Aaron Church is a main character in the American crime drama, Law & Order: New Orleans.

Biography & Personality

Born in Miami, Florida in May 1961, Aaron Church grew up in a good family. He was the middle of three children, and had a close relationship with his older brother Micah, who when missing while serving in Vietnam in 1974. He moved to Louisiana for college, where he majored in criminal justice. He moved back to Miami after graduation, joined the police academy, and eventually, the Miami-Dade Police Department. He was, however, forced into early retirement after 30 years, when a rival on the force framed him and several others for corruption to cover his own dirty deeds. Church then returned to Louisiana, where he joined the NOPD.

He is divorced twice, but remains on good terms with his ex-wives; he has a son, Benny from his first marriage, and two daughters, Jackie and Lisa from his second.

Chuch is shown as a dedicated, observant, and somewhat comedic, and like Sgt. Parker, will often throw occasional sarcasm and wisecracks at friends, co-workers, and suspects alike. However, he holds some bitterness over how he and other innocent officers were ousted wrongfully because of his old rival and vows to one day bring him to justice for his crimes. Because of this, he is usually hesistant to believe when an officer seems to be corrupt unless cold, hard evidence is presented, and has developed a habit of clashing Internal Affairs detectives,

Church takes over the MCCIS in the second episode of the fifteenth season. The squad is at first unsure of the new leadership, due to them preferring Reyes and still mourning the loss of Frye, but starts to accept him as their new commander near the end when he attends Frye's funeral, despite never knowing or meeting him.
