A Nightmare On Elm Street: The Game is a survival horror video game developed by IllFonic, and published by Gun Media. It is based on the film franchise of the same name owned by New Line Cinema. It was released on May 26, 2018 for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. It is the second game by Illfonic and Gun Media that is an asymmetrical multiplayer game concerning a slasher horror franchise icon. The game pits up to seven Dream Warrior characters against one player controlling Freddy Krueger. It is a semi-open world game with players able to explore it. It is the second game since Friday The 13th to utilize the Unreal Engine 4.

Boiler Factory[]

First available dreamscape map comprising of open roam labyrinth corridors and eight primary stage areas: The Furnace, Welding Chamber, Walkway, Lockers, Steam Room, Soul Pit, Green Room and Control Centre.

The Furnace[]

The Furnace section covers the furnace, dirty cloth sections and Krueger Bed spread areas from the first film.

The Welding Chamber[]

The Welding Chamber borrows design from the 2010 remake area in which Quentin Smith was attacked by Krueger, it features long dividing benches containing finger blade glove prototypes, one of which is an easter egg pertaining to the animatronic death glove from New Nightmare.

The Walkway[]

The Walkway is the design of Freddy Vs. Jason with the long metal grate platforms eventually passing through New Nightmare inspired tunnels and into flaming areas inspired by the 2010 remake.

The Lockers[]

The Lockers a siding section where the player can hide in a locker is taken from Freddy Vs. Jason.

The Steam Room[]

The Steam Room a completely original design of an atrium area that fills with heavy amounts of steam and can conceal the player from Freddy.

The Soul Pit[]

The Soul Pit a large room with cracked holes in the ground bearing struggling souls that when released of their tongue bindings increase the players' stats. The Pit and souls taken directly from Dream Warriors.

Green Room[]

The Green Room a second furnace area with neon green walls and reflective dark floors and low hanging ceiling chains taken from The Dream Master.

Control Centre[]

The Control Centre a back of map storage area with a boxed control room taken from Freddy's Dead.

Exiting The Map[]

To escape the Boiler Room one must either repair the boiler by adding the five missing components: The Glove, Tina's crucifix, Rod's switchblade, Glen's headphones and the hat to start the boiler and unlock the exit door into the Thompson basement. The five pieces appear scattered across the map in different locations each match and the door appears on different ends of the map in different matches.

Elm Street[]

The largest free roam map prior to Westin Hills. All houses are accessible though only certain houses and buildings contain the best protection and detailed rooms. 1428 Elm The Thompson residence, the across the street Lantz residence, around the corner Gray home, Webber estate, Grady, Johnson, Crusel, Kincaid, Stevens, Jordan homes, Crave Inn Diner, Monolith Theatre, Orphanage and Police Precinct are the most detailed interior locations. The player can roam the connecting streets and across the front and backyards of all the properties. Cars on the street can be flipped at Freddy by Kincaid to slow him down. As Freddy on the map the player can utilise the Shadow Freddy ability to kill the Dream Warriors.

Exiting The Map[]

If the player tries to exit by commandeering one of the street vehicles to the leaving Springwood section the effect of Freddy's Dead occurs where the player and other characters in the vehicle loop back to the street. To exit the player must discover the chalk drawn verses of the Freddy's coming for you song scattered across the map in alternating locations each match. This results in the Shelter van from Freddy's Dead materialising on the map in an alternating location which can be driven off the map using the Leaving Springwood exit. The other ways to exit the map is to use the right alternating phone on the map to contact Jesse Walsh who once possessed by Jesse and freed can result in the leaving Springwood exit opening. The final way is to gather the alternating seven items on the map: Debbie's spiked arm brace, Sheila's roach repellent device, Rick's nunchuku, Kristen's cigarettes, Kincaid's met and Rick's headband resulting in Dan Jordan's truck and motorbike materialising on the map in varying locations each match. The truck immediately draws Freddy to the location and after a truck collision the player can utilise the motorbike to exit through the Leaving Springwood section.

Westin Hills[]

The largest free roam map in the game. The Main building Comprises of 12 floors with all rooms and sections accessible to the player. The exterior is also a section of the map which is hit with constant rainfall akin to the Freddy Vs. Jason appearance of the location. The first main building floor is admittance, the second floor Group Therapy, The Third Floor Solitary, Fourth Recreation, Fifth Offices, Sixth Wizard Master Domain, Seventh Bar Alley, Eighth Intensive Therapy, Ninth Closed Unit, Tenth Mirror Hallways, Eleventh Muddy Hallways and Twelfth Hanging Hallway. The second building accessible through the exterior quad area is the Tower which has five areas: The Pool, Winding Staircase, Church, Inmate Quarters and Resting Place.

