The African dhole is the subspecies of dhole native to Africa,  It is indigenous to savannahs, grasslands, rainforests and temperate forests of Africa. They prey on They are carnivorous, feeding mainly on antelopes, deer, okapis, quaggas (reintroduced), weak/sick buffaloes, zebras, young giraffes and other herbivores. They mainly communicate by whistling.
