− | + | The only record of how the first seven came to be is recorded in the Fabella de Primus Septem, the holy text of Septifidelity. They left no record of their lifetimes otherwise. Nevertheless, the story of how they stopped evil from enslaving Qirsyllviar grew and was passed down for generations until it became legend. |

− | + | |

+ | Despite their role as balance keepers spread across the world, the powers of the abjaksan operate on a principle, "The Power of Seven." While they are powerful in their own right, alone they only have their own strength, but the more that are nearby the more powerful each becomes. And when all seven are together, they are unbeatable. |

The crimson eye, called the "Devil's Eye," allows the abjaksan to see spirits of the dead, which are normally invisible unless they want to be seen. The blue eye, called "Angel's Eye," allows the abjaksan to see through anything, even invisibility enchantments. |
+ | === Pragbhava Asurya Niyogin === |
||
− | Another power they all share is Empathy, the ability to feel and understand other people's feelings, emotions, and desires. While they share this power, it is not something they all can easily do, as only fully realized lunaculi who've learned to control their own emotions can unlock this power. Otherwise, it remains locked away in their subconscious where it can't be used until they are successful in unlocking it. The only real danger is if a lunaculi misuses or abuses this power. Any lunaculi that does so can find themselves driven insane by the sudden surge of emotions from all around. |
||
+ | Another ability of theirs, which is the most powerful and most fearsome, is the "Pragbhava Asurya Niyogin," also simply known as the "Niyogin." It is a combination of the power of all their past lives; their wisdom, knowledge, and power. When this happens, both their eyes glow bright green and they are capable of almost unimaginable feats. Like their normal powers, it is more powerful when more than one abjaksan is in proximity. An abjaksan will usually go into this state when they are in real danger, or when they go into a sufficient rage of fury. But they can also, if mastered, go into it at will. They can also go into this state more easily, mastered or not, during Harmonic Convergence once every four thousand years. |

− | Another ability of theirs, which is the most powerful and most fearsome, is the "Lunaculus State." It is a combination of the power of all their past lives; their wisdom, knowledge, and power. When this happens, both their eyes glow bright green and they are capable of almost unimaginable feats. Like their normal powers, it is more powerful when more than one lunaculus is in proximity. They can also go into this state more easily, mastered or not, during Harmonic Convergence once every four thousand years. |
||
+ | Whatever their powers, all abjaksan must take care to control them; with each reincarnation, their developed powers grow in strength as their spirits draw on the residual energies left behind over time by their past lives. If an abjaksan taps into it, they can increase their powers hundreds-fold; but if they become arrogant or overconfident and tap too deeply they can lose all control as their bodies take on more power than they can handle. |
||
+ | |||
+ | If this happens they can become overwhelmed and be destroyed. In extreme cases, the explosion of power can wipe out everything miles around. Such an incident has only happened twice: the first time was roughly two centuries after the creation of the abjaksan. It happened during the Kanjiniro-Tografik War of ancient Soynaltiar and is known to Soynaltian history as the Great Ketellaao, when the abjaksan of Maritymir, siding with one of the competing dynasties, lost control trying to use her power to control alien technology; she was vaporized but her power triggered a dormant fault line that shook the continent for fourteen full days and created many tsunamis, some nearly two miles high. The devastation resulted in over half of Soynaltiar's original lands, mostly lands to the southwest and the east, breaking off and moving further out, becoming large subcontinental islands outlying the mainland. The second and last time was roughly two millenniums later, when an abjaksan of Tarak was overwhelmed and destroyed by his power, and the resulting explosion destroyed the city of Shon (शोण), the capital of the Empire of Ekhshau, and the surrounding towns. The aftermath of it resulted in the fall of the empire. |

+ | Since the first seven, the abjaksan have been continuously reincarnated so that there are always seven at a time. When one dies a new one is born at least a few weeks after their predecessor's death. It should also be noted that the reincarnations are not race specific, meaning that any race, half-breed or not, can produce an abjaksan. Though reincarnations into a specific race are usually by chance alone, Alfheim is the exception; its abjaksan is reincarnated in a cycle. |

Their mother was Tianne, a human, but Tallulah's father was an angel, making her a nephilim, and Zenovia's father was demon, making her a cambion. While born opposites, both sisters shared the same belief: Voldrazar had to be stopped. |