Admittance[]

Caged hallway leading into the Atrium with the reception booth. Racketing doors pay homage to the Jason entrance in Freddy Vs. Jason. A back area morgue with comatose victims, a control panel and empty hypnocil cupboards is the area before the staircase ascending up to the second floor.

Group Therapy[]

Joey, Kristen, Taryn, Kincaid, Jennifer, Will and Phillip's shared roos appear on this floor along with the nurses station and group therapy room.

Solitary[]

Padded room floor which break into other rooms through damage.

Recreation[]

Television rooms and tabled areas.

Offices[]

Office sections including the offices belonging to Neil Gordon and Elizabeth Simms.

Wizard Master Domain[]

Gothic death trap gauntlet corridors.

Bar Alley[]

Taryn's Club Met Bar Alley sections. Steam can shield the player here from Freddy.

Intensive Care[]

Original area not appearing in the film series. Dungeon rooms and dungeon corridor where the floor collapses into a blood hallway akin to the 2010 remake.

Closed Unit[]

Caged corridor and caged rooms. Also an original area.

Mirror Hallways[]

Mirror Hallways across red walled corridor. The Mirrors can be utilised to travel amongst the winding hallway floor by the player.

Muddy Hallways[]

Dungeon tunnel corridor with muddy floor.

Hanging Hallway[]

Final Floor of the main building which winds into a bottomless room with chain hanging corpses.

Exiting The Map[]

To escape the map the player must gather the church stained glass shard, Hypnocil bottle, Freddy Hookah, Phillip's astronaut puppet and Amanda Krueger's skeletal remains which all appear in alternating locations match to match. The player then with the full assembly can leap from a high rise window and wake up.

Nightmare Set[]

The Wes Craven new nightmare film set from New Nightmare. Features entity Freddy's lair, The Langenkamp-Porter residence, empty version of the busy highway, Psychiatric Ward and Backstage areas including Props, Wardrobe, VFX and an empty television interview studio.

Exiting The Map[]

The player must gather the animatronic film glove, Dylan's Rex The Protector Dinosaur Plush, The Hansel & Gretel storybook, Wes Craven's signed script and the bowl of Porridge to escape via the Freddy's lair tunnel.

Youth Shelter[]

The Youth shelter from Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare complete with exterior locations including the repeating road to Springwood. Features downstairs armory, Springwood carnival, Freddy's brain glitch setting changes, Doc's Dream office, training room, Tracy's Apartment, Abandoned 1428 Elm Street, Foyer, Maggie's office, Doomed flight, Levitating house and Freddy's cellar.

Exiting The Map[]

The player must gather John's shirt parachute, Spencer's game, Carlos' hearing aid, Tracy's boxing glove, Doc's baseball bat and Maggie's red ribbons to escape via the facility Elm Street sign exit by the shelter van.

Badham Pre-School[]

The pre-school from the 2010 remake. Contains the classroom areas, exterior playground, down the road Hawthorn Pharmacy, Library, Springwood Diner, Pre-School Basement and Freddy's Cave.

Exiting The Map[]

The player must gather Kris' photo album, Nancy's waitress uniform and artwork, Fred's Gardening tool, Quentin's goggles, Jesse's jumpsuit and Quentin's adrenaline needle. The player can then set fire to the Pre-school areas of the map and wake up.

  1. Blood Geyser: Nightmare On Elm Street 1 Freddy exclusive. Freddy pulls the victim into the floor and a flood of blood erupts from a hole in the ground.
  2. Defying Gravity: Freddy chest slashes the character after pulling them into the air and swinging them across the walls. He goes invisible for this execution.
  3. Fiery Cataclysm: Freddy's revenge Freddy exclusive. Freddy immolates the character.
  4. Shocking End: Freddy utilises a water area to add electricity and electrocute the character.
  5. Tongue Tied: Freddy wraps his tongue around the character's head and asphyxiates them.
  6. Fast Lane: Dream Child Freddy exclusive. Freddy uses wiring in an area to disintegrate the flesh of the character and disfigure them while they succumb to cardiac arrest.
  7. Bon Appetit: Dream Child Freddy exclusive. Freddy feeds the character their own stomach pieces after cutting into them.
  8. Skating By: Dream Child Freddy exclusive. Freddy uses a Bladed Board in an area to impale a character in the face after catching them.
  9. Having Fun: Elm Street map exclusive, Freddy in shadow form stabs through a character.
  10. Furnace Toss: Boiler Room map exclusive, Freddy tosses a character into one of the two map furnaces.
  11. Back to Back: New Nightmare Freddy exclusive. Freddy slashes the characters back and then tosses them back onto their head, breaking their skull and neck.
  12. Bad For You: Super Freddy exclusive, morphs the character in a comic cutout and then shreds them, causing a brief area collapse.
  13. No Brainer: Freddy's Revenge Freddy exclusive. Freddy scalps the character.
