Synopsis[]
Anne, the shepherd girl, lived for the thrill of the chase. Each day, she'd race through the hills, her laughter echoing across the valley, and her flock trailing behind. But her greatest joy was playing a cruel trick on the villagers. With a guttural growl and a flick of her wrist, she'd send a stray sheep running, crying 'Wolf! Wolf!' The villagers, always eager to protect their livelihood, would rush to the fields, only to find Anne giggling, sheep scattered.
One day, the mirth turned to terror. A monstrous wolf, with teeth like daggers and eyes burning with hunger, stalked the hills. Anne, oblivious to the danger, shrieked 'Wolf! Wolf!' as the beast, ignoring the sheep, moved in on her. The villagers, their ears dulled by her constant pranks, ignored her frantic screams. By the time they finally rushed to the hills, the wolf was gone, and Anne lay bloodied beside a field of mangled corpses. The villagers, horrified, realized the gravity of their mistaken amusement. Too late, Anne's mother cried and mourning over her daughter's death while the villagers understood the chilling truth: Anne's pranks had cost them far more than a few wasted moments.