+ | Popular legend says that Minerve was the ruler of a powerful advanced civilization and/or empire that spanned more then half of Soligaia at the height of its power. The name of the civilization has been lost to time (and is known by historians, who continue to debate its alleged existence, as the "Minervian Empire") after it was destroyed in a single day and night by the machinations and dreaded armies of the Dark Lord Voldrazar. The destruction of her empire and the suffering of her people is believed to be the primary motivator of her cooperation with Tallulah and Zenovia to become an abjaksan. |

Tofu later successfully got Fukurai-tenno's reign going before she died, passing away of old age three years after Fukurai-tenno was enthroned, the same year most of the major fighting of the Ni-Hyakunen Senso ended; however, the wars themselves would continue in the form of localized rebellions, a period termed the Ibu Jidai (慰撫時代), until 2123<small>INO</small> (3840<small>PCZ</small>), forty-three years after her death. |

Several slabs of land sank beneath the waves while other s remained above sea level, becoming large subcontinental islands outlying the mainland. |

==Etymology== |
||
− | *Lunaculi, and Lunaculus, is a portmanteau that comes from the Latin words Luna (moon) and Oculi/Oculus (eyes/eye), which describes their heterochromatic eyes like the twin moons of Patria. |
||
− | **lunaculus and lunaculi are pronounced "lū-noc-yū-lus" and "lū-noc-yū-lie" respectively. |
||
+ | *Abjaksan (pronounced /ɑb.d͡ʒɑk.ʃɑn/), which is both singular and plural, is a portmanteau that comes from the Sanskrit words Abja (अब्ज/moon) and Cakṣan (चक्षन्/eyes), which describes their heterochromatic eyes like the twin moons of Qirsyllviar. |
||
− | == Trivia == |
||
+ | |||
− | * The lunaculi were partially inspired by the Avatar from the Avatar Series. |
||
+ | ==Descendants of the First Seven== |
||
− | * The list of known lunaculi in the subsections of the Pre-Chronicles of Patria section are listed in chronological order. |
||
+ | Because of the significance of the first seven abjaksan, many people claim to be descended from them. However, only a handful of claimants have a reliable genealogy traceable back to them. |
||
− | * Luctiana Ophihaya was the only lunaculus who's surname wasn't given to their homeland. Alfheim already had its name by her time. |
||
+ | |||
− | * While it's common for lunaculi to meet up and interact with each other at some point in their lives, a full gathering is a very rare occurrence; and some lunaculi go their entire lives without meeting another lunaculus. |
||
+ | === Minerve Dahl === |
||
− | **Between the original defeat of Voldrazar and the gathering during the Great Northern Aquilonis War, all seven lunaculi have gathered together a total of twenty-three times. |
||

− | ***During the majority of times they gathered it was during a time of great peril, when the fate of a particular region, or even all of Patria, hung in the balance. |
||

− | **Also, after a full gathering, it is common for the lunaculi to "scatter" again within days of the ultimate purpose of their gathering being fulfilled. |

||
+ | Many people and clans claim descent from Xiangrikui Gongchen. This is partially because popular legend says that Xiangrikui Gongchen had at least a hundred children via numerous wives and lovers, but surviving diaries from his time state that only had twenty children, fifteen of which were still living by the time he died, and numerous grandchildren from them. |
||
+ | |||
+ | The founders of six different dynasties of Tianchao, one preimperial dynasty and five imperial dynasties, several imperial consorts, and several other great historical Wan figures, all claimed descent from him. Many of these lineages have branched out into various walks of life over the millennia while others have gone extinct. Whether or not these people were really distant progeny of Xiangrikui Gongchen is anyone's guess, but he remains a revered figure in Wan history, mythology and folklore, and his alleged descendants in turn. |

