large-sized ungulates.

The conservation status of the African dhole is Least Concern, unlike most other dhole subspecies (which are usually endangered or critically endangered), due to successful conservation efforts, the African dhole's wide range, its immunity against most diseases and viruses (including those spread by domestic dogs), and its tolerance to most of human activities, including being able to adapt to life in rural areas, cities, and suburbs, similarly to coyotes (Canis latrans).
