Aidan Breandán Stiles was born on Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to an American father, Jason Stiles, and an Irish-born mother, Máire O'Mara-Stiles. His father was an intelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force and as a consequence, he was raised all over the world. After graduating from high school, Stiles went on to the Virginia Military Institute. He graduated from VMI with a Bachelor of Arts of International Studies and a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps via the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps. While at VMI, Stiles decided to become a ground intelligence officer.
After The Basic School, he went on to the Infantry Officer Course. Stiles then attended the Scout Sniper Platoon Commander Course at the Scout Sniper Instructor School and then the Ground Intelligence Officer Course at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center. He was then assigned as a scout sniper platoon commander to Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion 8th Marines. After serving as a scout sniper platoon commander, Stiles attended the Basic Reconnaissance Course and then the Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course. Upon completing basic parachute training at the U.S Army Airborne School and Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape training, he was assigned to the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion as a reconnaissance platoon commander. Stiles later deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit as the amphibious reconnaissance platoon commander. After that, he became a reconnaissance company commander in the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion.
With numerous commendations, Stiles left the U.S. Marine Corps after eight years of service. He then applied for employment with the Central Intelligence Agency. Upon successfully completing the entire application process, Stiles was accepted as a clandestine service trainee. After an orientation period, he was sent to the CIA Special Training Center - "The Farm," Camp Peary for intensive operational training. There, Stiles went through the Basic Operations Course, which trained him in so-called "operational intelligence" or "tradecraft" espionage skills. After completing the Clandestine Service Trainee Program, he was offered a position in the Incident Response Group.
Reporting directly to the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, the IRG is a tactical intelligence operations team mandated to react to the current most active and time-sensitive foreign intelligence threats to U.S. security. It operates as a mobile intelligence unit with the capability to move from country to country anywhere in the world, sometimes covertly, sometimes with the agreement of the local government. The mission of this formidable group is to combat terrorism, nuclear threats, biological warfare and any and all assaults on the United States.
Stiles enthusiastically accepted the offer and joined the Incident Response Group. With his official cover being that of a personal services contractor with the U.S. Department of State, he is the IRG's chief field operative. A highly-skilled undercover operations officer and tactical operations expert, Stiles is always willing to risk his life in the field to secure national safety. He has helped save America from devastating threats on numerous occasions.