As her army was retreating, Lan Mi, the best archeress of her time, attempted to aid the withdrawal by shooting an arrow at Jian Zheng to kill him and force the Qiang to reconsider chasing them. But Jian Zheng skillfully deflected the arrow with his sword and, intrigued by her, captured her alive rather than kill her. With Bao's ruler in his hands, he sent a ransom demand that he knew the neighboring kingdom wouldn't be able to pay as an excuse to keep her around. |
||
+ | |||
+ | While holding her in captivity, Jian Zheng treated her like a guest and gave her freedom to move around his castle unhindered, but not to leave; he even allowed her to walk about the capital as she pleased, as long as she was accompanied either by him or one of his trusted guards. The pair got to know each other well from the interaction, and with each passing day they grew closer to the point they started to fall in love. About three months later, Lan Mi got word that Hong Kingdom was invading hers and attempted to leave, only to be stopped at the gates by Jian Zheng himself. |
||
+ | |||
+ | Lan Mi demanded she be allowed to leave to protect her kingdom, but Jian Zheng refused, admonishing her for her emotional outburst in the face of an impossible situation. Instead of demanding to leave again, Lan Mi asked that Jian Zheng lend her his army (popular legend says that Jian Zheng burst out laughing at this request). Jian Zheng agreed, but let her know it was going to cost her. Jian Zheng demanded her kingdom in exchange, and Lan Mi agreed once Jian Zheng agreed to govern over her people justly, as the Mandate of Heaven decrees. The two monarchs then rode together with the Qiang army to to repel Hong Kingdom, gathering as many Bao Kingdom soldiers as possible along the way. |
||
+ | |||
+ | After repelling Hong Kingdom in three decisive battles, killing its wang – whose name is recorded in history as Chi Zhengfu (赤征服) – in the process, Jian Zheng got Lan Mi alone and proposed marriage, declaring his love for her and asking her to help him build a nation where everyone could decide their own fate, and a dynasty that would endure in the annals of history forever, even if the Madate of Heaven passed on from them. Moved by his speech, Lan Mi accepted, and the Qiang and Bao Kingdoms were officially merged with their marriage. The two later went on to unite the rest of the states through diplomacy and conquest, founding the Qiang dynasty and becoming the first Huangdi & Huanghou of Tianchao. |

That said, the immediate predecessors of the 46th Century Abjaksan, those of The Chronicles of Qirsyllviar: The Secret of Garvis, are listed directly above them. |

The Abjaksan are a group of people native to one of each of the seven great lands of Qirsyllviar. They are the seven who, through existence alone, maintain balance between good and evil. They are easily identifiable by their unique heterochromatic eyes (crimson in the right and blue in the left) like the twin moons of Qirsyllviar. There always seven, no more no less, continuously reincarnated when one dies.
Origins
The only record of how the first seven came to be is recorded in the Fabella de Primus Septem, the holy text of Septifidelity. They left no record of their lifetimes otherwise. Nevertheless, the story of how they stopped evil from enslaving Qirsyllviar grew and was passed down for generations until it became legend.
The Legend of the Abjaksan
- “In ancient times, when the great continents were still young, a great ancient evil named Voldrazar crept forth from the depths of the Underworld seeking to enslave all of Qirsyllviar. Many centuries of struggle between good and evil ensued with Voldrazar nearing victory. Then, seven young warriors, one from each of the great lands ravaged by the Evil Emperor, appeared as if out of nowhere. Together they battled Voldrazar for the fate of Qirsyllviar. Their strength, unbelievable. Their power, unstoppable. Voldrazar was defeated, and the seven warriors returned home. Since then, the seven warriors have been reborn again and again, and through existence alone have maintained the balance between good and evil. Always they are awaiting the call to gather again, should that balance ever shift.”
- ―Passage from the Fabella Septem describing the origins of the Abjaksan.
Powers & Abilities
Despite their role as balance keepers spread across the world, the powers of the abjaksan operate on a principle, "The Power of Seven." While they are powerful in their own right, alone they only have their own strength, but the more that are nearby the more powerful each becomes. And when all seven are together, they are unbeatable.
The abjaksan tend to spontaneously develop unique powers normally not seen amongst their own birth race. While sometimes hereditary based on the family lines they're born into, some are practically unheard of, or only appear once in many generations.
While the abjaksan tend to develop their own powers, all abjaksan share certain powers:
They have two unique abilities with their eyes. These are activated by closing both eyes, focusing on one eye, and then reopening that particular eye while keeping the other one closed. The crimson eye, called the "Devil's Eye," allows the abjaksan to see spirits of the dead, which are normally invisible unless they want to be seen. The blue eye, called "Angel's Eye," allows the abjaksan to see through anything, even invisibility enchantments.
Pragbhava Asurya Niyogin
Another ability of theirs, which is the most powerful and most fearsome, is the "Pragbhava Asurya Niyogin," also simply known as the "Niyogin." It is a combination of the power of all their past lives; their wisdom, knowledge, and power.
Dangers of the Powers of the Abjaksan
Whatever their powers, all abjaksan must take care to control them; with each reincarnation, their developed powers grow in strength as their spirits draw on the residual energies left behind over time by their past lives. If an abjaksan taps into it, they can increase their powers hundreds-fold; but if they become arrogant or overconfident and tap too deeply they can lose all control as their bodies take on more power than they can handle.
If this happens they can become overwhelmed and be destroyed.
Reincarnation
Since the first seven, the abjaksan have been continuously reincarnated so that there are always seven at a time.
Tallulah & Zenovia
Tallulah and Zenovia are ancient immortal half-twin sisters that created the abjaksan in the first place. Their mother was Tianne, a human, but Tallulah's father was an angel, making her a nephilim, and Zenovia's father was demon, making her a cambion. While born opposites, both sisters shared the same belief: Voldrazar had to be stopped.
And so the sisters gathered seven individuals and gifted them with the power needed to stand up to Voldrazar, and lock him away.

