The club-winged penguin (Anthropornis modernus, name meaning "modern man-bird") is a species of giant penguin that originally lived in New Zeaand around 45-33 million years ago during the Late Eocene through the earliest part of the Oligocene as an extinct species of Anthropornis and was once extinct, but has since been brought back from extinction by SciiFii and introduced to the modern New Zealand coastlines to help boost biodiversity. It can reach 1.8 meters (5 feet 11 inches) in height and 90 kg (200 lb) in weight. By comparison, the largest native modern penguin species, the emperor pengCuin, is just 1.2 m (3 ft 11 in) tall. Unlike modern-styled penguins, the club-winged penguin has a bent joint in each wing, a carryover from flying ancestors. It is a carnivore that mainly feeds on fish, squid, and krill. The conservation status of the club-winged penguin is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the club-winged penguin's wide range in Oceania, and its tolerance to both pollution and human settlements on coastal areas.