Zenra Tofu's younger sister, Zenra Tosui (全裸桃水), later married Shintoki-tenno, becoming Tosui Kogo (桃水皇后/Empress Tosui), making Tofu sister-in-law to the tenno.
Zenra Tofu was with Shintoki-tenno when he was killed in the Siege of Umadake and he died in her arms, a tragedy for which Tofu blamed herself for the rest of her life, even while no one else did. Zenra Tofu outlived her liege & brother-in-law by roughly eight years. She helped getting Awamori-tenno settled into the throne and the burden of leadership, but his reign was tragically cut short by illness after only five years. Tofu later successfully got Fukurai-tenno's reign going before she died, passing away of old age three years after Fukurai-tenno was enthroned, the same year most of the major fighting of the Ni-Hyakunen Senso ended; however, the wars themselves would continue in the form of localized rebellions, a period termed the Ibu Jidai (慰撫時代), until 2123INO (3840PCZ), forty-three years after her death.

Kalbodhi was the abjaksan of Tarak whom – during the siege of the Ekhshau Empire's capital city of Shon (शोण) by his liege's rival for the throne – infamously lost control of his powers. The resulting explosion destroyed the city and several nearby towns, killing everyone within range of the blast.
The aftermath of the disaster, known infamously as the Pralayam (प्रलयम), saw the collapse of Ekhshau civilization, which over time saw the division of the Taraki people into the many ethnolinguistic groups of today.

Her explosion of power vaporized her and triggered the creation of several fault lines that shook the continent for fourteen full days, which according to legend was felt as far away as northern Marlakcor, and created many tsunamis, some nearly two miles high. The devastation resulted in over half of Soynaltiar's original lands, mostly lands to the southwest and the east, breaking off and moving further out. Several slabs of land sank beneath the waves while other s remained above sea level, becoming large subcontinental islands outlying the mainland.

Symbols
Each abjaksan has their own symbol, which is occasionally marked where any of them were born or have done great deeds. The symbols were originally created by the first seven, and have since become their symbols of recognition and pride. Since the first seven, the abjaksan would sometimes wear their respective symbols somewhere on their person, but this is not a given for every abjaksan.
Etymology
- Abjaksan (pronounced /ɑb.d͡ʒɑk.ʃɑn/), which is both singular and plural, is a portmanteau that comes from the Sanskrit words Abja (अब्ज/moon) and Cakṣan (चक्षन्/eyes), which describes their heterochromatic eyes like the twin moons of Qirsyllviar.
Descendants of the First Seven
Because of the significance of the first seven abjaksan, many people claim to be descended from them. However, only a handful of claimants have a reliable genealogy traceable back to them.
Minerve Dahl
Aragrawp Dryhlano
Xiangrikui Gongchen
Many people and clans claim descent from Xiangrikui Gongchen. This is partially because popular legend says that Xiangrikui Gongchen had at least a hundred children via numerous wives and lovers, but surviving diaries from his time state that only had twenty children, fifteen of which were still living by the time he died, and numerous grandchildren from them.
The founders of six different dynasties of Tianchao, one preimperial dynasty and five imperial dynasties, several imperial consorts, and several other great historical Wan figures, all claimed descent from him.

Huanghou Baoxiao 寶笑皇后 |
Huangdi Chuangjian 薔創見皇帝 |
The sole wife of Huangdi Chuangjian and the first Huanghou of Tianchao. Aside from being an alleged descendant of Xiangrikui Gongchan, Lan Mi was also an alleged descendant of Lan Caihe, one of the Eight Immortals. Near the end of the Warring States period, she was Bao Kingdom's last wanghou (a kingdom that practiced matrilineal primogeniture).
Her story with Huangdi Chuangjian is a traditional tale taught to every child in every era. Late in the Warring States period, Jian Zheng and Lan Mi met on the battlefield following a border clash, which Qiang Kingdom won. While holding her in captivity, Jian Zheng treated her like a guest and gave her freedom to move around his castle unhindered, but not to leave; he even allowed her to walk about the capital as she pleased, as long as she was accompanied either by him or one of his trusted guards. The pair got to know each other well from the interaction, and with each passing day they grew closer to the point they started to fall in love. About three months later, Lan Mi got word that Hong Kingdom was invading hers and attempted to leave, only to be stopped at the gates by Jian Zheng himself. Lan Mi demanded she be allowed to leave to protect her kingdom, but Jian Zheng refused, admonishing her for her emotional outburst in the face of an impossible situation. After repelling Hong Kingdom in three decisive battles, killing its wang – whose name is recorded in history as Chi Zhengfu (赤征服) – in the process, Jian Zheng got Lan Mi alone and proposed marriage, declaring his love for her and asking her to help him build a nation where everyone could decide their own fate, and a dynasty that would endure in the annals of history forever, even if the Madate of Heaven passed on from them.

Trivia
- As a sign of respect and the importance on Qirsyllvian history, almost all cultures who use a special script for their language have a rendering of the word abjaksan both in script and pronunciation, save for a few whose lingual tonalities don't fit.
- The first seven abjaksan are the central figures of Septifidelity, one of the major religions of Qirsyllviar.
- The varying dates are for different calendars, depending on which culture the abjaksan were born into.
- The list of known abjaksan in the Pre-Chronicles of Qirsyllviar sections of the tables are listed in chronological order, though are not necessarily immediately successive to each other, as there are actually hundreds more predating the current seven. (Author's note: blank rows indicate "undecided" abjaksan between listed ones.) That said, the immediate predecessors of the 46th Century Abjaksan, those of The Chronicles of Qirsyllviar: The Secret of Garvis, are listed directly above them.
- The abjaksan were partially inspired by the Avatar from the Avatar Series.
- The Pragbhava Asurya Niyogin, which was partially inspired by the Avatar State from the Avatar series, means "Past-Life Spiritual Empowerment" in Sanskrit.
- Though Fuso is considered a separate land all its own, situated between the continents of Aquilonis and Marlakcor, the abjaksan of Marlakcor can be born in Fuso but the abjaksan of Aquilonis can not. The widely accepted reason for this is because Fuso is too far away from Aquilonis, making it de facto part of Marlakcor.
- While it's common for abjaksan to meet up and interact with each other at some point in their lives, a full gathering is a very rare occurrence; and some abjaksan go their entire lives without meeting another abjaksan.
- Between the original defeat of Voldrazar and the gathering during the Great Northern Aquilonis War, all seven abjaksan have gathered together in one place a total of fifty-three times.
- During the majority of times they gathered it was during a time of great peril, when the fate of a particular region, or even all of Qirsyllviar, hung in the balance.
- Also, after a full gathering, it is common for the abjaksan to "scatter" again within days of the ultimate purpose of their gathering being fulfilled.
- Between the original defeat of Voldrazar and the gathering during the Great Northern Aquilonis War, all seven abjaksan have gathered together in one place a total of fifty-three times.
- An abjaksan's differently-colored eyes are not their natural eye color. When an abjaksan dies, their eyes change back to the color they would've inherited from their parents.
